This book was a really cool start to this series. I don’t read many shifter/werewolf books but I’m really glad I checked this one out. I found myself constantly rooting for a different character which was great. Areaux did a fantastic job of creating characters you can’t help but love. You can never pick a clear favorite. She also created an atmosphere that you want to be apart of. I want to move to Shady Oaks!
The story could be good but wasn’t. Very juvenile, derivative, and in need of a good editor. The author kept mixing up the people. It read more like a rough draft that the author made plot changes to without fixing the story line. I have read worse writing but not by very much.
Poorly edited. Characters were appearing and disappearing in scenes, some scenes seemed to have been written twice – different ways- but one was never deleted. I made it about 30% of the way and gave up.
This book needs to go back to editing. The names of the 2 main male peers keep getting interchanged, Asher and Maddox. In 1 paragraph Asher is escorted out of the house by the father. In the next Asher is there in the house while they are discussing shifter secrets. At thIs point is he or isn’t he a shifter? He is not and doe sn’t belong back in the house. I got to chapter 14 and had enough confusion and went to the last chapter. The beginning of which ended up being no better, thought I missed the beginning of a dream sequence in the previous chapter but going back still made no sense. The other fact that should have been brought up is that they were able to shift to other forms. Most weres shift into 1 animal. The story line is good it just needs a thorough rewrite.
Very entertaining, good read
Very difficult getting past editing issues throughout this short story. I find it difficult to think there’s more to the story.
I’m not exactly sure what I expected when I picked up this book, but I can tell you it wasn’t long enough. When Elle pictured turning 16 and gearing up for summer, she didn’t picture spending it with her elderly aunt. Imagine not knowing who you or your family really are until some major life changes start to occur with out warning. Especially if it involves four legs and fur.
You get some romance in there and I’m not Gonna lie I rooted for Maddox. Perfect for anybody who loves ya paranormal books especially about shifters. Can’t wait to get my hands on book two to see where the next adventure lies.
