Jacqueline Frye, a freshly-minted private investigator, becomes embroiled in a missing persons mystery á la H.H. Holmes when she heads to Chicago for a wedding.

On wow, I loved this book. This is the second book and I can certainly say the series has me hooked. It is not left on a cliff hanger as such but does leave it set up for the next book (and you wondering what is wrong) and I can’t wait to find out what is going to happen next. All the books in the series are based on similar (if not copycat) murders committed by serial killers. If that wasn’t interesting enough this book all revolves around a hotel and the many secret passages hidden underneath. The mystery was really good and full of twists that I didn’t see coming but it is the characters that I really like. I enjoyed the first book, was a little undecided if the main characters ability to ignore the danger or advice would get annoying but all that changed in this book and she comes across smart, loyal, and caring, all great traits for a main character to have. I am off to stay the next book.
Jacqueline “Jacks” gets a phone call from her best friend, her sister the bridezilla is driving her mad and with the wedding still two seems away she needs Jacks help to mediate. Jack’s is thrust into wedding preparations as soon as she arrives at the hotel but that doesn’t stop her from over hearing that one of the other guests has left with out paying and she isn’t the first woman that month to do so. Then the missing woman’s sister turns up demanding to know we’re her sister is. Unfortunately after the bachelorette’s party Jacks and the rest of the bridesmaids stumble over her body in an alleyway behind the hotel. Things get even more real when one of the bridesmaids does a disappearing act. Does the killer have her or has she gone home traumatised after finding the body? Jacks is on the case but with her best friend acting series and keeping her own secrets Jacks will have to find help somewhere else. Can she find the missing woman before the wedding? And find out what is troubling her friend?
I really liked the narrator. She does some wonderful voices that just help capture the imagination and bring the story to life, you could even be watching it in tv.
