Learning to trust is something Reese can’t seem to get a grasp on. Every time he tries, he gets burned. When sexy Brooke walks back into his life, the firefighter puts up a wall of resistance that will keep him from making the same mistake twice. Problem is he loved her once, and she walked away. Now she’s asking for forgiveness and he’s not sure he can give it.Being a mix of dragon and human … human presents its challenges. Even more demanding is Brooke’s shifter father who she can’t seem to say no to. When an unforeseen event forces her to run away from love, and back home to daddy, she doesn’t think she will ever see Reese again. Coming back to Kirkwood means facing what she left behind and questioning what her future holds.
Old emotions threaten to resurface, but things are more complicated than before. Reese can’t forgive and Brooke’s father demands she marries someone else. Trust and loyalty rip these two apart, but sometimes it only takes a spark to create a flame from ash and change destiny forever.

I squeaked so loud that I just woke up my hubby. Boy, is he grumpy about falling off the bed, lol.
I might also have tears in my eyes because of the absolute perfect ending to this book.
I lied, babies would have made it perfect. But it was close enough.
Brooke got dealt quite the hand, and Reese had to figure her and himself out before he could be what she needed.
Every moment of their story, the stupid, the steamy, the scary and the sweet were captivating
I highly recommend this book.
Happy reading!

I generally enjoy this authors work, totally love her Eternally Mated series, this series has been sort of hit and miss for me. While I do like Brooke and Reece for me these two needed to put on their grown-up pants and tackle their issues head on.
I do get some of it, Brooke’s father pretty much tells her what to do and she does it. Reese was burned by his ex having an affair with his brother, then Brooke taking off without an explanation when it seemed that things were getting a bit serious with them.
Most of this story is them being lead around by their fears and their inability to stand up for themselves. Accept responsibility for their actions and inactions grow a spine and go after what it is you really want. Considering the possible pivotal role that Brooke may represent in shifter dragon world she comes across as pretty weak to me.
Reese finally deciding to take a risk and facing his demons was a good turning point towards him acting like the adult he is. It took Brooke a little while longer to get there but eventually they did. While I liked both of them their wishy-washy personalities didn’t make this a strong read for me.

Sweet read full of emotion and romance as two lovers find their second chance. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Could be better 3 stars – It’s been a while since I’ve given 3 stars to a book. I try not to because I like to acknowledge a writer’s work as much as I can. But this short story disappointed me, especially the characters. The plot was driven by Brooke and Reese’s inability to be decisive. I can’t find it in myself to empathize with Brooke, she doesn’t have a backbone. Reese’s excuses are flimsy. I liked Rescue Me and Finding Hope in the series but this book I don’t. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
I thought it was a bit slow to start, then once I got into it, it got better and I enjoyed the story of Brooke and Reese. The author seemed to rush it all at the end of the book and what she wrote just seemed as if she had run out of words and was just making anything up. Was disappointed as it could have been good. Sorry for being negative.
Reese had been married and was having trust issues and he had a slight relationship with Brooke. She left without telling him what the reason was so that didn’t help. Brooke became a special silver dragon and her dragon wanted Reese. But Reese was a human so he thought that he couldn’t have her. He was kidnapped by her arranged mate but he was found and they got married after he told her that he loved her. Her dragon wouldn’t have anyone else. Reese took care f his problems with his ex and others. But a happy ending and a great book!
Reese is still dealing with the aftermath of his divorce, and Brooke leaving him. She comes back, and sparks fly between them. Good book, well written!
