What a delightful addition to this wonderful series! Fate brings together two people who would most likely never met otherwise! An adventurous American, Zach Caldwell came to England after being left his Uncle’s title and holdings. No, not exciting because the place was run down and in disarray and he worked to restore it. Although he really just wanted to go back to America, not really caring for the society in England. Unfortunately, a family heirloom is stolen and he has to put himself into society to be able to find it.
Miss Rebecca Hawkins is bored out of her mind. Her uncle is determined to marry her off. But does it have to be to the most mind numbing, totally uninteresting, obsessed with his dogs, man? Then like a light, she catches the eye of of Zach and it seems they find a kindred spirit in each other. Both loving adventure (although she has really not had any but she knows what she wants!)
Seriously when I started reading I could not stop. I was so anxious to see what would happen next and how these two would end up together!!
As all of this marvelous author’s stories, there is everything you want to keep your attention and truly you will not be able to put it down! If you have not read the previous two, don’t miss them!
How to Climb a Lady’s Tower by Bree Wolf is such a fun book. It is full of humor and lightness in a way one doesn’t normally see in these types of books. Of course, it has a young woman who doesn’t fit the mold, Rebecca Hawkins. There is a young Earl as well, Zachary Caswell, who has come from America to claim his inheritance, but it not at all happy with what he finds. After receiving a letter from his brother, describing a betrayal by Nate’s fiancée, and more importantly the loss of his mother’s ring through said fiancée, life finally has some meaning: finding and retrieving the ring. Meanwhile Rebecca’s total focus is avoiding a betrothal to Lord Tedious (Coleridge). Her uncle is all for the betrothal and its avoidance must be handled carefully. At one of many balls, Rebecca and Zach meet and eventually decide to help one another achieve their goals.
Rebecca has a “bucket list” of sorts, things she hopes to accomplish before she has to settle down. Knowing Lord Tedious will never help with the list, she enlists, Zach. They have fun together. Zach is totally enthralled by this lovely woman and her enthusiastic response to life. He continues to look for the ring, even making a late-night visit to Ravenwood where he “meets” his cousin. Making a replica of the ring, Rebecca hopes to draw out the thief while Zach continues to break into people’s homes. Neither of them are successful, until they are. This is such a fun book to read, albeit with serious overtones. I totally enjoyed it and recommend it without reservation. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
I received a free ARC of How to Climb a Lady’s Tower from Dragonblade in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.
Miss Rebecca Hawkins had a list. Instead of being a pawn in her uncle’s game for title and station, she dreamed of other things:
1. Take an unchaperoned stroll under the moon
2. Ride astride along Rotten Row
3. Swim in the sea
4. Kiss a stranger
5. Get married in Gretna Green.
However, her uncle was trying to marry her to the most boring Lord he could find. The only comfort she had was her cousin that lived in the same household. An American, Zachary Caswell, had come to London to claim his uncle’s title and estate. He was a man of adventure and she happens to meet him at a ball. Could they find a reason to find romance and adventure? This is an interesting situation that keeps you turning the pages. Thank you, Bree Wolf, for introducing us to the wonderful characters and I can not wait for Book 4.
Miss Rebecca Hawkins was handful and quite adventuresome with her antics in “How to Tame a Beastly Lord” book. Rebecca is set to marry a man she doesn’t love and sets out discourage him from proposing him. Zachary Caswell travels to England upon inheriting his uncle’s title only to later find out his father’s ring was stolen and now in England. Now the search to find the lost family heirloom. Rebecca and Zachary often meet by chance, see each other across ballrooms, meets a few times, and eventually team up together to find the stolen ring. This is a wonderful story with mystery, intrigue and romance thrown into to mix to make a captivating story. An excellent story I loved and I voluntarily wrote a review.
Zachary Caswell came to England from Boston to claim his uncle’s title. He is not at all impressed with the rules and behavior of the titlted classes and is prepared to return home. That is until he gets a letter from his brother. Now he must stay to solve the problem.
Miss Rebecca Hawkins is living in her uncle’s house, but he is determined to marry her off to the most tedious man in London. She is a spirited young lady who is having to bury her true self to please others and it’s getting more difficult by the day.
This is a really fun historical romance. Our characters have wonderful personalities. They are mischievous and brave with strong feelings for how they want to live.
This is part of a series where each book can be read on it’s own, but the series is best read in order because you will meet the other characters.
Great fun.
5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical romance How to Climb a Lady’s Tower: Happy Ever Regency Series book(# 3) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A complex and ironic mix of humor and intrigue with a time frame that overlaps part of the previous book revisiting Rebecca’s trip to her school friend Eugenie at Ravengrove and, contains the ” by chance” and at times awkward meetings between Rebecca and Zach. Bored with her quiet life and controlling uncle, Miss Rebecca Hawkins with the aid of her seemingly mousy cousin Caroline challenge rules and seek excitement while portraying models of convention until the arrival of the new Earl of Pembroke,American Zachary Caswell and his mysterious friend Lord Markham the Black Baron give them hope.
Definitely 5 Stars!
Oh, how I remember Miss Rebecca Hawkins and the antics she got up to in “How to Tame a Beastly Lord” and what she gets up to in her own story!
This time what went on in that previous story is told from her point of view as well as her own beautiful romance.
As the title hints to someone climbing into a Lady’s Tower, I think I can safely say at there is much climbing in and out of upstairs windows in this new story.
Bree Wolf has outdone herself with this tale. I found it full of very amusing sections, parts where I thought that I could easily fall in love with the Hero, (move over ‘Becca’), and loving the ‘one-step-ahead-ness’ that Rebecca always seemed to be in.
I loved the way that Zach really had to keep the brakes on sexually as far as Becca was concerned and that he really did. What that poor man went through!
This is a book not to be missed and I hope you find it as enjoyable as I did.
I requested and read an Advance Reader’s copy (ARC) and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of it.
Rebecca Hawkins uncle is trying to marry her off to a man she can’t stand being around. Wanting something more than just a boring life with a boring man. Rebecca wants adventure and spark in her life. When she meets the new Lord Pembroke Zachary Caswell he makes her laugh and smile and he is not the normal stuffy, boring society lord. Zachary has had enough of London’s society. Being from America and the new Lord Pembroke he doesn’t quite fit in with society. He has all but decided to go home when he finds out someone has stolen an heirloom from his family. On a mission to find it before he goes home he meets the fiery Miss Rebecca Hawkins. Zach is drawn to her spirit, her honesty and her smile. And the adventure begins! Such a good story, I loved the fiery Rebecca, and Zach is perfect for her. I loved the story enjoyed reading Rebecca and Zach’s story. I loved how we first met Rebecca in a previous book and you got to relive that in this story. Fun to read definitely recommend reading this book.
