An interesting read. Gus is a real interesting character, she has secrets and fights for herself and her sister. When her sister almost gets killed, the Vamp Lord of the region takes an interest in Gus. Will she give him her secrets as she fights to find out who was after her sister and her, and will his interest in her turn her head.
I liked this as it is, but there were a few instances where i couldn’t believe Gus had caved and given up her answers totally, for no reason. Just because.. ah well

Gus and her sister Mel were on the run and in hiding. Gus was the main protector. They were humans living in a world of vampires and gargoyles. Elijah was the leader in the sector they were staying in. A series of unfortunate happenings caused them to gain Elijah’s attention in more ways than one. This interesting and exciting adventure has secrets, intrigue, danger and love interwoven between the pages with a few surprises along the way. Good read

With a Cult trying to force its way into his Sector, severely beating a disgraced guard and mutilating a woman’s body, and now a third woman attacked, vampire Elijah Nicholas needs to stop them at all costs. Now he is looking for help from a woman running from her past. Her sister, Mel, had gone out to the store in the evening. She was followed by a scary man who moved in a freaky sort of way and she diverted her path to a warehouse to lose him. She called Gus for help, then Gus heard her scream. The man attacked Mel then came after Gus Vega when she entered the abandoned meat market. She took down the attacker. Mel was unconscious on the floor and bleeding badly, but Shawn and Henry had followed Gus from the bar where she worked and she told them to get help. Then the shadowed figure with bloody hands was up and reaching for Mel again! He threw Gus through the plate glass window, and she hurled her throwing knife at him – but before it struck him, he suddenly disappeared! Shawn took her weapons to the car to hide them before the Glaive showed up to investigate this incident. Gus, who had promised her father she would do anything to protect her younger sister, is the only one who has survived after fighting the mysterious killer. Lord Elijah needs to question her.
But she wants no part of Elijah’s problem. He is at the top of the food chain out there, the Lord Chevalier, and she has been hiding from them for some time now. Regardless, Gus gets pulled in to join Elijah in this fight against a monster they may not survive. This can bring them closer to each other or destroy them. Who will come out on top in this one?
