A ruse can only last so long… since there are several other ladies vying for him. Who better to send in her place than Tillie? What gentleman would notice a maid, even one disguised as a lady? So when Sophia asks this favor of Tillie, or rather—threatens her into it, Tillie must rely on her past, the life of a proper lady, if she hopes to keep her position at Sedgwick Manor.
Disguised as her mistress, Tillie takes a coach across the country to a new place, one both unfamiliar and frightening. With so much at stake, she does all she can to stay quiet and invisible. But when she inadvertently catches Mr. Hill’s attention, she realizes she may have more to lose than her livelihood. She may very well lose her heart.

I loved this story! Tillie and Mr. Hill were adorable. However, many of the characters did not endear themselves to me. The spoiled young ladies needed to be taken down a peg or two. Perhaps in future books?
Praise from the Clean Romance Team:
“One seriously swoony romance!”
“Wonderful romantic tension!”
Add this to my top favorite books!!! I won this book in a giveaway and was exited to start it but didn’t realize how much it was going to pull me in! Love that kind of surprise!
The Last Eligible Bachelor by Ashtyn Newbold is incredible! It takes you to a different world of romance and away from the stress of real life! I love how Mr. Hill is such a mystery at first. Tillie has some quick wit and she definitely met her match! Their banter… so adorable and light hearted! Part of me wished I could read the story from his view too, but part of me loved the mystery of Mr Hill! The further I read into the book the more and more I loved the characters.
I adored this book and only half way thru I knew it would be put in my reread list when I need a good pick me up! It was a light and entertaining read! *sigh*
I wasn’t able to stop reading until I finished. Such great characters from the hero and heroine, to all the others. I have read several of this author’s books and I do believe this is my favorite. I read this through Kindle Unlimited, but I am definitely going to be buying this so I can read anytime. I highly recommend this book.
I loved Tillie’s selflessness, Ashtyn Newbold wrote Tillie with such a purity and altruism that you instantly love her. Both her and Mr. Hill are innately selfless people, and it made the story feel like a breath of fresh air.
Tillie and Frederick’s romance is definitely a slow burn and done wonderfully well.
The familial connections gave the book an added depth that pulled you even more into each of the characters’ lives and hearts.
The book as a whole had a really good balance between character and plot and I enjoyed it immensely from start to finish.
Matilda/Tillie Sherbrooke was about twenty-two and very pretty but her problem was her father had been accused of stealing and had gone to Cranberry Goal. He had been there for three months so far.
Her mom was a maid in the same household as she was. Sophia Sedgwick was the lady she took care of. She didn’t mind the hard work or long hours. The Sedgwicks decided to send their daughter to a matchmaker. She wanted to see her friend at Hampden Park but they felt her time better spent trying to find a husband. So she came up with her big idea, They would go to Bibury by way of Hampden Park. She would stay there and Tillie and Jesse another maid, would go on. Tillie would take her place. She could not make herself obvious. Sophia was a brat, vicious, cruel, and just plain nasty.
Mr. Hill was very handsome and kind. He didn’t want the usual woman for his wife. His oldest brother was supposed to have inherited but decided to go his own way and left his parents with no choice but to disinherit him. So they turned to Mr. Hill to start to train for when he had to take over.
The two of them had so many trails in this story. There were four other women vying for his attention. His brother comes back broken begging his. parents to take him back and his parents do. Which leaves Mr. Hill swinging in the wind. I found the tale interesting and very entertaining. The characters were warm and endearing. In spots it even made you cry. There was so much going on. You could feel Mr. Hill’s frustration with it all and she was so worried that he might find out she was no longer a lady but a maid. She fought throughout to keep herself from falling in love. If you love Historical Romance I really think you might enjoy this book.
I received this ARC from the author and publisher and voluntarily reviewed it.
So good I stayed up to 1 a.m. just to finish the book. Lots of good twists & surprises. I didn’t know where the reading journey would take me &I enjoyed the trip! I was hooked early on in the story. Ashyton Newbold kept me there with giving up just enough answers to questions but not enough to where I could put the book down without dying to know what would happen next. I thought the h great & able to find the silver lining in life. Good characters, even the villains. My only caveat to the enjoyment was I did wonder about the h’s father future.
Would everything be restored to him?
Oh. My. Goodness. This book by Ashtyn Newbold is one you need to pick up! I would have never thought of a plot kind of like The Bachelor set in Regency times. But that is what this book is. And it’s the best!
The main female character of this one is Tillie. But for most of the book she’s known as Sophia. I had to laugh when the young lady that Tillie is a lady’s maid for insisted she go to a house party in her place. The sneaky girl figured out a way for her to be elsewhere. And to have Tillie pretend to be her, but not well enough to have the gentleman there fall in love.
But Tillie is constantly getting herself into trouble. In her first two minutes at the house party, she manages to spill tea and tarts all over the floor and the gentleman in question. And make herself, well Sophia really, look like a fool. This scene was hilarious! And she’s constantly doing things like this.
I really liked Mr Hill. It takes just the right kind of gentleman to overlook the beauty and grace of the other 5 girls and focus on Tillie, even though she tries to avoid him. The scenes with these two together were my favorite scenes in this book.
If you like Regency romance, you really should grab this one right away!
I was sent an e-copy of The Last Eligible Bachelor as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.

Rating: 5/5

So glad I saw this recommendation on Instagram. Available on KU! Quick and easy read that is so romantic and cute and funny and charming. I loved the banter between the two main characters. As I was reading I could totally see this book as a movie.
PG content.
Highly recommend if you enjoy regency romance with charming characters. Great summer read!
I definitely need to read more from this author!
I loved this book so much. It was just what I needed to read right now.
Tillie Sherbrooke and Mr. Hill are one of my favorite couples. I loved them together. They had the best banter and the sweetest moments together.
A house party is always fun but this was a great take on one with it being a matchmaking party for Mr. Hill.
The end also had a few twists I liked that kept it from being predictable.
Read this book! It’s fun, and sweet, and so worth your time and money.
Oh, my word! I absolutely loved this book and I think it is my new favorite by this author. Tillie has lost her social standing due to a family scandal and is now employed as a ladies maid. Her employer forces her to impersonate her at a house party designed for several women to meet an eligible bachelor, Mr. Hill. Imagine a well done regency version of the Bachelor.
The chemistry between Tillie and Mr. Hill was magical and Tillie’s antics at the house party were hilarious. The book was well paced and the romance was seriously swoon worthy.
This was a wonderful addition to the Seasons of Change series though this can certainly be read as a stand-alone novel. Ashtyn Newbold has long been an auto-read author for me and this book perfectly illustrates why.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author but am voluntarily leaving a review of my own opinions.
Ashtyn Newbold is an exceptionally talented Regency author. I’ve adored her work for years. In this new novel, you’ll love Tillie’s journey to love and her determination to be true to herself, even when she’s pretending to be someone else. 😉
4.5* This was a sweet romance with delayed revelations that added an air of mystery. I really enjoyed the story – the small parts that were less plausible did not detract from the storyline. The descriptions were a nice touch and the characters were likeable and consistent. Ashtyn Newbold did a lovely job with this book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
As I was reading this, I kept thinking that it’s a solid four star read. Then I got to the last third and my mind and heart turned to mush. I love, love, love it!
Ashtyn is an auto-read for me. Her covers are lovely and perfectly suited to the content. She expertly weaves witty banter, a little bit of heartache, and delightful characters into a clean romance. I love the slow burn that steadily increases and persuades me to turn page after page. Just one more chapter is on repeat until there are none left. This is no exception.
My (current) favorite Jane Austen book is Persuasion. The love letter is everything. It’s the culmination of all the love lost, regret, rediscovery, and timid hope. Part of this book gave me the same spark.
The POV is first person and all Tillie. She has a lot to be negative about but she’s pragmatic and unintentionally amusing. She is forced to meet Mr. Hill and “compete” for his affections. He’s practically perfect and one of my new favorite leading men.
Fans of Ashtyn Newbold are sure to enjoy The Last Eligible Bachelor. With a great buildup and romantic tension, this novel will have you anxiously reading to the end to see how Tillie and Mr. Hill ever achieve their happily ever after. I loved the way the Tillie and Mr. Hill came together and the anticipation of their first kiss, which did not disappoint, was super swoon worthy! Definitely a book I enjoyed and recommend.
This is one of those books, that you don’t want to end! I loved everything about this story! The plot is fun and interesting, holding my attention from the first page to the last. I read it in a day! The characters are engaging and witty. There was strong and ardent chemistry between Mr. Hill and Tillie, but is was held to the clean wholesome romance guidelines. It is part of the series, but all the books are standalone novels. I think I have read most all of Ashton Newbold’s books and loved them all. I thank her for my review copy and I highly recommend it to all hopeless romantics!
