Have you heard the rumor about campus celebrity DJ Dalton? No, not the one about number of the zeros in his bank account. Or the one about his father, the head football coach. Or even the one about his special talent between the sheets.I’m talking about the one where he has a female roommate in an all-male dorm.I can’t speak to the first three, but that fourth one is true. I know because that girl … is true. I know because that girl in his room is me.
Because of an error by the college, I’m placed with Mr. Campus Celebrity in the traditionally male dorm.
Is he panty-meltingly handsome with an attitude to match? Sure.
Do I accidentally fanaticize about him one (okay, maybe two) times? Fine, I’m honest enough to admit it.
None of that matters, because we’re opposites in all the ways that are important for getting along as college roommates:
He comes from a perfect life and old money. I come from a broken home and bowls of ramen.
He’s at Greene State to party. I’m here to study.
He’s a popular jock. I wouldn’t be caught dead playing sports.
To say we get off to a rocky start would be an understatement.
Ironically, that’s what causes our sizzling attraction to boil over one night. But even that comes at a price.
Because our story has a twist neither of us could see coming.
One that changes both of our lives, ‘till death do us part.

HATE Mates was a really amazing read!!
The Chemistry between DJ and Alex was hot. The walking fine line between right and wrong. Should/Shouldn’t kept me turning pages!
“I’m not asking you to be with me forever, I’m asking you to forgive me” (love this line!!)
I really loved this story because there are so many other characters and the banter and the bond of friendship, the seriousness of some of the topics divorce, consequences, college parties, the troubles that can often come along with the college scene, really gave the book a new level of realism, still had that Mickey Miller teasing/steamy scenes which made the book an even better read!
I highly recommend!!
Loved this comedy of errors that put Alex and DJ into each other’s paths. DJ was a good guy who carried a lot of pressure on his back with football, and Alex provided the perfect distraction he needed. It was sexy, funny, and full of emotion and hot chemistry!
I seriously adored this book!! It was the perfect balance of heat, tension, humor, chemistry and romance. I am a bit of a sucker for sport romance, I love when I can really feel the characters and they leave you wanting for more, just like Alex and DJ did in this story. Alex and DJ are perfectly matched, I loved their banter and their chemistry sizzled. Hatemates is a sweet, funny, sexy, sports romance, with characters you can’t get enough of, and you do not want to miss out on. A definite 5 STAR read and one I highly recommend!
When I first started reviewing romance, I stumbled across a few male romance writers. Because it was almost like finding a unicorn in the wild, I tried books by several of them. Nearly 1000 reviews later, Miller is one of only two I’ve stayed with faithfully, each new release being an auto 1-Click for me. Over time I’ve watched his skills grow, with each new book being better than the last.
Alex and DJ’s story is the first in a brand new YA/NA series set in a mid-west college town. DJ Dalton is the promising new football star in a university that has an overabundance of incoming female freshmen. Due to a mix up because of her name, Alex Reyes is assigned to the Dalton dormitory whose population is 100% male, except for Alex. Even worse, she’s assigned a dorm room with the big man on campus himself, DJ. Awkward. DJ may be attracted to the fiery Alex, but at least he’s one of the few guys who makes eye contact with her eyes and not her shirt.
With the humor and heart (and a dash of heat) we’ve come to expect from this writer, Alex and DJ’s story is compelling, engaging and tons of fun. I read this story in one sitting, enjoying the typical antics of the college environment while appreciating the low angst level and refreshing maturity of the characters. This one will appeal to all romance readers, but especially sports romance and young adult fans. Get in on this series from the beginning, because once you read this funny, heartfelt, phenomenal story, you’ll be eager to get your hands on the rest of the books in this series.
A refreshing college romance with a tantalising slow burn, I was mesmerised by the main characters, Alex and DJ.
Arriving for freshman year to discover that due to an administration error, Alex is rightly horrified that she will have to room-share with the famous new Quarterback. Assumptions are made, grudges held, but explosive connection cannot be dampened. The humorous banter between DJ and Alex was fun and addictive. Tempting, teasing, these two were HOT and yes I did shout that
Both with troubled histories to be learnt, Alex and DJ’s journey of exploring their feelings and coping with the first months of college had me captivated. The supporting cast of characters were superb and really added a roundness to the story with little nuggets of intrigue that paths the way for future books in this series, which I wholeheartedly look forward to.
Mickey Miller knows how to draw a reader in and keep you hooked throughout until that very last page and this book proves again, what a talented storyteller he is.
I really enjoyed DJ and Alex’s story. I love a romance that is packed with plenty of emotions and this book definitely fits that description. I thought both characters were likable and had great chemistry. Their banter was clever and helped to add lots of sparks and splashes of humor to this read. I found it very interesting to discover both the similarities and differences that these two shared. Drama, twists and secrets provide many stumbling blocks for this pair as their relationship evolves and their story continues to develop. I can’t wait for the next book.
Let me start by saying that I was laughing out loud by the second chapter. The book is not all humor though. There are some serious things going on – some that are misunderstood, others that, well, you’ll see if you read it! DJ and Alex are both really likable characters and not what they seem on the surface. Their journey to the happily ever after was not without pitfalls. But, it made their HEA even sweeter. I like their friends and I’m looking forward to the next book in this new series. I sure hope we get to see more of DJ and Alex in other books.
This story was funny, steamy and really enjoyable. After Alex walks into her dorm on her chest day of college she walks into the me dorm do to a mess up cause of her name and is sharing a dorm with DJ, the hot quarterback everyone on campus wants. There back and forth banter was epic and funny and the vultures start swimming around them the really do start see the person that’s behind all the smoke and mirrors that people see, especially DJ.
This story was amazing! I loved it!
Alex and DJ were great characters! Their chemistry was explosive and the banter between them was very entertaining! They made a great couple. Will they be able to make a relationship work?
Hatemates is an amazing first book in the Forever You series! I can’t wait to see who book 2 is about!
This is the start of a new series of standalones called Forever You. This is an introduction to the series, and we are introduced to some of the friends, faculty, and families. This enemies-to-lovers book focuses on DJ and Alex, both attending Greene State University. These two felt like real people to me, with real situations & choices to make. What did I love about this young adult book? There were rom com moments interspersed with serious issues, the characters’ and their friendships (with not much angst!), the reality of life away from home-you can wear pants when you want, there are no rules! And of course, the chemistry that Mr Miller brings to his characters so well. Great set up for a new series.
I received a copy of this book. My honest opinion is voluntarily provided.
This college sports romance lured me right in from the very beginning with the great character and plot development that as I turned each and every page I felt like DJ and Alex pulled me right into their journey as it effortlessly unfolded!
I you love a good college sports romance then Hatemates has everything you would enjoy! DJ and Alex are thrown together because of circumstances beyond their control but are both struggling to make the awkward situation work. They are opposites for many reasons and are both trying to just get along but mutual attraction had gotten in the way of keeping their relationship in the friendship only zone. This story takes you through the ups and downs of a budding relationship and the drama of college life, but you will have to check it out for yourself to see how it all plays out for DJ and Alex!
When assigned roommates decide not to attend a last minute shuffle puts Alex in an all male dorm in a room with the one guy all the girls on campus want. This book was perfection! Mickey shared a lot of himself in this one but also gave us a lot more of the love/hate relationship between Alex and DJ. An unlikely situation that turns into more.
People always say never judge a book by its cover. DJ and Alex do exactly that when realize they are mistakenly set as roommates. Pasts and secrets come into play and the will they or won’t they game is in full force with these two. While I may not have fully connected with the characters at times, the story was still enjoyable and I look forward to more of this series.
