If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I absolutely refuse to tell a lie no matter the consequences. So don’t ask me a direct question unless you’re prepared for a direct answer—that’s something my SoCal sewing girlfriends have learned the hard way.But who would have thought my honesty policy would get me fired from my job at the preschool? Or that a desperate—and not to mention … mention devastatingly handsome—single father of one of my (now-former) students would hire me that same day as a nanny for his daughter?
I’m an education professional. How hard can taking care of a four-year-old and her over-stressed, over-worked father be?

“Don’t fall in love with the family you work for.”
A nanny’s number one rule, right? If it were only that easy. . . . . since the “family” includes one #doctorswoony and his beautiful little girl.
When Molly Jane Osbourne’s compulsive honesty pushes her a bit too far, she suddenly finds herself dutifully unemployed. Dr. Ben Reed, the father of one of Molly’s used-to-be students, is having a terrible time juggling single fatherhood with his unpredictable hours as a medical resident, so after overhearing Molly’s rather awkward termination conversation, he suddenly finds himself re-employing her as his daughter’s nanny.
And that’s how it all began. Molly is certainly sunshine on a cloudy day that Ben never remembered waking up to; but can she, would she, could she . . . become more?
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” – Dr. Seuss
What a fun story!
“He loved his daughter beyond compare. Was there anything sexier on this planet than a father who adored and doted on and protected his offspring?”
Oh my goodness, the heart of a single father and his love for his daughter shines in this book and will thoroughly melt your heart. No wonder Molly is so taken with Ben and his daughter. It more than makes up for losing her job and becoming a nanny for him. This is a sweet and swoony romance with a fun SoCal setting. I admit I wasn’t so sure about the “sewing” group, but honestly, I loved it by the end and want my own sewing group! Molly is a true friend, which I really loved about her.
“Diversity is one of the things that makes this country beautiful. That makes it great. Don’t try to white-wash history or current events to fit your misconceptions.”
Monzon has a way with bringing out serious subjects in the midst of humor and wow did she knock it out of the park with “Molly.” She isn’t afraid to tackle issues surrounding culture and racism. She teaches how friends can talk through the struggles and enlightens readers about the prejudices around them. Her words are inspiring and I wish I could publish them across the headlines. Another subject that is often overlooked in healthy ways is the area of grief. Monzon walks Ben through the grayness of days into light shining color into his life with Molly. With a focus on how God can help in the healing process, this book is truly a jewel to finding a happy ending.Truly an inspiring, heartfelt read.
“then shafts of light shoot through and you wonder to yourself, what is that? The thick fog thins and all that was shadowy and gray comes into focus and color.”
The essence of living and finding the life God has for you…that’s what this story truly shares. Letting go of the past to find your happily ever after…with unicorns, sprinkles and a lot of pink thrown into the mix for a special little girl.
With humor, romance, and lovable characters this is a great new series! Don’t miss it, especially if you are a contemporary romance or romantic comedy fan. I’m looking forward to Jocelyn’s story next and seeing what this sewing group does next!
A new romantic comedy by Sarah Monzon, Molly alternates first person POVs between the fun title character and Ben, our hero.
When Molly’s determination to always tell the truth gets her fired (that sounds really noble, I know, but I bet you’ll find yourself giggling while still feeling bad for her…), the single man who accidentally witnesses this event ends up hiring her on the spot. As Molly nannies for his 4-year-old daughter and gets to know Ben better, she finds herself pondering more and more what honesty and love are really about. We get to also meet Molly’s sewing group (aka her best friends) and get a good taste of their personalities — I’m looking forward to getting to know them even better later on when they each get their own books!
Sarah Monzon writes vibrant characters who are real and relatable. As a reader, I always find myself wanting to cheer them on, wishing I could actually be friends with them. The characters in Molly fit in with this description so well. The plot is creative and colorful, keeping the pages turning as fast as possible.. while still trying to somehow savor this sweet tale.
Get your copy asap! This is the first book in the Sewing in SoCal series, and you’ll want to read them all. Yeah, I know they aren’t all written yet, but trust me anyway.
I really want to call this book a cupcake, BUT there’s much too much substance for it to be solely cake. There is, however, some mouth-watering Mexican street corn that makes an appearance within these pages… and I think all the flavors that work together to make that corn so perfect fit this storyline really well. It could be easy to just say “oh, romantic comedy is just fluff”, and honestly, probably a lot of it is. But that’s not the kind I like to read. I need depth, something that matters. This book has it.
Excellent narrative! Loved this story. I could not stop listening. Excellent storyline.

With a flare of humor, a boatload of cuteness, and a sweet romance Molly is a five-star rom-com!
Having seen the cover of Molly quite a while ago I have been looking forward to reading it, I’ve enjoyed Mrs. Monzon’s books two years now, after winning a copy of her Book Nerds and Boyfriends and was hooked!
So, I highly recommend you go order your copy … NOW!
17 up due to this being a romance and . . . Well, sometimes Molly’s always telling the truth brings her to, well, awkward conversations.
I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Want a cute, fun read that will make you laugh? I really was laughing at this sewing themed, honest preschool teacher as I read it. It was a relief to enjoy it, no matter what was going on in the world around us. You will find yourself eagerly waiting for the next book and hoping Ms. Monzon writes super fast as we need more of these in the world.
Molly. She cannot tell a lie! Or can she? You will have to read Molly to find out! I really enjoyed Molly, both the book and her character. It was a perfect blend of funny and serious to make reading so much fun and meaningful. The cast of characters were easy to follow and memorable. I found them all relatable, flawed and likable. This book was mostly pure fun and a perfect book to curl up with to enjoy an afternoon or evening. This is the first in a new series, and I can’t wait for the next book!
Molly is Sarah Monzon’s first novel in the Sewing in SoCal series. If ever one could judge a book by its cover, this is it. The cover is delightful as is this sweet and funny romantic comedy. The idea of friends who sew together is a unique one. I can’t wait to see where the author goes with this group.
Molly is filled with all kinds of “heart moments” – humorous, touching, serious, and just downright fun! It has all the elements of a great romantic comedy read – a likeable heroine, a hunky doctor, a cute little girl, awesome best friends, and even unicorns!
I highly recommend this book for a great summer (or anytime) read. I will certainly read the next book in the series.
I was given a copy of this book by the author, but was not required to give a positive review.
A fun story!
My rating is 4.5 stars
It is difficult for me to start a review of a book that has adorable children in it without starting to talk about them first. So I won’t restrain myself.
Chloe was adorable! She was snuggly and precocious, adored unicorns, and loved putting makeup on her daddy. And was known to throw a temper tantrum or two. And told typical-for-toddlers nonsensical “jokes”.
And her daddy? Ben? Oh!! He melted my heart with his love for his little girl. Sure, he was obsessive about cleanliness but he had good reason. Which I’m not gonna tell you. He meticulously cleansed himself of any vestige of the hospital he interned at before leaving the premises to ensure he wouldn’t bring home any disease for Chloe to catch. He had been broken by grief and was torn between his need to care for his daughter and the internship that was taking over his life!
Enter Molly. Who was painfully honest. She refused to lie. Ever. And had, apparently, lost more than one job as a result. Which sounds crazy! I mean, what employer wouldn’t want an honest employee? Yeah, you’ll figure that one out pretty quickly. Molly had a tender heart even if she was a bit blunt about it.
In addition to the above, I enjoyed the way Ben was such a hero, rushing in to help when he could. And his capable manner in the face of danger. The trip to the beach was humorous! There were myriad references to children’s stories, which were lots of fun. And all the animals Chloe was compared to, while completely apropos, made me laugh!
Honestly? Molly’s need to tell the truth really did need to be tempered. Some of the things she answered were not necessary, even in the face of total disclosure. I am old fashioned enough that some of the discussions, while not not clean, were ones that make me slightly uncomfortable – like why the seals were riding “piggyback” or what the paper-wrapped tube in Molly’s purse was. There were also several references to bodily fluids and functions that I prefer not having mentioned (oh my! What he compared her hair to! It’s a good thing it wasn’t out loud!!!). Were they necessary? Meh.
Molly is a delightful, humorous story. Though written by a Christian author, it is closer to Inspirational Fiction than Christian fiction. The characters were Christians and attended church, however, there were minimal spiritual references and the changes Molly and Ben went through were not attributed to anything spiritual. (I only mention this because of its Christian fiction classification on Amazon.)
I had fun seeing hints of the stories of Molly’s friends and look forward to seeing more of them in the continuing Sewing in SoCal series.

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Can life get any more strange for Molly? It seems to change with the flip of a coin, one minute she doing one thing and the next it’s something entirely different.
OH! I really didn’t want this book to end! I wanted to keep reading more about Molly and Ben, and what life has in store for them. I felt like they had become my friends and I was part of their lives. I loved all the banter and tension between the two main characters, but I also loved getting to know Chloe. She was such a spitfire and a fun, sweet character!
The characters in this book came alive and captured my heart. They went through issues in their lives where they needed to dig deep and really search for answers. They also found the strength to meet those battles through their friends and through God.
Now I would be crazy if I left out the wonderful friends Molly had. Those ladies all had great personalities and quirkiness! I can’t wait to get to know them in the next books.
Sarah Monzon has written another fantastic book and the beginning of a new series. I really will be waiting on pins and needles to read the next books in this series.
I highly recommend picking up this book, it’s fun and delightful!
I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am a fan of Sarah Monzon’s Book Nerds and Boyfriends novella, so when she announced she was writing some full-length romcoms/chick lit books, I was on board before reading the first word.
And y’all, Molly (book one in Monzon’s Sewing in SoCal series) was everything I expected and more. From the title character with pink hair who loses her job because she can’t tell a lie—and this little episode had me rolling—to the handsome Ben, doctor and daddy extraordinaire. Add in cute little Chloe and a group of girlfriends who know Molly better than she knows herself, and this is one read that both delights and digs deep.
Each of the characters in this book is so relatable, I can’t help but wish they were real and lived next door to me! I’m looking forward to more shenanigans with the sewing friends and what Monzon has instore for the others.

Molly was a delightfully fun story to read! It was hard to put down! I loved the comedy and the witty conversations between Molly and Ben. I enjoyed getting to know both of them. I wish they were real.
I liked how Sarah Monzon weaved the Lord’s truth throughout the story. I think the reader can learn right along with Molly and Ben.
Molly is a great book to read. Its s light hearted and laughter filled story that is perfect for a relaxing afternoon.
I recommend this book to my family and friends.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. I also purchased a copy for myself. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Sarah Monzon’s new book was a fun romantic comedy. I loved the character of Molly and her refusal to never tell a lie. As a teacher myself, the opening scene had me literally laughing out loud. I can’t imagine explaining to a child what she explained. I also loved the character of Ben. His description definitely reminded me of one of the handsome doctors from Grey’s Anatomy. Little Chloe’s character was delightful, and some of the things she would say were so much like what my nieces would have said at that age. All in all, this was a fun book that uplifted my spirits when I really needed it. It would make a great beach read. I am looking forward to the next books in the series and getting to know more of Molly’s quirky friends.
Honesty can be a virtue, a coping mechanism and, in cases where matters of work or the heart are involved … a liability. Molly Osbourne, the chronically candid title character in Sarah Monzon’s newest romantic comedy novel, has the dubious distinction of experiencing the consequences of all three.
Molly is a delightfully funny protagonist, but her quirkiness doesn’t detract from the charm of her innately loving personality. That charm certainly isn’t lost on Dr. Ben Reed, a kind and occasionally hapless widower whose life is centered on caring for patients and his adorable four-year-old daughter. When Ben hires Molly to look after his daughter, sigh-inducing chemistry ensues, but to turn it into something lasting, they have to overcome past heartache and present insecurities.
Molly and Ben’s story is a wonderful blend of funny romantic escapism and character authenticity. There are swoon-worthy moments galore, but the fact that they are brought to life by two flawed and multi-layered characters gives these moments a sweetness and honesty that you don’t often find in romantic comedies.
I highly recommend this book to fans of uplifting love stories with plenty of laughs.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not obliged to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.
5 Stars! (Scratch that, I give it all the stars in the sky!)
This book is rom-com perfection!
Sarah Monzon is one of my favorite authors, and anytime she writes a new book I automatically want to read it even before I know a thing about it, such was the case with Molly! This book was at the top of my most anticipated list for 2020! A quirky, pink haired heroine who refuses to tell a lie? A hunky, single dad, doctor hero? SIGN ME UP!
As soon as I started this ARC I was completely immersed in the story and before I knew it I was at the halfway mark, and I totally would have finished it in one sitting if, you know, life hadn’t interfered with my reading time (Grrrrr!)
Oh my goodness, Molly is everything I dreamed it would be and so much more!
I was spellbound from page one, and I loved every single word!
Molly was a fabulous character that I found myself relating to quite a bit, she is so loveable and delightfully real, and she’s someone I’d love to be friends with! And Ben, can you say dreamboat? He is so kind, caring, protective, devoted, selfless, funny, incredibly sweet, and just the tiniest bit adorably nerdy. He had me melting from the beginning, at which point he stole my heart and has yet to return it to me! Ladies, you’re going to want to have your fan and perhaps a fainting couch handy because Dr. Ben Reed is swoony with a capital S!
Chloe is adorable, and she has become one of my all time favorite child characters! I loved the other ladies in the sewing group and I’m so looking forward to reading each of their stories (and can I just say that Sewing in SoCal is the BEST series title ever?!)
This book is absolutely hilarious, before I finished chapter three I had lost count of how many times this book made me laugh out loud! This book kept me in stitches from start to finish, and there isn’t a single thing about this book that I would change!
This book made my heart smile, and there truly aren’t words to describe just how much I loved it!
This book is perfection! It’s a must read that I can’t recommend highly enough! Buy it, read it, you won’t be sorry!
Molly is beyond amazing, completely delightful, and definitely has a spot on my list of favorite reads of 2020!
I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher. Which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own!
