This is the second book in the series and as good as the first. Not gonna lie I read this in one day. I just gobbled it right up. Now from someone who likes dual points of view I never noticed and it didn’t bother me. Cynthia just creates such magic with her writing. It just makes you want to keep reading and then you’re bummed the book is over when you finish. This book takes some twists and turns that left me gasping. The end of this book has left me wanting the next book right now. Things are heating up in Hanna’s world as she learns more about herself. This is a must read series! I love the humor in this one. I’m laughing throughout the book, but it also gives you the feels and suspenseful elements.
I didn’t think it was possible, but Love Sucks turned out to be even better than Love Bites and that book was awesome! Besides having the requisite hotness at so many levels and so many men, the mystery, intrigue, and humor kept me swiping the pages on my Kindle to read just one more chapter, then I was at the end, and now I’m anxiously awaiting the NEXT book…you might even learn a little bit about art.
No spoilers in my review but here’s what you need to know: The characters are super likable albeit exasperating at times, you probably should read the first book first to get the backstory on how we got here in this story, Hanna and Abernathy make a great couple and the paranormal just adds to the fun of this book! Craziness and surprises take the reader to unexpected places and you just can’t help but love this installment! Cynthia St. Aubin does not disappoint in ANY of her books and this one is no exception! Although I received an advanced reader copy, I loved it so much I purchased it, and here is my unbiased review!
Hanna is back in all her smartassyness glory! With famous artists are being threatened and her boss is no where to be found. Hanna feels lost, but she’ll get to the bottom of it. No matter what! Love Sucks is charming, witty, and laugh-out-loud funny. Cynthia St. Aubin has created a another must read series!
I’m thrilled to be chatting about Cynthia St. Aubin’s second book in the Tails of the Alpha Art Gallery series. I do recommend starting with Love Bites as there is a LOT of information in addition to the story being so much fun. I had the opportunity to read Love Bites last year and it was so much fun that I bought it immediately BUT we finished up with a bombshell of information that left me itching for the next book. Not even the knowledge that I had pre-ordered the second book could soothe me. This review will be a bit vaguer than I would like simply because I don’t want to give away any twists.
St. Aubin takes us back into the chaos that is Hanna’s life starting with an intriguing prologue that promises danger. I binged Love Sucks over a couple of hours and have zero regrets beyond the intense craving for soft cheeses. If you’ve read the blurb, then you know that the artists are being hunted by something. The quick pacing and tension from the escalating threats had me rushing to turn pages.
Abernathy is his same broody self, but we learn a bit more about him beyond the fact that he is essentially sex on a stick and hundreds of years old. His disappearing acts still drive me absolutely insane and I have lots of wishful thinking regarding that unfortunate habit. Hanna’s character really had a chance to grow in this installment. We still have the same cat-loving, cheese obsessed, smartassy heroine but as she learns more about her connection to the paranormal world and danger comes for her, Hanna seems to find her footing. This is series is still a bit heavier on the mystery, not saying that’s a downfall, but we did see more of that little “love triangle” between Hanna, Abernathy, and Morrison.
St. Aubin is one of my go-to authors when I need something funny. Love Sucks has St. Aubin’s trademark humor and heart that managed to make me laugh-out-loud several times. I have a near overwhelming love for the colorful cast of characters that have surrounded Hanna and love that the author takes the time to create a well-rounded cast that makes such a fantastical story feel authentic. It was a fun, floofy read that I absolutely recommend! I’m already hankering for the next book after that mic drop at the end, but for now, I’ll entertain myself with reading the last of her backlist.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed a review copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Jesus H Christ! You did not leave me like that! Anyways lol Absolutely love Hanna’s lack of tact and just saying what she means without ever truly thinking lol. Then throw in a group of truly awesome characters and you can’t put this book down. Lord Abernathy Abernathy Abernathy you either want to choke him or devour him. This is another hilarious hit from Cynthia and can’t wait for book 3!
Hanna is back and reeling from the revelations made at the end of the last book Love Bites. In this episode Hanna gets to meet some of her heroes from the art world who just happen to be long lived werewolves. That is until now because someone is killing them off. This story sucked me in and kept me flipping pages till the bombshell at the end. This book can be read standalone but is so much better if you’ve read the first. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.

My review :
When new threats and crazy werewolves follow her every steps, whom to trust …
First thing to say I hate the author, she had me on edge for almost the whole book because of the opening scene.
After, I loved this book even more than the first one. When I often think the middle book in a trilogy is the weak one as it just ties some knots but leaves most for the last installment.
But here, the story was going better and better chapter after chapter. I did even forgive her Morrison’s lapse.
Sorry I felt like Hanna was cheating on Mark.
I still had my moments at being upset because of Hanna’s denial and blindness. Yet, Abernathy is so uptight at revealing nothing, I can also see from her point of view how trusting him is not an easy thing.
When things looked like crazy in the first book, here it reaches an other level. From the many artists showing up, the werewolf alphas in a frenzy hunt, a new sleuthing with an other unexpected villain and Hanna’s past getting a new top-notch revelation, it was quite a rollercoaster ride.
My only complain was Abernathy being an absentee for a too long part of this tale.
4.5 stars for a tale loaded like a cheese platter, so many choices and options, suspense, murders, threats, paranormal beings, secrets …
Now, the end of the year seems very far away to await for the last book.
I was granted an advance copy by the publisher, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

“I felt a twinge of satisfaction. If I couldn’t be right, I could be irritating.” – Hannah This is my new favorite quote of all time
I can not even begin to explain to you how much I love this book. Hannah has just found out that her world isn’t as simple as she thought. She now knows there are paranormal creatures living right beside her.. and working with her and that some of her favorite artists are still alive! But maybe meeting your heroes isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Vincent Van Gogh doesn’t seem to like her and she can’t fathom a world where Vincent van Gogh doesn’t love her.
Honestly you guys, I love this series. Hannah is hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing.
Pretty good book! Fun and entertaining. I enjoyed it.
I am so in love with this series! And book two is even better than the first! Let me tell you, this author can turn a phrase like nobody’s business. The writing is stellar—gorgeously vivid and descriptive, you’ll feel as if you’re right inside this imaginative, giggle-out-loud, subtly sizzling, not-your-usual shifter story. The cleverly created and developed cast of characters I adored in Love Bites has expanded to include some omg surprises that are quite believable, and boy, do they add to the thrilling suspense. I found myself reading slowly, savoring and enjoying the hell out of every word. And that ending … wow! I might have gone outside and howled in frustration that the final book in this delicious series won’t be out until October.
I was so fortunate to get a copy of this book through NetGalley, in exchange for a review, since I am a huge fan of Cynthia St Aubin. What a fun read for sure, now I would recommend that you read the first book in the series since this book picks up were the other one left off. Plus you get to meet all the fun characters in the book. There are plenty laugh out loud moments, some steamy romance and of course some action and suspense, all sprinkled with the paranormal. I can’t wait to see what will happen next, the chemistry between Hanna and Abernathy is great, and now that I have devoured this book I will re-read it at a slower pace to savor it more.
This is the first book by St Aubin I have read. It is the second in a series so I was a bit confused but the story moves so well that I understood it.
I loved the characters and the story. It was engaging and funny. I will definitely be reading more of St Aubin’s books
