Christian Historical Western RomanceBook Four of the Very Popular Kavanagh Brothers Series Sheila Kelly is on the run. The most frightening word she knows is witchcraft. She is a healer like her mother and all the Kelly women before her. When a distraught father brings his deceased daughter to Sheila’s house, he claims that Sheila killed her. Sullivan Kavanagh was a captain in the Army, and he is … captain in the Army, and he is used to giving orders. He’s convinced when people don’t do things his way, they end up dead. He’s liked Sheila for a while but just as a friend. When her life goes awry, he decides he needs to her hide and to plan a future for her.

Is it possible for two people who are strong willed and independent to manage a relationship, or will they always believe their way is the right way? Can they learn to make decisions from their hearts instead of from their past experiences?

A really good cowboy romance.
Shelia is on the run after being accused of being a witch. But she can’t bring someone back from death no matter how good of a healer she is. When Sullivan stumbles upon her hiding spot and protects her from a lynch mob, he takes her home to help her and protect her. But this brings about a chain of events that will nearly break both him and Shelia. This story will make you angry and sad before they get their happily ever after but it is so worth it!
This is the fourth book in the Kavanagh Brothers series and needs to read in the order it was written as each book builds on from the next.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sullivan is a christian read with several chapters that are heart-wrenching. Faith in God kept Sheila sane as she traversed her hardships in life from the time she was attacked to the time she spent imprisoned for a crime she did not commit. Her struggles over many years were harsh. Sullivan Kavanagh wanted to be part of her life but she was an independent woman and struggled on her own. People suffered, family was distraught, and, loneliness was everywhere as life moved on where forgiveness was needed. I look forward to the next Kavanagh Brothers book.
Sullivan and Shelia have gone through a lot in their lives and by the time they found each other they had a lot to overcome. I really enjoyed reading their story because the author takes us along on the H and h’s journey filled with drama, heartbreak, unexpected twists and so much more. Great writing and a heartbreakingly beautiful love story make this a fabulous read.
This was another wonderful story of the Kavanagh brothers. This time it is Sullivan and the town’s healer, Sheila. There is much that is going on in this book. It plays out like a movie for the most part. There are some scenes that did not flow as nicely but overall it is a good solid story.
I did enjoy the dual POV format. It really gave a great insight into Sheila’s thoughts and the pain and suffering that she went through. I was a little shocked at the twist in the story and expected it to play out a little different than it did. At the end, it seemed a little more rushed than the rest of the story and not as thought out as well.
The road to a HEA for Sullivan and Sheila was long and extremely painful one. It was filled with tragedy, deceit and sorrow.
This is a sweet, clean historical romance with a Christian base to it. There is nothing that should offend anyone. I do look forward to the rest of the Kavanagh brothers HEAs.
Action packed, emotional roller-coaster filled with heart racing twist, engaging charters, witty dialog and exciting wild west goodness….. was a great read. Really enjoyed this exciting journey from beginning to end.
wonderful series, loved this book, author never disappoints
Sullivan Kavanagh is part of a large family that lives next to Sheila and her daughter. When the town turns on Sheila because they think she is a witch when someone brought his daughter to her for healing but the child was already dead and it is Sullivan and his family who step up to protect her and her daughter. He has always been friends with her but as things get dangerous he begins to feel more than friendship for her. Can he and his family save her and her daughter and could they have a future together? Wonderful book filled with danger suspense and romance. Loved this book.
This author has penned a story that has all of the elements of a true western story. This is Sullivan and Sheila’s story, as well as Sheila’s daughter young daughter and the entire Kavanagh Family. It is a fast moving story with lots of action including false accusations, bribery, lies, imprisionment, evil people, good friends, strong family loyalty, and romance. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it. It is a real page turner and I know you will enjoy it.
I loved this book. It was so heartbreaking reading about all that Sheila had to endure in her life. I loved how strong Sullivan was and his love and care for both Sheila and Becca. Thank you Kathleen Ball for another Kavanagh brother story (great series). I can’t wait for Donnell’s story.
I’m really enjoying this series and the Kavanagh brothers. Each book makes you want to be a part of their big family. I loved Sheila and Sullivan’s story. These two had much to overcome. I anxiously await the next book in the series.
S book grabs you from the start. They are both strong willed characters but she needs to be to survive all they put her through. Lies, greed, cover ups with a mystery too. Good book
Sullivan Kavanagh has been a loner since leaving the Army after the Civil War. Returning to his home, he didn’t date or spend time with anyone.
He met Sheila Kelly in the woods and they struck up a friendship.
Sheila’s life had been rough from the beginning and she needed a friend.. Sullivan was that friend.. She didn’t want to be married. She wanted to live her life with her daughter and not have her life in constant turmoil.
Wrongly accused of a horrible crime, and also being taunted as a witch, caused her to run. Sullivan found her, hid her and Becca and decided they must marry, He takes care of it without consulting Sheila. She is furious, but knows they must to protect Becca. A quick marriage to Sullivan will hopefully keep
Becca safe when she is sent to prison or hanged. She doesn’t know what her fate will be.
Sheila was tried and convicted and sent to a Women’s Prison, even the lawyer Sullivan hired couldn’t save her from that fate.
Living life without Sheila was difficult for Sullivan and Becca. Finding out she had died in prison devastated him. Things started happening to make him think he was losing his mind..
Deception had put Sheila in that jail, and now he needed to find out the truth once and for all. Will he figure it out in time?
This book is a must read… The characters are so amazing and well written. You are grabbed from the beginning and you won’t put the book down until you finish. Two strong willed people who desperately need each other must find a way to work together and realize what life can be when they work together and not against each others wills.
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
When evil weaves it’s web it can be unbearable o those caught in it. The characters in this story bear it all with God’s aid. This was hard to read because I loved the characters so much and it was written with balance between evil and good moments. this is a must read in the series.
Shelia was raped and had her daughter Becca out of wedlock. At the beginning of this story the townspeople try to string her up because she can’t bring a child that was badly burned back to life. She’s found guilty even though there was plenty of testimony that the child was already dead when she saw her. I don’t know why they never tried to have that conviction overturned. Then she is sent to hard labor women’s prison with beatings and starvation. This was a really depressing romance and I struggled to finish it. I didn’t like it as much as they other books in the series.
