Sophia always knew her fate would be an arranged marriage, but when she’s given to Alessandro, the ruthless Capo to the Chicago outfit, her sheltered life turns into an unpredictable game of survival. Alessandro is a fascinating man and her new family dangerous. If she wants to win this game, she must become more ruthless than her friends and enemies. A refreshing take on the mafia genre, The Bloody Bride is a gritty and authentic story. Sophia knows the world she’s been raised in and accepts her way of life. She is not blind to who her husband really is and wants to find her place in her marriage. Alessandro is a mysterious man, with his own agenda. But he doesn’t take into account his bride and her resilience. I can’t wait for the next book, Principessa of Chicago!

“What do you worship?”
“You, Sophia Rocchetti. I worship you.”
I already love Sophia Rocchetti so much. And hopefully book 2 will give me at least a little more of Sophia and Alessandro together, I’m so curious to see how their relationship (or, what’s left of it) is going.
3.5
This book was definitely a mafia book. Sophia always knew at some point she would be apart of an arranged marriage. She was to be arranged in a marriage with Alessandro, the capo of Chicago.
This book was centered mostly around living the mafia life and getting to know Sophia’s personality and character ,and not to much romance between the characters. I actually enjoyed learning more about the mafia world and getting to know each characters backgrounds.
This was one of my favorite arranged marriage books, and book two was even better.
I had picked up the book before and only gotten to page 86 but I picked it up again the other day and finished it. The relationship between the couple was not my favorite. I kept reading because I loved the plot I was at a soccer game and I was in the stands reading because I had to finish the last chapter. I will say that I thought they were both stupid how she didn’t think she was pregnant. She was like it only happened one time. That is all it takes. Also with her sister being alive how did she miss the hints.
The author and I are not far apart in age, but the way she weaves the stories like silk strands and the way she has with words is absolutely commendable.
The male protagonist, Alessandro Rocchetti is an enigma. He is the male lead and yet so damn mysterious and intriguing, he’ll have you hanging onto his every word.
The female protagonist, Sophia Padovino, is a meek, scared bride on the outside, but she teaches you the true meaning of mafia with her ruthlessness, her ambition and her cunning. Damn, the author has made the characters so artfully, realistic yet so deep.
The plot starts slowly then picks up pace leaving you like Whoa! I didn’t see that coming.
This is a commendable book and an incredible plot within, and outside the mafia genre, wiyh it’s gripping plot, dirty talk, steamy romance and heart-breaking dialogues and earth-shattering revelations.
Must read!!
This is the first book to the rocchetti dynasty series where we get an introduction into Sophia and Alessandro’s life more than their relationship.
Sophia is a dutiful and loyal daughter, feeling worried towards marrying a man with a terrifying reputation along with doing what needs to be done and marrying him because it’s what honor dictates.
Alessandro is a cold hearted killer that to start off with wants nothing to do with his marriage and would rather busy himself with working in his ‘business’ full time.
The book does start off quite slow but does gradually progress towards the cliffhanger at the end.
3.5 stars for this very realistic rise to power of a woman inside the Chicago Outfit.
Told from Sophia’s POV, the book opens with Sophia on her wedding day to Alessandro, capo in the Chicago Outfit. She is terrified of him and his family.
Married life starts off with a bang for her as the wedding party is attacked in church by the Irish and she has to kill someone.
She then moves to Alessandro’s apartment but she lives in constant fear that she will say or do the wrong thing and he will beat or even kill her. And he doesn’t help things
Her life as a mafia bride is pretty boring and she mostly keeps away from Alessandro.
Most of all, I liked that Sophia’s situation is not romanticized. She has to navigate turbulent waters with her new family and lives in constant fear. She plays dumb a lot of the time but she is actually smart and driven.
There is no romance in the book what so ever with all the politics and fear and it was refreshing.
There is something brewing in the background but the plot twist is pretty predictable and the pacing is pretty slow. However, the writing is compelling enough that I will start book 2.
Bree porter is one of the best Authors I have come across, this book was amazing I couldn’t put it down I had to read it in 24 hours to know what would happen next. I love how Sophia is such a strong female character how she made everyone believe that she was just a dumb unintelligent native girl when she was not.
Alessandro Rocchetti didn’t smile at me as he leaned in to give me a soft kiss. Only kept his dark eyes trained on me, the same way a lion might watch a gazelle.
Then the windows shattered.
I’m a mafia lover. For as long as I can remember, I go on Goodreads and search for books in the mafia section. When I first came across The Rocchetti Dynasty, I was very interested in reading the books. I read the first book and stopped halfway. I didn’t go back to it until a month later. I reread it and saw it in a whole different light. What I loved the most is how it got down to the nitty-gritty of the Mafia world. Although I did wish for more interactions between Sofia and Alessandro, I understood where the author was coming from. The marriage was still fresh and due to Alessandro being Alessandro, it would be a little difficult to make it a merry marriage.
Getting down to the book itself, It was well-written and well throughout. I loved the plot and the direction it was heading. It certainly wasn’t my favorite book in the series, but I still have reread it several times. Each time I do, I discover a hidden gem. Which is really gets me going.
I truly did enjoy the book after getting through the entire thing. It took a little longer than expected, but I’m glad I did. It was written in a way where we got to see into Sofia’s head, and I’ve never connected more with a character. She was interesting, to say the least.
Wow! Amazing! The way there marriage starts just grips you and you feel like your living through all the chaos in there lives! Such a freaking great love and book! Awesome !
Bree Porter is an author I’m so mad I didn’t start reading before! She’s such a force and her writing is amazing. I am so obsessed with this book it was intriguing, romantic, suspenseful and kept me hooked into the end.
Great start of this mafia romance trilogy! I’ve read all Cora Reilly’s books and I was happy to find another story of arranged marriage in the Outfit world.
The plot is interesting if you like this kind of mafia romance. I liked Sophia and Alessandro a lot. The story is told from Sophia POV. I wish we could read Alessandro POV too but still the book is very enjoyable and we are finding out what’s going on at the same time that Sophia does. She’s been prepared to be the perfect wife of a gangster and even she’s terrified of the Rochetti capo, she does her best to fit in her role.
Alessandro is used to violence, dead and power and he doesn’t know what to do of Sophia. They start their wedding with a blood bath and have to recover from that unusual starting. There’re several secrets that Sophia needs to learn about regarding her old and new family as well as deal with different people from the Outfit and most importantly, her husband.
I loved that Sophia isn’t helpless and if her life is in danger, she’s willing to fight and defend herself the best she can. She is smart and has accepted her role in the mafia world and what it means now that she’s a Rochetti.
There are a lot of typos that hopefully there have been corrected in the last version of the book. I’m definitely reading the next book.
This is the book you can’t stop reading. Men can use their gun but this bitch used her head to be in that position and ready for the battle.
Wow, I loved this book! I started my day in a small bit of a book funk, and read the first few pages of a couple books but just wasn’t feeling anything. UNTIL I PICKED UP THE BLOODY BRIDE! I was hooked right from the start. I ended my day finishing this book! I couldn’t put it down.
The Bloody Bride is intense and violent, but with this emotional undercurrent. I loved the characters and the slow burn between the Alessandro and Sophia. I really enjoy when a couple develops organically like this. I’m also a big fan of character growth and I can see how these characters are evolving. I’m really looking forward to the rest of this series!
What can I say except WOW!! This is one of my new favorites. This is a new to me author, but I am looking forward to all of her future work.

I really love this book. It is almost my perfect Mafia Romance. It is actually a little creepy because if I were to write a mafia romance for me to read, it would be very similar to this one. When I found it, I was suspicious because it was so perfect for me and I was thinking how I hadn’t read it before and maybe I did and didn’t like it, but it was a recent release!
I loved Sophia! It is a huge pet peeve of mine when mafia heroines who were raised in the mafia are absolute idiots about the mafia. They talk back, are rude, etc. Which wouldn’t fly, realistically. Sophia was strong, but knew when to keep her mouth shut.
I liked Alessandro, other than his uncanny ability to tell if Sophia was lying. It got to the point where it was a little annoying. I didn’t really like him in the beginning, but I warmed up to him, which is perfect for a mafia romance.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book! I really loved it and I can’t wait for more from this author!
YES!!! Another mafia romance homerun!! Damn. This one was good. I read it in one day. Couldn’t put it down – except to sleep for a few hours. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I mean, when you start a book with a bloody wedding, there really is no turning back. And that ending?!? Yeah, I’m starting the next book right about now. I need to see Sophia continue to find her self and I need some answers from Alessandro. You worship her?!? Really?!? Prove it, buddy.
I debated with myself for about a minute about whether to give this book four and a half stars or five stars. I finally settled on five stars because I have one expectation when I start a book: tell me a good story. There were a few grammatical errors that made me pause for a second but the story was still there. So….!!
If you like arranged mafia marriage, plot twists, and action, this is the book for you! Sophia was raised to become a mafia wife. She knows what it takes, but is scared when she marries into the great Rocchetti family. She has heard the rumors and fears her new husband Alessandro. How will everything work out for Sophia? Will she be a great wife or another casualty of The Rocchetti family?
