Adam Hartzler has always been an honorable immortal, but the fine line between right and wrong begins to blur when he is called to his true mate. If he does not find and claim her soon, he will lose his soul and humanity, transforming into a vile predator controlled by insatiable bloodlust, sentenced to a demonic and tortured eternity as a vampire. Adam sets out on a quest to hunt his mate and … mate and claim her before it is too late. His salvation relies on his destined mate’s surrender, but when she refuses to cooperate, Adam must set aside his morals and do what is needed to survive. Time’s slipping away with his control, and his territorial instincts refuse to let her go.
Annalise Snow awakens on a primitive farm removed from modern civilization and in fear of her life. Her captor is determined to keep her prisoner and believes he is somehow entitled to her future. But she will not surrender easily. When Adam asks for the ultimate sacrifice, she must decide if he lives or dies.
Passion and emotion collide in an explosive meeting of destined souls, but love is never a guarantee, especially when eternity begins with betrayal.

Ok you are probably waiting for me to tell you about the characters in this book .The first thing i am going to say is holy hotness who knew that you could take and Amish man and make him sex walking , that is Adam to the core. He is immortal but such a honourable man but also such an alpha man that would have any woman swooning at just one look . He does the wrong thing for the right reason and there are moments that you will hate him and then there are moments that you will want to climb him like a spider monkey and say yes Sir . Now Annalise well she is one feisty woman. sassy beyond words but there is also a sadness in her that you just want to hug and help her out. She does put up a good fight with Adam and when they are together they are combustible . I loved these characters so much i think that they are my new favourite book couple .

Phenomenal Dark Story!
WOW! This story is absolutely phenomenal! I was taken on one intense emotional roller-coaster ride that was gut wrenching at times. The story is one of pain, anger, darkness and out of this world love. I absolutely loved this so much! The story and the characters completely captivated me and held me enthralled with their story from beginning to end. There are times that the story will completely shock you and times when you fall hopelessly in love with the main characters. The concept of the story is very unique and it tells a tale I have never heard before.
Annalise and Adam’s story is one that is full of passion and darkness and will have your heart aching at times. Their story has so many little twists and surprises that you will continue to be shocked by what happens. Annalise and Adam have a connection that is beyond my ability to explain. Their souls were made for each other – he’s the yin to her yang! The passion and chemistry these two have for each other oozes off the pages. They have a love that transcends time.
“You’ve known me longer than a day, Annalise. We met when the sky touched the earth, and stars were born. You were the air I breathed. And I was the first sound you heard. We were pulled apart to come to this moment in time, but it has always been our destiny to find each other again.”
Such intense and beautiful words!! This amazing author has transported us readers into a world of amazing love and passion with her beautiful words and this phenomenal love story. Highly recommend.
A different twist on your average immortal/vampire story and one which I completely devoured and enjoyed. Adam is an immortal who lives a very quiet life among his own kind. Lydia Michaels brings in religion in a way that doesn’t overwhelm your senses but ties it in with a paranormal setting that is not usually tied to God and/or soulmates. The premise for the most part is that these immortals just heed the calling to connect/bond with their soul mates or they lose their immortality, their humanity, their lives as they know it. How to convince human Annalise that they are meant to be together? There is a lot of history, background, steam, love, hate and so much more in this story. Discover the Amish in a way you never really saw them before and surround yourself with a love story unlike any other with some great twists and enough background to make me beg to read more stories in this world.
Adam has heard what happens to a male if he can’t find a mate. He knows an arranged marriage will work (like his parents) but he’s holding out for a true mate. His beliefs are strong.
Annalise works in a bar, she’s in school studying to be a nurse. Living a frugal life until she’s saved enough to move out of her crappy apartment and upgrade her dying car. She likes the work, her regulars look after her and she looks after them.
This was a good read.
Different from the usual paranormal books I read.
Very strong on beliefs and the will of god (each to their own, but not for me)
Most mates are found and sort of wooed, But Adam practically kidnaps her. He thinks he’s entitled, he can woo her after they are wed!!
And Annalise, oh dear, not happy at all. Living her life on her own terms, she’s got a five year plan and it’s getting there, she’s even sort of dating the barman where she works (but I get the impression it’s mostly on his side)
Adam’s attitude to Annalise was winding me up a little (but if your brought up with that belief, it’s hard to see it any other way)
I don’t know how this is going to work! Annalise is a modern independent woman, Adam is not a modern man!!
Well written, very descriptive. You got the sense of urgency from Adam to find Annalise, you also got his frustration, but you also see him fight his dark side. He doesn’t want to turn into a vampire. He’d rather his family put him out of his misery. You rejoice with him, when he finally finds her, and you want to roll your eyes at his high handiness!!
You want to scream your frustration out at Annalise, her life has all been taken away, and at the sheer arrogance of the males in Adam’s village!!
I liked the idea of the dreams linking them together, Adam being able to track her, getting more information on her. I liked the idea that Annalise was involved, but hers were darker, did she sense Adam was almost ready to turn?
Twist at the end, Oh My God, did not see that coming!!! And for a minute there, I almost didn’t want to finish the book (it wasn’t looking good for Adam and Annalise!)
And it also leaves it open for a few other members to get a happy ending. And I really hope they get their books.
I highly recommend this book.
Original Sin by Lydia Michaels is the First book in The Order of Vampires Series. This is the story of Annalise Snow and Adam Hartzler. It is time for Adam to find his mate but has no ideal where or who. So he starts out on a journey to find her. Annalise dreams of a family of her own but she doesn’t trust easily. Annalise life is work and school so when Adam enters into he she isn’t so easy to give into her feelings at first. Love their story and a somewhat different setting that I have read before.
This ain’t your sparkling vampire story! I was so enthralled by this story . It had so many twists and turns, layer upon layer of fantastic story. I didn’t know what to expect going in. I had been kind of sick of vampire stories for over three years now. I was just tired of the same old, same old vampire stories. This was completely different. It’s like a retelling of Cain, Abel, Garden of Eden, and etc. I could go on and on. There were several intriguing scenarios and I was excited to start after reading Chapter 1. This heroine Annalise is feisty. I really like her independence and FUNNY attitude. I cackled at her first day on the farm. The secondary characters were so well done. The family and all their gifts were so well thought out. Grace reading her mind was hilarious. I did wonder about the other members in the family’s gifts. What gifts do Larissa, Joseph and Abilene have? I really hope that this series pans out. I want to see what happens with the rest of the family. Larissa is about to have a whole heap of trouble. I am very intrigued by the elders and the council. I loved the very vivid description of the farm and the city too. The couple had some fierce passion for each other and it was fun to read. The only thing I didn’t like was how Cain was introduced into the story. The brothers and family were close and that made no sense. I just have one BURNING question. Where is Isaiah?
I read the blurb and knew what to expect.
What I didn’t except was what I read.
This book is so much more beyond that blurb.
It is phenomenal!
Adam is an honorable noble man.
He has high morals scruples.
Adam also knows first hand what happens when one ignores or waits to long to find their mate.
When he finds her he uses all his will and power to stay in command of his senses.
Even when that restraint is detrimental to him.
But he is about to be tested and put to war with all the qualities he holds dear.
Annalise is truly a fighter.
I thought she had extreme inner strength.
Even when she couldn’t see it.
Anna is tough and strong and perseveres.
She is also compassionate and kind hearted.
Even though she doesn’t show it to the world because of being so jaded with it.
The connection that is between Adam and Anna is a real live entity.
There is something there that is indescribable.
It’s not only the fact they are mates.
It transcends that.
I loved how Ms. Michaels wove the old world with the modern.
And how she kept the integrity of each character while allowing them to grow and expand into their own unknowns.
I also loved the descriptions the author gives starting from each character to the traditions and everything beyond.
These vivid details brought the written words to life for me.
Even the dreams taking place are incredible!
What a captivating new world and series Ms. Michaels has created!
Each character is complex and intriguing.
There is so many layers to them all.
The storyline and plot is like something I’ve never come across before in vampire books.
Or any other kind of book for that matter. It’s original with a new concept to it.
This story is gripping and intense.
It’s dark mixed with light.
Filled with passion and lust.
Love and loss.
It’s sexy and sensual.
It’s about family and sacrifices and trust.
And most especially it’s a beautiful love story that’s complicated and truly unforgettable!
There was nothing I didn’t love about Original Sin.
It was absolutely breathtaking for me!
I’m so excited to read more from this stunning series.
So when I first read the blurb and saw the cover I was completely excited to read it. The beginning was very interesting and sad and then Lydia took the book in a direction I never would have thought that would happen. I just don’t think it worked for me nor found it interesting. I found too many inconsistencies with this story and characters. I started to dislike them in which they almost were sounding and acting too immature. Plot wise it also didn’t make sense. I know Im being vague, but Im not giving out spoilers. I also don’t think the cover matches the tone of the book.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I just finished this book and my mind is still reeling! There is so much going on, the emotion throughout will consume you, it’s all over the spectrum, not only what I felt, but I truly experienced everything Adam and Anna were going through. The push and pull, the uncertainty, the hope, the love, the realization and then betrayal before they come to their final conclusion is nothing less than fantastic storytelling. You know you’ve read something great when you finish a book and it leaves you feeling like this one does at the end.
Now I want the next one because I’m not even close to done with this world, I need more!
This is one emotional roller coaster of a story. It will have you in awe at how this story proceeds. It is spellbinding and an addiction that can’t be put down. The characters are amazingly beautiful and their personalities are felt throughout the story. The descriptions are fantastically vivid and easily to be pictured. This story is original and intriguing as it involves a group of people that I know little about and haven’t read any other with groups of Amish. I loved Adam and Annlise with their tempers and emotions that connect them together. It is a story that is a must read!!!!!!
I love Lydia’s ability to draw you in with her story telling! This is my first of this genre and i loved the way this book catapulted me to a world unknown and like Annalise I was confused but inexplicably drawn to need to know what happened next. I definitely recommend this to other’s especially if you love vampires
