A place to call home. A place without vampires. Funny how life can suck you dry!
Riley Milton, in her tiger form, killed a vampire sent by her pride alpha to bring her in. With female shifters disappearing, she fears she will be next. To keep her safe, her brother covertly moves them to New Hope. A place that offers protection and friendship. A place she can call home. A place with no vampires.
vampires.
The plan is foolproof then Riley meets her mate who is. . .wait for it. . .a vampire. And not just any vamp, but the most powerful one in existence—Calum O’Keefe.
Calum O’Keefe has been on earth so long, he has lost count of the years. Life has become boring and money’s no object. The only place that offers any excitement is Death Hunter’s territory.
And lookie, lookie who he finds—Riley Milton, a timid shifter who makes his ancient heart beat again. Life is looking up until his family is attacked and Riley goes missing.
What’s a vampire to do? Rescue the girl, make her his mate, and kill anyone who tries to stop him.
more
Riley and her brother, Caz, have moved to New Hope to get away from their former pride. They’ve opened a store and are starting to settle in. When Callum, a vampire, walks into their store, Riley is attracted to him but she’s leery. Can Callum win her over and help her stay safe when the past shows up in town?
I’m really enjoying the Death Hunters series. Each book is a stand-alone, but the characters from other books have an active part in each book. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Read in KU
This book was intense!! There was so much happening in it, I couldn’t put it down.
I liked the character of Riley. I felt like she showed a lot of growth in this book. You could see early on that she wanted to be stronger but she just needed a push and also someone to tell her brother to ease up. She is someone who is constantly living in fear and just wants to live and have friends. Moving to a new city was the best thing for her. Making friends with the girls brought her the family and courage to do what she wanted to do.
I understood Caz. He was a protector by nature. Not only was it his job it was his duty as Riley’s older brother. I loved that he just wanted to care for her and try and lesson anymore pain but I liked when people started telling him that he needed to stand down and let her make her own decisions.
I LOVED Calum. He was a perfect match for Riley. He understood she had been hurt and that she needed time. He also understood her brother hated him for being a vampire. Above all that, I loved that he understood not pressuring, he also knew that she was his. He put himself in her presence to get her use to him. He knew that her brother would eventually come around he just had to be patient.
Riley’s other form may be a huge Tiger but she feels less than badas in her human skin. Her Pride was not exactly healthy, rotten from the Alpha down. She narrowly missed becoming another of his victims. But she and her brother are determined to escape and they use the Death Hunters to get out.
Now settling into New Haven, Riley still feels overshadowed by her big brother. He’s over prtective to the extreme but can’t he see that’salmost as damaging as not caring at all.
Caz has Big Brother Syndrome. He just can’t see past Riley as his little sister. I did sooooo wnat to give him a punch more than once! Calum can be just as protective as Caz but understood her need to do things for herself. He understands the fear that Riley has after killing one of his kind – but he and that type of vampire are worlds apart. He’ll give her enough time to get used to him but not too much to get away from him. After all he’s just fund his forever and he has no plans on letting anyone take her away from him!
I loved how Calum was patient but oh sneaky with it! He treated Riley as his from the start but just went softly-softly under her defences. Great characters with flaws and a strong storyline. Snarky dialogue between all the friends as usual. LOVED it.
I love the death hunters series. All the characters are so loving and friendly. They protect the town and each other. You will not be able to put this book down until the end. Incredibly addictive and fun read.
Riley is a strong tiger with a troubled past. She is strong and sweet. She’s very talented. I love how her friendship with the ladies of new hope brings her out of her shell and helps her have fun and smile.
Calum is a powerful vampire and a nice guy to have as your friend. He’s exactly what Riley needs to finally find herself and happiness. They are perfect soulmates.
This is a wonderful continuation of a must-read series. Author Bryce Evans is great at creating addictive stories that you must read in one day.
The scent of love
Vampires, tigers and bears, oh and wolves, oh my. Every book in this series just gets better. Each one adds an enrichment to the overall storyline and brings a tale of love and danger, friendship and excitement. I love all of the characters, the old ones are like friends who get better with time, and the new ones bring their own layer of emotions to add to the story. I love how the author brought this book from hate to family, and how the bad guys got exactly what they deserved. I don’t know how many more stories the author is planning for this series, but I hope it is at least one more.
