Review for One is a Promise by Pam Godwin.
Dannielle “Danni” Angelo is one heroine you most likely want to be your BFF. Her naughty sense of humor… her wisecrack one-liner or two… her inner turmoil is something you’ll find refreshing. She will keep you entertained and captivated as you read this book.
In One is a Promise, we take a glimpse of what happened to Danni’s life and why it is hard for her to move on to another relationship. Danni thought she found her forever in Cole Hartman but suddenly life plays a trick and her forever was gone.
Then came Trace Savoy, literally barged into her life or should I say on her date and demand her immediate attention to discuss her employment. As Danni learned he’s her new boss. But Danni is not the kind of woman who will bend down to anyone’s command. The witty-sexy-banter between these two are really cute, funny and full of sexual tension. The attraction between Danni and Trace is undeniable. So many things happened before these two made it as a couple. Finally, Danni is happy with her life with Trace, and then someone from her past comes back.
But there’s one twist I didn’t see coming and I can’t wait to know the answer to that hanging question at the end. I hate to be in Danni’s shoes right now, but I want also to know the truth.
What a great start of a series! It was an enjoyable read from start to finish, the pacing is steady and you won’t get bored pinky promise! Characters that are adorable like Danni’s niece Angel, you’ve got to meet her. Oh, and since Pam Godwin wrote this expect some scorching scene that will leave you hot and bothered. It’s always time well-spent reading a book by this author and this new series is no exception. Can’t wait for Two is a Lie. If you haven’t read a book by this author I highly recommend this series because it’s worth it!
Review for Survival of the Richest
The story was so good that captivates me right from the start. The unexpected love triangle kept me glued to every scene. I loved the way the story unfolded. I’ve laughed, cried, swooned, and even became frustrated at times but so worth it. Can’t wait to start The Evolution of Man to see what will happen to Harper, Christopher and Sutton’s story. Survival of the Richest is definitely worth reading!
If you are a fan of love triangles, you need to read this like now! Amazing stories full of everything you need. Phenomenal authors that create the best stories in the best tropes. All stories will wreck you, you will try to find more to read on each story, they are all great and I am sure you will be reading them all in no time. I strongly suggest you prepare yourself to get the rest, it won’t be enough. Phenomenal compilation!
“LOVE TRIANGLE is a limited – time boxed set of full-length novels! Six books of torn desire from best selling authors. I includes:
1. DAMAGED by WILLOW WINTERS
2. ONE IS A PROMISE by PAM GODWIN
“One is a Promise” is the first book of her “Tangled Lies” series and it definitely does not disappoint. Have you read the teaser yet? Then you know there are three players in this tale but what you don’t know, and can’t until you experience it for yourself, is the emotional rollercoaster with it’s panty melting moments this book will take you on. Her characters, including the sub-characters, are so full of genuine personality and emotion they suck you right into the telling. (I have to admit to laughing out loud every time Danni interacts with her niece) I’ll definitely be reading the next book, “Two is a Lie” soon! There’s no other alternative but to give this book a 5* rating, it’s that good.
3. TAKEN by NATASHA KNIGHT
4. SURVIVAL OF THE RICHEST by SKYE WARREN
It’s been years since they’ve seen each other. Harper is now an accomplished artist and is getting ready for an exhibit. Christopher is sent an invitation which he surprises her and attends. Her mother and father will both be in the same room at the same time. This event will change their lives forever.
Skye Warren has taken these characters though such a maze of events. There were heart breaking moments that brought tears and then such a sexual chemistry that literally jumped off the pages. Throughout this entire book my loyalties bounce but always with the hope of these two coming together. This book ends in a cliffhanger so be prepared. The next one is waiting in the wings to be started as I type.
5. COMMITMENT by T. K. LEIGH
6. A LITTLE LIKE DESTINY by LISA SUZANNE
I originally picked up this anthology because two of my favorite authors had books inside. I’m going on the premise the four authors I’ve yet to be acquainted with will be of just as high caliber and look forward to finishing the entire things. This appears to have hours of enjoyment inside. I would recommend picking up this collection before time runs out.
I’ve read two of these- Damaged by Willow and Survival of the Richest by Skye. Here’s what I thought of those, and looking forward to reading the others in this set, which is free right now.
Damaged This is a heavy book. Not like, weight-wise. It’s normal size, especially on a kindle. But the turmoil, angst and heartbreak are super heavy.
Like, this was just plain sad. Willow just bummed me out for two hundred something pages. Evan and Kat’s marriage is falling apart. He’s holding secrets, and the truths he sets free are not any better. Plus she hasn’t really put forth effort, either. They have been drifting for awhile before this one thing happens. It just sucks. Not the book- the ending of what is supposed to be two people’s HEA.
This does not end in a happy way- it’s part one of a duet. Willow apparently loves torturing us all, making us really wait for and earn our happy ever afters.
Survival of the Richest- it’s really good. Sutton and Christopher and Harper. Not only a love triangle, but they’re also trying to work together while having different goals. Harper has a complicated relationship with her parents, and it seems she generally doesn’t think of herself first. She’s also smarter than she gives herself credit for. Sutton, I’d say is sweet? But there’s a moment in this book that shows he knows people underestimate him. He and Christopher are still mysteries to me, but especially Christopher. Like, I don’t understand half the things he does. He seems to care so much, but he’s closed off and makes hurtful decisions. You definitely will want to read The Evolution of Man afterwards, I was so drawn into their story.
If you are a fan of complex, emotional reads that offer a heavy dose of angst and heartache that can only come from the complications of a love triangle, this box set of books was created with you in mind. Six full length books by some very popular authors are included. I do feel that it is only fair to tell you though that to the best of my knowledge none of these books is a standalone read. They are all from duets, trilogies or series. Still, this is a great way to take these authors for a test drive and see if their work appeals to you if you are unfamiliar and if you are a fan there is no denying the value here. These books are intense, gut-wrenching and steamy. You can expect lots of emotional turmoil, drama, tension, intensity and even some darkness as you read through this entertaining and enjoyable box set.
One is a Promise
Everything I normally avoid in a story, but it is put together so beautifully, I couldn’t look away!
Taken
Whoa – that was not the cliffhanger I thought would happen. I wasn’t sure what it would be, but that wasn’t in the realm. So, so good though!
Survival of the Richest
This wasn’t quite like any other love-triangle I’ve read before, and I mean that in a good way!
Love triangles are one sure source of drama. And of good entertainment if they are written by these authors.
I can share my opinion of two books in this bunch.
Reading a book by Skye Warren is a pleasure on so many levels. Deep, subconscious, beautiful levels. There are so many things to love about this story. The sharp triangle of a woman torn between an unrequited love and a new powerful man who truly pursues her. The desperate longing to be valued and loved by a man who pushes her away in a twisted sense of righteousness. The sensual awakening, the subtle layers of male pride and desire.
To me, this story goes to all those places with masterful intensity, yet it also goes beyond to create a female soul full of light, sorrow, creativity and wonder. I absolutely loved Harper, the artist in her, the feminist voice of her inner thoughts, her love for a place whose ruined splendor called for an act of saving heroism.
As to whom would I choose? Sutton is presented as this charismatic, all-man alpha male who sees the potential in Harper. Of course, you’re going to root for this perfect specimen who can master a woman’s body. This novel is quite partial to him. Though if you read first the prologue, Trust Fun, you’ll do one thing and one thing only. Fall in love with Christopher.
My admiration and compassion are for Harper. That woman is the epitome of vulnerable, strong heroine.
The final part of this drama pulses with sacrifice and loss and surprises and betrayal. Not until the very last pages do you realize the whole truth about these two men, and it was glorious. I’m completely consumed by Harper’s dilemma.
Now, the book by Pam Godwin. As soon as I got wind of this thrilling romance, I became obsessed with reading it. What’s not to covet about a woman’s heart divided between two worthy men? I had to know how that played out.
From the start, Danni is a relatable character. She’s smart, a free spirit and she will stand up to anyone who tries to tease her. She’s also devastated by the loss of Cole, but trying and failing to regain control over her heart. Until an arrogant Norse god blasts into her life. Wow, that first encounter between Danni and Trace Savoy is mesmerizing. The description of his physique and the power his presence exerts over others was really impressive. The whole writing style is elegant, understanding of the precious feelings of bereavement and the sensuality of the senses reawakening. Of course, it could only be outstaged by Cole and Danni’s bizarre and splendid meeting in the past. I fell in love with both of them and his motorcycle.
Cole’s presence is like a storm, brewing on the horizon with the promise of despair and eternal love. Lost to her, he’s also the knife that slashes the growing, desperate bond between Danni and Trace in half. I loved the provoking dialogues full of wit, twisted humour and gutting emotions. I suffered as this casino-owner hardens his resolve not to give into her temptation because her heart is still in the past. Though his mix of warm gesture of nearness and his cruel disposition to keep her at bay when she’s so needy for love is quite heartless L
What happened in the past is shown in a few chapters interspersed among the present life chapters when Danni meets this emotionally unavailable rich man. The last part is brimming with vicious emotions and angry passion, torn second chances and a plot twist that I had envisioned coming with wicked glee. It’s gloriously soul-wracking. I truly admire the powerful prose. My only complaint is that the last line in this first part of the trilogy feels too abrupt an ending. I’d like it more rounded with some narrative.
Enjoy!
