This is the second book in Elise Marion’s “Sons of Cardena” series where Princess Leila Rothchester runs away from home to try and find her friend who has been kidnapped. She’s never been the ruffled, frilly type of princess. Instead, being party gypsy as her mother’s child, she accomplished with knives and swords and a few traits from her heritage. Actually, that’s how she came into contact with Captain Warren Turner. If you’ve read any of Elise Marion’s books, then you know she works her magic with a slow burn between a Hero and heroine and this book is no exception. I was lucky enough to be given an ARC of book from Brooksprout and this is my honest and voluntary review.
What a wonderful book this is! Filled with romance, adventure, and suspense, this book had me turning the pages anxious to find out what happens next. I could not put this book down! The storyline was well crafted with plenty of plot twists along the way. The characters were strong and well developed. Leila is independent and determined and Captain Turner is her perfect ally. I enjoyed watching their love grow and blossom. This was quite the page-turner filled with adventure, suspense, and mystery. I was disappointed when it ended. Looking forward to the next book!

Danger, Intrigue, suspense, a smoldering romance and two strong characters who come together to find a missing friend. What more can you ask for?
Princess Leia had never looked forward to the role of a perfect, proper princess and as an adult, there were some things that were more important. Like finding her friend who had been missing for five months, way too long. She set out at night on her journey, headed toward a neighboring Kingdom of Hanov, She just knew that Lord Shaw who had visited them during that time had something to do with it.
Upon arriving she meets Captain Warren Turner. and the excitement begins!!
Great story that held my attention and I cannot wait for more!
This was a highly entertaining book, and I absolutely loved Leila right until she morphed into a stubborn martyr drama queen when they left for home. Her actions regarding the prince during that whole section of the story didn’t make sense either. It’s like a completely different person wrote that part. However, aside from that, I thought it was a great book. Courage, intrigue, friendship, family, loyalty, determination, and love were some of the undercurrents in this yummy steamfest. It ends in a sfn whopper of a cliffhanger.
I received a free copy of The Princess Spy, but that did not affect my review.
This book was packed with intrigue and adventure. Throw in some romance and wonderful writing and you have a marvelous story. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.

Princess Leila Rothchester sets out for Hanov where she believes she will find her missing friend. She meets Captain Warren Turner who works for the King of Hanov, but she is suspicious of him. He likewise knows she is not what she seems, so he is suspicious of her as well. But he joins her to find her missing friend, and she begins to feel an attraction for him. But as the danger mounts, they must work together for survival. Can she trust him? Will they save her friend?
This was a good story, filled with mistrust and suspicion as one would expect of spies. The world-building is especially good, making the story line more realistic and allows the reader to feel as if it surrounds them. The love story was also handled very well to make this an enjoyable read. Definitely recommended.
A political thriller
A political thriller awaits you in The Princess Spy Leila set out on a course to find the truth. She is also attracted to Captain Warren Turner, but not sure he is someone she can trust. Yet, fate has these two work together as the attracted between them grows but, so does the danger and intrigue that they are faced with. This was a really good book, in fact, it was gripping and a page-turner for me. I thought the cast of characters were splendid and well-written and along with one outstanding plot, this is a book is well worth having. Check this one out you will be glad you did. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

4.5 Stars

This is the second book in the series & can easily be read on its own. A well written page turning read that drew me in from the start & held me until the final page & also left me wanting the next book in the series. Strong characters who were well portrayed added to the enjoyment. I loved Leila the feisty princess who wanted to be seen for herself & I loved it when she final had her wish. Warren was strong, honourable & loyal. There attraction to each other sizzled from their first meeting & only grew but they also saw each other & came to like as well as love each other. There was plenty of intrigue, secrets & false assumptions before most things were resolved only for new issues to arise. An engrossing read
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Wow, What a great book! I read book one , The Gypsy Prince and then read book two. Both books can be read as a stand-alone but are much better read together. In this story Princess Leila sets out for Hanov to find her missing friend. Once there she meets Captain Turner who works for the king of Hanov. They join forces to find Mary Ann, Leila’s friend, and to stop Lord Shaw from causing conflict between Hanov and Cardenas. There is a great deal of action, romance, suspense and drama in this book. This is a great book and you just can’t put it down once you start it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
