The King will fall. While I continue my hunt for the Fae who killed my brother, I have to try to keep my heart away from the vicious boys who could be responsible for his death. But as my investigation leads me down a dangerous road and answers seem closer than ever before, I’m whisked away to the elite school, Zodiac Academy, with the four Kings and my heart becomes more vulnerable than ever.
That ending was kind of heartbreaking. Elise is getting answers, but more drama awaits for them all. This series has kept me up late finishing each book – I’m glad the full series is out, but this series is addictive 🙂
This was great and I was engrossed throughout we really picked up the pace with Elise’s kings in this instalment beginning the journey of coming together as a unit in their quest to make their girl happy some more so than others. Leading the charge is Leo with a bundle of acceptance and playfulness he’s just so easy to like. But it isn’t all plain sailing and when secrets are revealed it nearly breaks someone who I really didn’t expect it to whilst elsewhere enemies reluctantly unite all for the love of their girl.
There was action danger and so much humour and passion to be had but then also such heartbreak and the near loss of someone very dear. The finale was explosive and then that finish just floored me it was so good everything imploded leaving some very shattered hearts behind. I’m definitely on board for the next book and I can’t wait to see what happens next this series is so addictive and I’m definitely enjoying myself a whole lot.

I borrowed this book via the Kindle Unlimited program and am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
I must admit that I binged the first three in this series before writing any reviews.
The best part of this series is the deliciously damaged broken boys – the four Kings of the school Sherilynn (Kenyon) McQueen couldn’t do better, and that’s saying a great deal.
Elise hacks her way into Zodiac Academy after the mysterious death of her brother, Gareth. She goes undercover to find the murderer. Her main suspects? The four Kings of the school, Gabriel the Harpy, Leon the lion shifter, Ryder the baskilisk and Dante the dragon shifter. Each of the boys is a criminal in his own special way and each is deeply damaged. As she begins to dig into the school, she finds even more suspects and more trouble than any young vampire should get herself into, ever!
A sexy, dark and slightly disturbing academy romance that, as the final page, is not a reverse harem, Dark Fae drives the reader deep into the Elise’s back story.
The writing never lets the reader catch their breaths as we move from exciting and terrifying action piece to scaldingly hot sex scene. Even the classroom scenes are tense.
All the main characters, including Gareth, take their turns as the narrators. This gives the reader a deeper sense of their trauma. Their voices are unique, allowing us to know who is speaking when.
Ms. Peckham and Ms. Valenti create an amazing world, where the Fae live. The Fae, in this series, are not the Sidhe that populate much of the urban fantasy market. Instead, they are shifters of many kinds who are also gifted the magics of their zodiac sign as well as other gifts.
The writing itself shifts between poetic to deeply brutal, both of which are stunningly beautiful. At times, some of the writing justifies reading this series on it’s own.
Of course, it isn’t only the beauty and the brutality of the writing that is fantastic. The sex scenes begin at scalding in the first book to so hot they leave the reader panting.
Various suspects are thrown in, to keep the mysteries of who murder Gareth among of others. As this review (which will appear on each of the first three books) is of the first three books, I can’t tell you all of the mysteries without leaving spoilers!
5 stars out of 5 for each book.
This one was my favorite so far. This story was so steamy and entertaining. From Ryder’s new tattoo, to the broken deal, to Elise almost dying at the hands of a poison arrow. The Zodiac trip was so intense, as well as the well tunnels scene, but wow! This ending! Talk about the most confusing, twisted bombshell! How is that possible?!
Someone, please throw me a rope because that cliffhanger just about killed me – but in a good way ! Caroline and Susanne are the Queens of the cliffies, and this book is no exception! The whole last hour reading, I was at the edge of my seat dying to find out what happens!
This is one of my fave series ever! I’m in my re-read of the entire series in the lead up to the last book (which just came out). I loved the series the first go-round, but the second is even better since you know more stuff! The sisters are pros at seeding in little clues and hints that take a while to grow!
The hunt is on to find out who the Card Master is and what’s happened to Gareth! This books answers some questions but then opens up loads of new ones. We get some amazing Zodiac cross over action – which is fantastic… God I love me some Orion…
The feud between Dante and Ryder is at an all-time high, with both of them hating the deal they made to keep the other from Elise. The group dynamics between Elise and the boys does start to shift in this book, with some of the guys branching out and getting to know the others. I love Leon & Ryder bro-ing out Lion King forever!
There’s been so much development in Elise over these three books, and she still has far to go, but I love to see her healing with the help of all four guys. I love this harem sooo much and just want them to be happy! We still have two books to go, and God knows what the sisters will put us through, but I’d not have it any other way! These are a must-read!
Another amazing read. This one hurt at the end but with 2 more books in the series I have hope they get their happy ending.
Elise is still on the hunt for her brothers killer will she figure it out I sure hope so
I am usually not one for RH books but I love the characters in this series! I found the world of Solaria with the Zodiac Academy series but had to read these book since there are interconnected tidbits between the two. I have yet to find a book by these two authors that I haven’t absolutely loved!
In book 3 more of the pieces of the past start to come together, as well as an event that will have a huge impact on the future. This book is an incredibly epic part of the series. There is a lot of darkness in it, but also some of the funniest moments. I will forever be thankful for the chapter where Leon meets my favorite Vampire .
You also get some more information on Ryders background. Gabriel also redeems himself some… for a bit at least.
I also love some of the “friendships” that start forming between the other kings, Ryder and Leon have an especially entertaining interaction.
I absolutely love this book and with the final book in the series coming out on April 30th, this is the perfect time to start. This is a bully/enemies to lovers slow-ish burn revers harem. I love that you get chapters from everyone’s POV.
I pretty much say it every time, but this series gets better and better with each book. The way the characters continue to grow with each book is amazing. There is so much detail in all of their books.
Each of the guys have something that Elise needs. She is very adamant about not choosing one, but hey, who would want to choose between the four of them?
As always, again, the last 25% of the book had me hanging on to the edge of my seat. I was not expecting what happened in the last two chapters at all.
I am excited to see what happens next in Broken Fae.
The Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac series is my favorite paranormal reverse harem series EVER!
Caroline and Susanne created such an intriguing story set in a dangerous magical world full of gangs, a myriad of supernatural beings, and murder. The characters in this series, the friendships, and the romances are some of my favorites of all time. The character development over the course of these novels individually and within the group is phenomenal, and I have never been gifted with a more fantastic group of book boyfriends!
If you’re a paranormal RH fan, you simply cannot miss this series. It would be utterly tragic!
Another Exciting Read!

Vicious Fae: Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac #3
Although this was exciting, hot & at times really quite gripping, I just don’t feel like the storyline is really moving forward from book to book!! Elise & her relationships with the Kings, her hopelessness & despair have all changed, either grown or deminished, but she’s not really any closer to finding the answers she set out to find!! It’s getting a bit annoying if I’m honest.
There are some really touching moments, some painful ones too but also down right heart break is on the cards for some, it’s awful!! It was amusing seeing the 4 Heirs as youngsters during their time at at Zodiac Academy. Orion had everyone lusting after him back then too, if not more so!! Lionel was just as awful!!
I’m hoping the next book really moves this storyline along. Felix & Mariella have to go at the very, very least!! Can there be more than one?? And who is the creeptastic King?

Vicious Fae is amazing, another book from these two that will suck you in, grab your soul and not let you go. I love each and everything about the characters in this series. In this latest installment you get to learn more about each of the Kings, see a different side of my boy Lance and find out a little bit more about Elise’s brother. The mystery surrounding his death has not been solved yet, but they hopefully getting closer.
I absolutely enjoyed this book, even as it ripped my heart out my chest. I need the next one now.
This series is everything. So much amazing happened in this book, I can’t even begin to process it all. I just love Elise so much. And I didn’t think it was possible to love Ryder, Leon, Dante and Gabriel any more, but here we are. And baby Orion?!? Book high for the win. A lot was uncovered in Vicious Fae, but there are still some major mysteries to unravel. Some pretty satisfying things happened at the end of this, but also something that’s both amazing and could possibly undo everything. I have my hopes and theories for where the story could go in the next book, and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. These first three books have been such a crazy fun ride.
