Chances are, you never know what story might be in the very next chapter . . .When recently divorced Allie Barrett receives a letter notifying her that she’s inherited her deceased uncle’s home and fishing charter business in Oregon, she quickly decides the coastal town of Pacific Bay might be the perfect place to start over and raise her eleven-year-old son. But her high hopes are dashed when … hopes are dashed when she discovers the quaint home on the bay is really a ramshackle dump in severe need of renovation and the fishing charter is a run-down business requiring an infusion of financial capital she does not have. Worse, the town mayor and her son are her competition and employ extreme measures to block her success.
With a surprise money source in hand, and the help of a no-nonsense widower who offers the love she’s always wanted, Allie finally finds things turning around in her favor. In fact, her story might just have a happy ending . . . that is, until her good-for-nothing ex, Deacon Ray, shows up and complicates matters.
This heartfelt story is filled with charm and quirky, fun characters and is sure to please readers looking for the perfect beach read!

What a winner. Absolutely loved this first
Book in the Pacific Bay series. The descriptions of the sounds and smells and sights of this tiny ocean time paint such a vivid picture
Down on her luck Allie demonstrates great courage as she heads out from Texas to the Pacific coast. She has inherited property from her long lost uncle. Along with her young son Ryan, Allie applies lots of elbow grease to restore the house to living conditions. Her persistence pays off when against the odds she also restores his boat to working order. Just when it seems things are going her way, ex-husband Deacon Ray shows up, supposedly looking for a second chance. How will New friend Cam accept the arrival of Deacon Ray? Can Allie succeed at second chances.
A great read! Can’t wait for the next one
The story was very, very similar to Murphy’s Romance. Same basic story with just some character and situational changes. Some of the language was the same as Murphy’s Romance.
I liked this book. It was interesting and I liked the ending. Really liked the characters.
Living in Oregon and reading a book set in Fictional Oregon town it is easy to spot the errors in the writing. Other than the Geographical errors it was great!
This book is a bit too much like the “Murphy’s Romance” movie even down to the babies at the end.
This is a cute romance with a main character who seems to jump from helpless to in charge and everywhere in between. The pieces of her new life fall into place too easily. Her son’s character felt too undeveloped. It was a sweet, quick read, but lacking depth.
Easy read. Sometimes I just want to relax and not have to think! This took me to the coast and while reading I imagined hearing the waves and fresh salt air. Good book for a lazy rainy day.
Divorced mother inherits uncle’s home and excursion boat. Moves to quaint Oregon town to start new life. Many changes come into her life through a new romance, irresponsible husband returning and other complications Original story, good read and well told.
A quick, light read. Allie moves from Texas to Oregon with her 11 year old son. She inherited a house a boat when her uncle dies. A bit too much bad luck, a few unbelievable happenings and everything wraps up smoothly.
so wanted her to kick her ex to the curb from day one!
A grand as well as remarkable story of a self-reliant and tolerant woman finding love and passion of her life!
Copied from Murphy’s Romance.
Only made it half way, when she let her ex stay, I left. Sorry
Not realistic, but a good escape for these days.
Pathetic…copied almost verbatim from the movie Murphy’s Romance
I was enjoying the story. It was building nicely. Then her ex shows up and turned my stomach totally and her response to him pissed me off so I closed the book. I decided after a break to at least read the final chapters to see if it redeemed itself. Nice ending, credibility issues. Not enough to make me read the middle.
