“Hooked on You is a sweet treat read that will give you all the good feels!” – USA Today and WSJ bestselling author Avery Flynn I’m a bookworm, a mathematician, not the kind of girl a hot lobster fisherman would notice. Until he did. I’m not in small town Nova Scotia to hook up. I’m here to settle my grandmother’s estate and sell the B&B, which I soon discover has been overrun with … B&B, which I soon discover has been overrun with seasonal fishermen and operated on the honor system. The hard-core fishing folks become an instant family–the one I never had. Then there’s the blind pet cow, who has a crush on my hot fisherman, Nate. Okay, technically he’s not mine. I have no desire to get reeled in.
Until I do.
Soon, the little town grows on me, and the fisherman? It’s not long until I take the bait and we’re playing house at the B&B. Things are looking up.
Until they aren’t.
Rumors about a new plant and jobs being in jeopardy start swirling around town like a nor’easter, and all the signs point to my guy being behind the scandal. Should I give him enough line to play it out and learn his true intentions, or cut and run before I’m hooked?

This was a sweet small town romance that I devoured in one sitting. This is my first time reading this author and I will be reading more of her work.
Kira is headed back to her grandmas house to get it ready to sell. She’s kind of awkward and doesn’t seem to have luck with guys. Her first day back in town and she meets Nate in the most unexpected way.
Nate is a caring person who doesn’t want to be known for his last name. He couldn’t be more different from his brothers and dad.
I loved the chemistry between Kira and Nate. They have such a sweet relationship. If your looking for a sweet, feel good romance look no further.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from NetGalley.
I loved this book from the first chapter!!
I loved the character of Kira. I could relate to her so much. She is a little shy, a little risk adverse nerdy girl who just wants to belong. Her parents are very cold to her and the only living relative that truly loved her has passed. I liked how she wanted to stay true to her grandma and honor her wishes.
Nate was a great book boyfriend. He was hot, humble and kind. The way he handled the cow that was in love with him was sweet!! I liked that he just “got” Kira, quirks and all. He has a great relationship with the men of the house and also the town.
I also really liked the town and the characters in the town. If there was a place like this, I would happily pack my bags and move there. They are all nosy and in everyone business but they do truly care!
This quirky small town romance had me laughing, smiling, and feeling all-around good! There were some emotional moments, but for the most part, this rom-com bounced along as our leads fell in love, and the town swept them up. You know those “just for now” romances, because we have to go somewhere else to live our lives, this is that. But the now they are in, that is a town that they fall in love with as much as they fall for each other. The tipping point had me openly sobbing along with our heroine, but the town, and our hero, come to the rescue to bring out the smiles again. I loved the characters, I loved the romance, the steaminess, and I loved the town and the residents, I simply loved it all!
Hooked on You by Cathryn Fox a five-star read that will hook you, line and sinker. This is my first read by this author but I am sure it wont be the last, I will admit that It wasn’t all five-stars, a couple of bits just didn’t make it that great, but honestly the overall was so worth it. This is a great small-town romance, but it does have some great twists, like neither of the main characters are small town people, but that just makes it more real and the ending much sweeter. The secondary characters in this one just makes the whole story, and I include the animals in those secondary characters as they play a massive part in showing us different softer sides to a certain someone. This was a lovely sweet and romantic story and one that you would be sunk if you miss.
**I received a copy of Hooked on You from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a honest review. My opinion wasn’t solicited in any way.**
Hooked on You by Cathryn Fox is a funny and refreshing book set in a fishing town in Nova Scotia and will have you hook, line, sinker, and lovesick blind cow who loves Nate. Sorry I couldn’t resist on the fishing pun. Truly you’ll love the family feeling that Sam, Nate, Jason, Cody and Izzy give Kira who has always wanted a family.
Kira has come to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia to sell her Gram’s B & B and is saved by Nate from being run over by Eddy the escapee horse. When she meets the boarders at her Gram’s home (Loved the Pickle Jars honor system) she’ll find that even though Gram is gone she still has ways of helping Kira and almost everyone either has a recipe or fond memories of the lessons she gave in painting. When the entire town pulls together to save the house Kira will discover how much Gram meant to everyone. But will she stay or return to Victoria when she finds out who the Nate really is?
Nate believes in being hands on working the lobster boats and in the factory. But his father has made it clear he needs to prove to him and older brothers by building a new seafood processing factory but run problem that will put a kink into building. Little does he know that when he saves Kira that he’d lose more than his heart when she finds out who wants to buy Gram’s studio. It will take all of her honorary brothers and sister to make him realize that she needs to stay forever.
A romantic comedy with lots of heart! HOOKED ON YOU by Cathryn Fox delights with it’s cast of unlikely characters who form a family as they live in a bed and breakfast that no one is running anymore. Laughter, tears and happily ever afters are sure to please!
Kira Palmer is an interesting character. She arrives in Nova Scotia to settle her late grandmother’s estate and discovers the bed and breakfast that she assumed was closed has actually been running on it’s own with the help of the ragtag family of fishermen her Gram collected through the years.
Nate Montgomery is one of those characters that just makes you smile. He’s genuine and kind and his collection of friends is a lot of fun … especially the blind cow that has a major crush on him!
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a small town vibe with lots of feels. The characters are endearing and the story line is sweet.
This was my first book of this author. Really good book, good plot, nice characters, nice second characters. The idea was pretty original for this kind of book, I liked the second characters a lot. I also liked that even though both main characters had a lot of issues they were able to solve them nicely. I also liked the funny scenes and other interactions between the characters. I recommend this book
4.5 Stars for Hooked On You
Cathryn Fox is a new author to me but that’s about to change because I fell hook, line and sinker for the fisherman and the other residents of a small town in Nova Scotia.
Kira hasn’t been back to town for a while but she is back to sort out her late grandmothers affairs and that means selling the B&B the place she has so many happy childhood memories from. What she doesn’t expect is the B&B to still have customers staying and certainly not fisherman who seem to be paying on an honour system. Kira the bookworm finds herself out of her comfort zone and needing help and that’s where Nate a lobster fisherman comes in…..
What follows is a meeting with a runaway horse, a blind cow who is guided around town by a calf and a very entertaining quirky story. The characters are adorable and the banter is witty and I really hope this author gives us more from the secondary characters in the fun read. This book has the perfect mix of humour, love and romance and I enjoyed every minute of it so I highly recommend this gem.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley
An ok read. Kira and Nate were an ok couple for me. They just didn’t seem to click for me at first. It took a while for them to grow on me. It just wasn’t for me but it could be for many others. Loved the small town feel but I am a small town girl so it was nice to read about a place that wasn’t busy.
I read an early review copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
3.5 Stars!
Hooked On You by Cathryn Fox, opens with an exciting horse chase which brings two unlikely people together. The book takes place in a small town of Nova Scotia, which is replete with wonderfully warm residents, lots of lobster, and a B&B that the commercial fisherman call home.
Kira is a mathematician and both her parents are academics. Her personal life is practically non-existent, because many potential friends and boyfriends get bored with her mathematical theorems. When her grandmother passes away, she drives across the country to reflect on the past and to sell her beloved grandmother’s B&B. To Kira’s surprise, the inn is still functioning. Its upkeep is being paid for by the commercial lobster fisherman that live there during the season. Overtime, they become like family. Nate is the boss, and he and Kira hit it off almost immediately. Nate is not only a fisherman, he is also the CEO of Hooked, a company that he is trying to spread good will about, since his father and brothers have always treated their employees so poorly in the past. However, until he gets all his lobsters in a row, he keeps his plans to himself. Nate and Kira fall in love, but they have to overcome some lack of communication in order to do so.
I liked this story and the camaraderie between the fisherman that live at the B&B. Their love for Kira’s late grandmother is beyond meaningful. Kira and Nate are a sexy couple and their desire for each other is hot. Overall, this is a nice romance with a bit of wackiness and many wonderful characters.

Me: “It’s not you, it’s me.”
This book: *flips me the finger and walks away*
I usually love Ms. Fox’s stories, besides the scorching hot level of her character’s chemistry in the sexy department I’m generally sucked in with their interactions, witty banter and compelling natures. Sadly, this was not the case for me with Hooked on You.
I started off on the wrong foot when our h, Kira is depicted as a “distracted mathematician”. Que in what seems to be an inability to focus and very long inner musings in between actual dialogue, which drives me completely insane.
I have to be honest here and admit to skimming a great deal through the whole book. I started it and I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn’t grabbing me, to the point where I read a couple of other books in between. Still, I was determined to see this one through, if only for the fact that I’ve read a lot of this author’s books and I’ve loved several of them. Once I realized the only way I’d be able to do that was to tackle it as I do some of the Korean dramas now on Netflix (view spoiler) and I started going from dialogue line to dialogue line, and almost altogether skipping their inner monologues, I finally managed it.
I did actually like both Kira and Nate and they did have great chemistry together. She was kind of lost emotionally, and he had some serious family issues to work through so this was a healing-together kind of romance. Unfortunately, I saw every single plot twist a hundred thousand kilometers in advance, and that, compounded with my inability to really connect to the characters given their too-long-inner-musing-itis just made it hard for me to get into the story and totally enjoy the experience.
Hooked on You is by no means a bad book, my expectations of what I’d be getting were too high and it just didn’t work for me personally. I still liked the story, it was sweet and heartwarming and I had some fun with the puny humor and easy comradery between all the town’s people. It just wasn’t the book for me.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
Small town romance is a big draw for me, mostly because they usually come with lots of quirky and fun characters. This little fishing town in Nova Scotia certainly had that, which to me was the best part of the whole story! Well, that and the self made family that Nate, and then Kira, cobbled together for themselves.
I didn’t feel much chemistry between our leads, unfortunately. Too many missed chances to clear up misunderstandings annoyed more than charmed me. And the lack of confidence and backbone from the brilliant nerdy girl made me sad and frustrated.
I admit that I had to walk away from this book a few times, as it wasn’t holding my attention. But once I got to maybe the 40-50% mark, I gobble up the rest of the story. It was a slow journey, but a satisfying read and conclusion. Cathryn Fox is definitely an author I’ve read before and will read again, as I like her style. Hooked On You just wasn’t the one for me.
My thanks to Netgalley for the advance copy. My review is voluntarily and honestly given.
Steamy, funny, outrageous (in a good way) cast of characters. Great story!
This was such an amusing story of an almost-innocent woman and the not-so-innocent man finding compatibility. Kira Palmer, 27yo absent-minded academic, mathematician has come to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia all the way from Victoria, British Columbia in order to settle her Gram’s estate. She’s not prepared for the weather, the quirkiness of the people and her guilt in not seeing her Gram for so long. She’s not prepared for most especially the HOT Fisherman who saves her from an angry runaway horse on her first day! This was one wonderful meet-cute. Her internal dialogue is hilarious.
Nate Montgomery-Lancaster (he’s dropped the Lancaster part) saves this adorable young woman from Eddie the horse whose antics keep his owner on his toes, if not all out running. He appears to be a fisherman b/c he likes to get his hands dirty by working along side people who work for him. In actuality he is the CEO of Hooked, a multi-million-dollar seafood company. He is attracted to Kira as much as she is to him, but there are complications. Oh. My. Word. When they meet again later where she is planning on staying, well, this is just one of those remarkable moments written by Ms. Fox and there are many! Will secrets injure this relationship? Will this no-strings “thing” they have remain that way? Loved getting these questions answered!
There is camaraderie, humor, some angst, lots of steam and miscommunication. There were times that I literally laughed out loud, something I don’t do often. The township is another “character” of many in this book with whom you will fall in love. I volunteered to review an ARC through Entangled/NetGalley and I heartily recommend this book.
This is the first book by this author for me. I did like that Sam and Jason. Sam was super fun and made me want to get to know him more. I can honestly say I don’t think I have ever read a book based in Canada and it made me want to go to this small town and get to see it. This book is told in the first person, the author does list who is talking so that does help. Over all I was not a huge fan of this book I found the book completely predictable and it just really was not for me. This book also has a ton of strong language and sex throughout, so it may not suitable for all. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
I like small towns and liked an enjoyed this town and I think that i liked that in the book the best. We meet Kira a mathematician which she will repeatedly, repeatedly mentions this and you get to the point of I got it now can we move along, on a crazy day that she is not watching where she is going a crazy horse comes running down the street And Nate who according to Kira was just the hottest fisherman and she was flabbergasted that he seemed to be flirting with her. I didn’t see the chemistry or feel it, because she was nerdy, and a mathematician, and a 27 year old virgin to boot, none of that would have bothered me if I didn’t hear it repeatedly and she got over it. They give in and then the secrets come out and Nate is not a fisherman, than what is he.
rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.

Oh how I love this author! Hooked is a funny, well written, hot and sexy, emotional at times, and full of great characters wrapped up in a nice neat little package. I loved the chemistry between all of these characters, it just worked and flowed so nicely page after page. Nate and Kira were just that kind of couple you liked right off the bat. Bridgette and Eddie were hysterical, throw Sam into the mix and you find yourself laughing throughout the book. It tugs at your heartstrings when you don’t have closure with a death like Grams, but because of the way the story was written, tears are mixed with laughter, the best combination when it comes to stories like this. The small town atmosphere worked well, loved the townspeople and how everyone pulls together in this special place. Great story, well worth the read!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
My Review …….
“ You know in an action movie, when the hero just saved the day and everything goes into slow-mo as he walks toward the heroine, to emphasise the guy’s sexiness? Cue the big finale kiss, right? When they ride off into the sunset, have you ever sighed happily and thought, one day, that’s going to happen to me? Yeah, me neither.”
Have to admit not my usual read. But I really enjoyed the book.
Had a few laughs, a blind pet cow had me chuckling. And Eddie the horse, I loved that creature and if there are more stories I hope he features.
Kira is not cut out for small town living, so she needs to sell the B&B that she’s inherited and get back to her own home. She loves her job, and can’t wait to get back, but being rescued by a hot fisherman is the highlight of her quiet life. And is he flirting with her?
Nate is the hot fisherman that saves Kira from being mowed down by a runaway horse. He catches lobsters and is happy to trade them for other items. He’s fascinated with the woman he’s just rescued, a little strange, but in a fun way. But he’s not interested in starting something, he wants to finish his deal and move on. It’s not common knowledge yet, and he’s not sure of the reception the new packing company will receive, so he has to tread carefully.
Nate and Kira both tell this story, and it’s good to get both sides. Kira feels guilty that she hasn’t been back for a while, but it won’t stop her from selling the B&B. Nate can’t understand why she would want to sell. But he’s hiding something from her.
Hoping we get a few more books, there were many characters that needed a story. Really well written, the characters were really good, secondary characters were entertaining as well. And the little town was so well written I had no problem conjuring it up. Kira was great to read, a nerd who loves her job, not many social skills, but that doesn’t stop her from flirting with Nate.
And Nate is a nice guy, so if he’s so nice, why not tell the town he’s opening up a new company? He’s also looking to move on, so does he need to slow down and enjoy the scenery.
So will they get together? Or will Kira sell up and leave? Can Nate persuade her not to sell? He’d like her to stay, but will she? And what happens when she finds out his secret? Will she help or will she hinder?
This was a cute small town romance between two unlikely people. I’m a big fan of small town settings because they usually deliver so many fun side characters and some interesting charm to the town. You definitely get that with Hooked on You. There are plenty of characters to help you fall in love with this town and makes you want more books on some of these hunky men. You also get that quirky small town charm with a love sick cow and an angry horse. Overall, it’s a cute story with a lot of quirkiness, some a bit unbelievable, but I still enjoyed it for what it was.
