“You’re lost, Cole, but you can find your way home; the candle has been in the window since you left and we’ve been waiting.”
This book had me hooked from the first page on! I just love childhood friends turned into lovers. I was really glad L.A. decided NOT to show the early years in flashbacks but rather just start from the beginning and have the readers grow up with the characters throughout the chapters. Mia was just the CUTEST little girl, I loved her interaction with her dad, Mace and neighbor, Cole. It was heartbreaking to read how Cole was living with his abusive alcoholic father. Mace saved him from that situation and Cole, for the first time in his life experienced how a real family should be like.
“..he was so far superior to Prince Charming because he was real and flawed and perfect.”
Mia couldn’t stay away from Cole, they became very close and you could even say that they became best friends. There is 5 year age gap between the two, but I just loved seeing how they interacted with each other. I especially loved how Mia kind of annoyed Cole and made him watch Princess movies and play with her barbies. I also want to mention that I am in LOVE with Mace, he is such an amazing dad to Mia AND Cole. He had her when he was just 17 years old, but did such an amazing job in raising her. Their relationship was so beautiful to read.
“Came from shit, have had one bright light in the dark hell I’ve lived in, gotten too used to being in the light, Mia, I ain’t going back to the dark.”
When Mia starts to really feel something for Cole she is in her teens, and Cole doesn’t think he deserves her. He doesn’t wants to spoil her innocence. I liked that there was no unnecessary drama. Everything Cole did was because he didn’t want to drag Mia into his darkness. But what Cole should’ve understood was that he deserves to be loved! Also Mia gave Cole the space to work through his issues. So many things happen in this book but I want you to experience it yourself!
“…they represent you, my angel: my light in the dark.”
I’m thinking this is my favorite one out of the series, I fell in love with Maverick and Reese, that girl has no filter and sometimes her thoughts just fly out of her mouth and the reactions of Maverick are entertaining, “did I say that? Oh god, his face. He looks ready to lunge at me. Grab me. Hold me. Eff me. “What are we going to do about that then?” he asks.” I loved that Reese asks for what she wants, “my mouth waters as I take in his wet, golden muscles. “are you going to let me soap you up?” I hear myself ask, sex vixen that I woke up being today. “Because I have never, ever done that in my life and I just added it to my bucket list of things to do before I die.” His eyes go dark and look a little possessive as he reaches out and takes my hand…” I really loved this book and am sad that the series is over but it ended with a bang
A penny for my thoughts…
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to this book…that is the understatement of the year! I have LOVED everything about the REAL series and it has stuck with me since day one and I am constantly craving more of these characters and their stories from Katy Evans. There’s just something about the way she writes her characters that completely consumes my mind, body and soul and Maverick and Reese in LEGEND were no exception. Especially Maverick, he climbed right into my heart and took up residence next to all the other Evans’ men <3 Reese even found a spot there. She was this shy, but yet strong heroine, that was so much fun to read about and watch evolve. This is the reason I keep coming back to Katy’s books with every release she makes…her books and characters are unforgettable!
***SPOILER FREE***
LEGEND was about two characters becoming something BETTER. They were determined to find themselves and in the process of doing so, they found each other. *awe* You know that saying: “The biggest competitor in life is yourself.”? Well that is so true in this book. They both learned that their past and/or who they came from cannot control who they become. With enough resolve and will power, you can accomplish anything and become anyone you want to be. Katy depicted exactly that. The way she wrote their development throughout the story was just beautiful. Like a phoenix, anyone can rise from their ashes and become a better version of themselves.
From the adrenaline packed fight scenes to the tender, sweet moments that pulled on your heartstrings between Maverick and Reese, it was impossible to not fall in love with these characters from page one. These two characters and their story were like watching a caterpillar transform into a butterfly. Their desire for one another was obvious from first glance. Their love story was fiery, but yet slow to emerge and had be handled with care, but even without the knowledge of what is underneath, you just knew that something beautiful was going to become of it…hence ”caterpillar to butterfly”. Katy did a phenomenal job of capturing the essence of young love; that experience of finding your one and only love and the determination it takes to claim that other as your own. Her descriptions and inner dialogue of her characters thoughts and actions made it feel as if I, the reader, were going through the same actions and emotions Reese and Maverick were going through…those “all-consuming, time-slowing, heart-stopping and racing at the same time” type of emotions. A person forgets what those emotions feel like and it is beautiful to be reminded. Maverick and Reese are truly made for each other and it was heart-warming to read their journey.
Katy Evans kept everything real and authentic and she did justice to all her REAL characters. I’ll admit, it was all a little bittersweet to have this be the final REAL book *tears*, but you know what, Katy ended it in the PERFECT way and I couldn’t of asked for a better ending to a beautiful fighting legacy. Maverick may be a LEGEND, but Remy will live on through him! By far, this is my FAVORITE fighter series of all time!
Oh and I can’t forget to mention…we get to see more Remy, Brooke and Racer!!! *happy dance*It was such a joy to see how much MORE Remy has grown as a character and to be able to fall in love with him all over again. I totally had *swooning* moments all over again for him in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone that is looking for a book that makes you FEEL and connect <3

I’ve really enjoyed this series and each book carries it’s own. There will ONLY ever be one REMY but Maverick can definitely hold his own <3 Reese joins the Tate's team as Racer's nanny. She herself is ready for a change and couldn't pass up the opportunity to help her cousin. She soon meets the mysterious Maverick. I was surprised with the twist, knew it would be big and had that AH HA moment when it was revealed. While Legend is very much Reese and Mav's journey, we get heavy doses of the Tate's and if this in fact the final book of the series you will feel satisfied when it's over.
Simply incredible!!
Katy Evans has outdone herself with Legend!
I think it has to be her best work yet.
You will be immediately drawn into this story.
This beautiful love story. That will leave you with a mix of emotions.
Such as tears, joy and a passion!!
Now that’s how you end a phenomenal series. You go out with a bang! That’s exactly what Katy Evans did with Legend. Simply sublime. I’m in awe of her writing and how she plays with words. It just works and it flows fluently. When I begin reading any of her books I can’t stop. That’s how it usually is when it comes to her writing. It never fails and I love it.
Legend was such a beautiful and strong character driven story and holy hell did I love her characters. I knew Brooke and Remy from her other books in the REAL series. Love these two and now there’s Reese, Brooke’s cousin, and this new fighter Maverick. And what a pair these two are.
I love how Katy Evans took her time to introduce Reese and Maverick. Separately and then as their attraction grows. The slow build up between them made me connect with them even more. Their chemistry felt more real and intense as hell.
Reese was a great and beautiful character because she felt so authentic because of her struggles and her demeanor. I love how she at first comes across as a shy and closed of woman. But behind her walls she’s a bright, brilliant woman who loves with all her being.
Maverick blew me away. What a man. What a hero. I love how he was the strong, silent type who oozes sex from afar. When he first let’s people in, he loves fiercely just as Reese.
In many ways he’s more experienced than Reese but how he showed her patience and his love was kick ass sexy. He adored and admired everything about Reese.
These two together were perfection. I devoured their every word, touch and look.
I’m sitting here with a huge smile on my face and great satisfaction as this series has come to an end. This was a stunning and perfect closure. Katy Evans nailed it! I couldn’t have pictured it end any other way. If I could rate it 10 stars I would. Now I’m eagerly awaiting her next masterpiece.
