I used his body to forget the pain until the line we drew was buried under muddied water.
I used to believe in three things:
That true love only existed once, heartbreak couldn’t kill you, and everything happened for a reason.
But if that were true, I never would have watched Daniel McCray get married to another woman, have a beautiful baby girl, and pass away before my very … eyes.
Everything I believed was a lie.
Until I met them.

Piper Montgomery never expected her life to be flipped upside down. As a student, she went from worrying about assignments to worry about how she was going to make through life with an unexpected added responsibility. And it all acerbated by the presence of two individuals that not only brought comfort, but also complications she could use without.
On a certain aspect, I did not envy Piper’s life. She was burdened by a difficult situation and took it gracefully. But some things that made me want to shake her. Among the other two main characters, I immediately fell in love with one. His past and personality were very alluring to me. The other one was rational and understanding.
I chose to read this one because of the potential angst and feels. I’m glad to confirm the story delivered what I needed. While I thought the ending was too easy, there we plenty of aspects in the story that wrung out my emotions the way I like it.
Into the Clear Water is a story of letting go of the past. It would appeal to readers who enjoy an emotional romance.
This story is packed full of angsty, heartrending romance at its best. B. Celeste drags you into the story where I was totally ready to be charmed and to swoon over the charismatic addictive characters which are written from the heart. Totally told in Pipers POV, this story had me biting my fingernails in anticipation of who will win Piper’s heart.
Piper is such a fascinating character to get to know/ Although she has known a great tragedy in her life she is one strong determined woman who holds a lot of guilt and is still grieving for a boy she has loved forever.
When two men enter her life she finds herself with choices to make which at times are heartrending to read. This is a love triangle story where the two men in question are total opposites. Easton her roommate, the broody, moody tattooed man who finds it hard to express his feelings; you can literally taste the pain that radiates from this man. Then there is Professor Carter Ford who is a blast from Piper’s past and so much easier to relate to.
All the characters are flawed in some way and have a story to tell from their past; this is what makes them so interesting to read about. I certainly knew which man had me hooked in this wonderful story.
Going into a B. Celeste book is inwardly preparing yourself for the barrage of emotions this author always brings to the stories she writes. This story slowly broke my heart into tiny pieces only to put them all back together with the most poignant epilogue that bought tears to my eyes. Phenomenal storytelling from this talented author and another must-read.
Into The Clear Water is such an emotional story. One moment you are sad the next happy. It was a perfect happy ending though. I would recommend this book to everyone.
If you have been following B. Celeste since the very beginning of her writing journey, then you have experienced firsthand how far she has grown as a writer with each new release. Just when you think you have her writing style all figured out, she does a complete 180 and surprises you with each new twist and turn that she throws your way. Her passion bleeds through the pages and you feel it all through your bones. Oh, and let’s not forget those awesome Easter eggs she’s been slipping our way in her past releases. Getting an inside look at future characters helps you to develop a deeper connection with them early on!
Into the Clear Water by B. Celeste was a beautifully breathtaking and emotionally heartwrenching love story that will have you clutching your chest as you inhale all of the words of this angsty love triangle of sorts. There was a raging fire ignited deep in my soul and it hasn’t let up since finishing. Piper Montgomery’s heart is in a battle as she must decide who she is destined to be with and my goodness did I feel like I was right there beside her trying to make the right decision myself. Let me just say I was NOT disappointed with her choice one bit and I hope you all are with me on that!
Piper’s journey is emotionally gripping and you will be there every step of the way as she must make one of the most important decisions of her life and follow her heart. The chemistry between Piper and Easton AND Piper and Carter is addictively captivating and I just couldn’t put this story down because I needed to know who she ended up with. There was the perfect combination of forbidden romance from that love triangle to that student/professor relationship to that unrequited love. There is just so much to love!

“I used his body to forget the pain until the line we drew was buried under muddied water. But I don’t want to forget. I want to remember— Danny, our past, all the memories even if they’re bad.”
“No longer afraid of what lingers in the murkiness, I step into the clear water and let all the pain wash away.”
I fell head over heals in love with this book
The more I read from B Celeste, the more I love her writing. She poured so much emotion into this story and you can feel every bit of it.
This book had so many painful aspects to it starting with Piper having to deal with so much at her young age. She has some deep scars that are not physical but mentally and she closes off to others. She doesn’t have many friends, and honestly she only considers Jenna her best friend her only friend aside from Ainsley and her roommate, Easton. Both Easton and Piper have a friends with benefits arrangement going on, they both seek each other out to drown out their pain and only being physical is what makes it go away.
Easton is just as damaged as Piper but he doesn’t share any aspects of his life with anyone. He eventually starts opening up to Piper little by little once he notices that she starts withdrawing from their arrangement, or more like she’s distancing herself due to her running into an old friend she had a major crush on when she was a pre-teen.
To say the least is that Piper has definitely put herself last and has dedicated her time and energy on Ainsley who really needs her. But now it’s time to not just think about Ainsley, but she has to think about herself and the struggles and efforts she has to go through to get through schooling and starting her life with a good job that will provide for her and Ainsley.
But not only does she has to think about Ainsley anymore, she also has to decide who is the better man for her. Would it be Carter or Easton??
This was a tough one for me because both men really had profound feelings for Piper and they both treated her the way she wanted, except one showed her with words and affection while the other showed her with expressing them only at night time when they had their nightly cap. But only Piper really knows how she really feels for these men and who truly holds her heart. No matter what, one always ends up losing and one wins.
I though that Piper was a pretty strong heroine and I give her props for all that she had to deal with in life and taking care of a child with needs who’m she adored with all her life. She just had trouble trying to open up to people and letting anyone in her heart because she was badly hurt once before and I think this is why it was so hard for her to decide who she had stronger feelings for. But in the end she chose well. Both men were wonderful guys so it was a tough call.
B. Celeste always knows how to break your heart no matter what. But in the end she stitched my heart perfectly well this time around.
All of B. Celeste’s books are emotional with well thought out characters and plot lines and contain angst to the nth degree. Into the Clear Water had a little bit of everything – love triangle, student/professor, unrequited love…and a few others, yet nothing so drastic that it took away from the developing love story.
I loved both Easton the broody, silent tattooed hottie; and Carter the brother’s friend, put together, professor. But in my heart I knew from the get-go which one I wanted Piper with 🙂
And how about that Epilogue?!?! PERFECT!!! Hoping we get more PLEASE!!!
Everytime I pick up a B Celeste book I know I’m in for an emotional rise. I know I should be prepared but I never am. Her storytelling only gets better with each book she releases.
One of the things I love about this author is her characterisation is always done brilliantly. Piper is just amazing, she is strong determined and selfless a real fighter. Carter and Easton the two men in her life, both so different but both have so much to offer her. Like me you will have opinions on who you want her to choose however the path to a future is never certain and the author loves to keep her readers guessing right until the end. It is not just that I cry but I felt the loneliness, the indecision the pain and despair. I also felt complete and utter joy at the pure unflinching love in this story.
Piper’s life is murky. Between going to school, taking care of her daughter, living with heartbreak and just trying to get through one day at a time. Easton is quiet and broody but his pain draws to Piper’s pain and they escape in each other. When a face from Piper’s past wants to be her present, the clarity Piper is looking for becomes apparent. This is a story of loss, unconditional love and some hard truths. It felt to me like it is written in a series of vignettes of time, that give us readers glimpses into the truths of the characters. Very satisfying story.
“Nothing is easy about being with the person you’re meant for. We’re only human. Demented or not.”~ Piper
Beautiful book! It was heart-warming and heart-wrenching all at the same time! It gave me so many feels!
“You deserve to know what happiness feels like.”
Into the Clear Water is heartbreakingly painful, soul crushing beautiful. B. Celeste has delivered another book that has left me ugly crying and needing a glass of wine. Piper’s story is raw, gritty, and emotional. It’s her struggle and journey to find herself and herself worth.
B. Celeste has a way with words that just seems to make me feel more. I felt Piper’s pain right down in my soul. I wanted to hug her and tell her everything will be okay while also wanting to slap her across the face and tell her to open her eyes. Piper watched the man she thought she loved meet, marry, have a child with another woman, and then die. Then she carried the guilt and pain of the last words that were spoken between them everyday from that night now. My mom always told me don’t say something to someone you’ll regret, those could be the last words you ever speak to then. And although Piper wasn’t the one who said the words that changed her life forever, she’s the one who had to carry the weight of those words with her forever.
Piper’s belief that she didn’t deserve happiness and couldn’t love is what made her journey so painful. Everything she wanted and deserved was right in front of her she just couldn’t admit she deserved it.
Piper is a born mother. Ainsley may not be her blood but Piper would die for that little girl. Watching her defend Piper just made me cry happy and sad tears. Happy tears because they both had someone to love them unconditionally, and in sadness because that little girl didn’t deserve any of that. Ainsley could not have asked for a better godmother, guardian, second mother. Piper struggled and suffered and did it all for that little girl without a second thought.
In the end I think Piper’s story ended just like it should have. She found her peace with her past , a present she loved, and a future to look forward to. She found the love and happiness she didn’t think she was capable of feeling or deserved. Her journey was messy, and broken, but it was her’s.
And it has to be sad again, Milo is going to be something amazing. I cannot wait for his and Ainsley’s story.
Into the Clear Water is another heartbreaking 5 star read from B. Celeste.
***4,5 “You. Are. It.” stars***
“Life is full of chances, Piper. You never know what will happen.”
This story was so beautiful, even though heartbreaking…
It was antsy as hell and even though it had a calm pace, it had me on the edge of my seat for most of the time…
Yep, in here there was a love triangle and i literally hate these kind of things, but the author managed to deliver it really smoothly for most of the part…
But still, from the very beginning i had picked side and that had me sitting on pins and needles through out the whole book…
My heart was aching for Easton, Piper, Ainsley and Carter.
“I’m conflicted.
About life.
About love.
About them.”
Well, Piper is a fighter….
Before three years, she felt the loss of the person that she loved mostly in her life and with that loss, they came responsibilities to her that she couldn’t ever imagine in the form of a little girl…
And even though, things weren’t great for a while, she still managed and i loved her determination to get through life as a college student-single mom…
The only problem with Piper is that her heart and mind is emotionally stuck on the past!!!!
Add to that two gorgeous and wonderful men so opposite between them… and you will have… chaos!!!
“I’m drowning. Drowning in my indecision and pain, wondering if I’ll survive if I submerge myself under the murky waters of my consious. I want freedom from the pain that shoots through me like a drug in my bloodstream. I need clarity.
Just once.”
Easton is her gorgeous tattooed roommate… A quiet and broody man who is keeping his distances even though he and Piper are sharing some intimate moments together from time to time… They’re just having a clean and cut out arrangement after all…
But lately, Easton is starting to change… He is being more there for Piper and Ainsley….
But Piper is feeling awkward with this change of heart… And i can add that she is almost blind!!!
“Easton and I are a lot alike.
In pain.
Needing comfort.
Wanting to escape the reasons why.”
Carter from the other hand is a man from Piper’s past…
A man with whom she has a big age gap and nowadays is her professor…
At the beginning, Piper is trying to keep her distances from him, cause she is still having a beef toward him from something that happened in the past, but as the time is passing by they are easily becoming friends for once again…
And maybe something more than that???
“Hope that this is enough.
Hope that this turns into what I want.
Not an escape. Love.”
Well, this kind of things are very difficult for me to witness, but in a strange way, I believe that the author approached this gentle matter with a respectful way…
But still, my heart broke over and over again… My heart was given to Easton from the first moment, and i wanted him to be the one…
I loved how he was speaking without using words and i hated that Piper was too stuck on the past to realize what he was saying to her…
I also loved how he was with Ainsley, his dudette….
Don’t get me wrong, Carter was also a wonderful guy, but what can i say??? I’m a sucker for tattoos!!! LOL!!!
“I used his body to forget the pain until the line we drew was buried under muddied water. But I don’t want to forget. I want to remember… In the depths of my mind, Carter would get me that. But it would take something else from me.
Something that Easton already has.”
I believe that this story was a difficult journey for Piper to let the past go and both these man helped very much in that…
Piper needed a fresh start and someone to unconditional love her in romantic way…
I just wish that she would have avoid some certain things, but hell… I can live with that!!!!
This story was so wrong, but it ended to be right.
“With him, I rise from the depts I’ve been drowning in for all these years and feel like I can breathe again. No longer afraid of what lingers in the murkiness, I step into the clear water and let the pain wash away.”
***I received an Arc for the exchange of an honest review. Thank you.***
Brilliant.
WOW This book is extraordinary.
It held my emotions captive, they were all over the place I felt so conflicted. It gave me Joy,frustration, happiness and tears and I completely Loved it.
Honestly I don’t really read too many Love triangle books, because they drive me crazy and yes this story did drive me crazy at times but it was so so good that I just couldn’t stop reading.I suppose because I knew from the start who I wanted Piper to decide to be with…poor girl having two men Easton her housemate and Carter her professor they are quite the opposite of one another vying for her love…Piper was torn..She is a single Mum by tragic circumstances to a sweet little girl Ainsley, this story is Piper’s journey towards forgiving herself and allowing herself to love and shedding the guilt she harbours towards her best friends death.
B Celeste writes such a beautiful tale her writing is impeccable, and I fell in love with the characters who were real and raw and believable, I was drawn to them and enthralled by them and this book just had me hooked. I thoroughly enjoyed travelling down this Rocky road with Piper and learning through her What a struggle she had to endure raising a child and going to school.Discovering who Broody Easton was (I Loved him ) …and equally sweet Carter and I am so glad that that I took a risk and read this book Love triangle included.
This was my first B.Celeste book and what a fantastic introduction to her work it was I can’t wait to read future stories and delve into her past books before this one.
This is a Superb read and I HIGHLY recommend it.
Into the Clear Water by B. Celeste tells the story of Piper who has become the guardian/mother to her best friend’s daughter, Ainsley after he was killed in a car accident. Ainsley is 5 years old and selectively mute since her father’s death.
Easton, the man she rents a room to moved into Piper’s home to help with the rent, but a few months ago they started sleeping together. Piper is trying to manage caring for Ainsley, acquiring her masters and dealing with the death of her best friend. Not surprising, at times everything is quite overwhelming for her.
When she starts her last semester at school, one of her professors is Carter Ford, her first crush and childhood friend of her brother. Does she begin a relationship with Carter and where does Easton fit in the picture?
There are authors who write characters that you connect with from the first page. B. Celeste is one of those authors. Her beautiful words come to life when she describes a scene and I always want more when the story ends.
The epilogue hints at Ainsley and Milo’s story and I hope it comes soon. This is a wonderful story, which shows that “love is more than a spoken word”. A story not to be missed!
Let me just say that B. Celeste has an amazing writing style! Not only do you connect with the characters but you connect with them emotionally. I dont even know where to begin to tell you why I gave this story 5 stars. I’m speechless with how extraordinary it is! No one could write this story except her! A beautiful story of a girl who doesnt think she can love because she lost her best friend. She finds love where she least expected it.
I recieved an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
B. Celeste gutted me with this book. She broke me into pieces until she put me back together.
From the beginning until the end she had me in a tug of war of emotions. So pure, so raw, so unpredictable, so angsty, so intense, so magnificent.
It felt like the book itself was talking to me personally, I felt every word in my veins and soul, and I cried, not just one but several times I cried, to the point that I had to take breathers.
In this incredible book B. Celeste introduce us to Piper, the heroine in this story, which is now my number one heroine in all books. Her strength, her survival, her love, her motivation, her struggles, her coping mechanism, her forgiveness, her grief, etc had me rooting for her from page one, even when my heart was aching for her and for the little person she was so eager to fight for.
Her conflicted love life made things more complicated. The pull from different directions made her pain more perceptible, and a moment of weakness gave her the clarity she needed.
This fascinating and captivating story was beautifully written, and it is a 5 star without a doubt.
I highly recommend it!!
