Never the kind of witch to work with deities, Valentina is getting rather good at it. She’s convinced four powerful gods to join her on her quest to save the Major Arcana and restore the Mysteries of the Tarot. She needs to track down at least four other gods, but that will have to wait. Family comes first. And her family has been possessed by creatures from another dimension. It’s up to her to … to exorcise the foreign entities. Except… she’s never performed an exorcism before…
Add a broken time sensor on top of that, a curse as old as her witch lineage, and she’s got enough on her plate. And when it comes to Loki, Veles, Jupiter, and Nergal, Valentina can’t decide whether she’s made the right choice, or gotten herself in over her head. Only time will tell, but time is running out.

New Adventures for Our Heroine
When I first started reviewing books big time last year, this series was one of the first ones that I read. Luckily, I came along just as the series was starting. I was enraptured by the series right away because I’ve had a lifelong interest in the tarot cards, and I love books that have that woven into the fabric of the story. This series is even more than just that, though, as it is jam-packed full of adventures, twists and turns, unexpected happenings, and uncooperative old gods. There is a little globe-trotting at times, too! The overall story arc is about our heroine having to gather all the male figures of the major Arcana. There is a deep story about why this is important, but you’ll have to read the books to find that out. But of course, that isn’t the only thing our heroine has to deal with. In fact, her coven, including her parents, have been possessed by evil entities, and she wants to exorcise all of them to get her covenmates and family back. This book had me right from the first scene, where she tries to exorcise her parents. This book is not a standalone, as much has happened before this that you really need to know in order to fully appreciate the book. But the other two books are exceptional as well, so if a little paranormal suspense involving the tarot and ancient gods interests you, might very well want to start this series from the beginning.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Book 3 of the Rise of the Ash Gods series and pretty gosh darn good! We continue where we left off of this fast paced story and can’t wait to find out what happens next!

The Sacred Maiden is the third book in the Rise of the Ash Gods series and Valentina’s story just gets better and better. I recommend you read the first two books before reading this one so you fully understand what is going on. I love the interactions and the chemistry between the characters. This is an action packed story with drama, mystery, secrets, suspense, danger, intrigue and twists that kept me turning the pages.
I love Cara she writes phenomenal storys this is book 3 and wow! I loved the characters! The story flows is fantastic and highly recommend giving this a read!
Valentina is a complete dumbass and she’s getting on my nerves I’m so annoyed right now she knew better and yet she chose wrong as per usual. I hope she pulls her head out of her ass in the next book.
Valentina is still trying to finish collect the rest of the Ash Gods for the tarot and things are not always going the way she would like. I was not expecting the ending to this one at all. I can’t wait to find out how she gets out of the current situation.
We pick up where we left off in the previous book, with Val confronting her possessed parents. Hades is being a proper Hermit, sticking to following Val around, but coming through with a solution for her Ravenna problem, not that Valentina accepts it as viable but it is a solution. The sun does shine bright, and we get to see a different side of a God, Mithra was a pleasant surprise. Add two that two very different aspects of Shiva, a vampire trying to make things right through suspicious ways, and a mean Goddess and you’ll end the book stuck in the same way as Val. Progress is progress no matter the cost, right?

I normally like this author, but I just couldn’t get into this story. Plenty of people did so it’s a matter of taste. Just not my cup of tea at all.
I really enjoyed this book, it followed on seamlessly the last of the series and was interesting. I recommend you start at the beginning with “The test”, then “The hanged maiden” and “The cloaked maiden”. This is a really good original series!
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. The Sacred Maiden: A Reverse Harem Romance by Cara Wylde is the third book in the Rise of the Ash Gods series. I LOVE this series! I admit to having an intimate knowledge of Tarot Cards and their workings and let me just say that Cara Wylde has taken the Tarot mystery and worked it into an amazing, heart thumping, gasp inducing, head banging, nail biting, OMG (Repeat as a Mantra) adventure. With Valentina hot on the heels of the Gods needed to complete the Major Arcana, the drama and emotions have been ratcheted up to a string popping point. As I sit here writing this review, my heart is starting to pound all over again. Danger lurks around every corner, everyone had their own agenda and the novice witch is coming into her own… but her own what?! There is a cliff hanger style setup for the next book. This addictively immersive series must be read in the order written (and the prequel should be read as well!) to get the maximum enjoyment and best understanding of the series. This is a Mature Readers Only Read.
