I loved every minute of this delicious book with characters you like and want to know about them and a beautifully written story that I couldn’t put down from the first word to the last. I loved Scarlett Jackson who runs her own food truck – For Goodness Cakes and enjoyed her undeniable chemistry with famous chef and entrepreneur Guy Chapman. Mary Frame blew me away with this fun and touching contemporary romance and I look forward to reading more from this gifted author. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review. I liked it so much, I purchased a copy to enjoy again.
This was a cute read from a new author for me. I really enjoyed it.
What a fun book. It’s about a klutzy southern chef, Scarlett, who couldn’t find a job, so she bought a truck and started baking cupcakes. She parks that truck in a spot right next to the ritzy row of restaurants owned by a top chef, Guy, who wouldn’t hire her. A bit of a prank war starts between the two when he wants her parking spot to expand his outdoor seating, but she doesn’t want to give it up. But love and war are just a hairbreadth apart.
This is a fun and witty book, filled with humor, surprises, and romance. It’s heart-warming, and will envelope you in the story quickly, and keep you wrapped up until the very end. Scarlett is an amazing person. As with all of the Mary Frame books that I’ve read, this one is a winner.
While this is book six in the series, it works perfectly as a standalone. Also, the lead characters are great, but it’s the secondary characters that truly make this book sing. Combine them, and you get a wonderful, perfect romantic comedy. The writing is great, the story well plotted, and it is, truly, a quick, fun read.
I received a free ARC of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
This is a well written book with a cast of strong characters centering around Scarlett and Guy. The author brings a fun and entertaining enemy to lovers romance with realistic characters and a humorous and sexy story. The chemistry is hot and the scenes steamy. The story moves fluidly and I loved reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
FACING ONE’S PROBLEMS CAN LEAD TO HAPPINESS
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review
Guy and Scarlett are somewhat rivals, as Scarlett is renting property, that Guy desperately wants, for her food truck. Scarlett stands up to Guy and they start being a little friendlier to each other and find a solution to the trucks and the property, ending in a HEA.
Perfectly Delish!
Mary Frame’s latest book, Imperfectly Delicious is just that … delish
It’s a super cute installment in the Imperfectly series that stands alone but brings the best of the series to the story
Guy is a famous chef who appeared on a reality cooking show where he ran into Scarlett in the past. He’s got a reputation for being ruthless in the kitchen and in business, but he’s not what it seems when it comes to those he loves … or those for whom he’s smitten
Scarlett is a southern baker who ends up in NYC driving a food truck. She’s on a tight budget and keeping the food truck is always on her mind. She’s carrying scars from her self-absorbed parents that gave her the idea that love is for other people, despite the best efforts of the posse in her corner in the way of Granny, Bethany, and Fred.
The sub characters in this book really make it. .. if you’ve read other books by Ms. Frame, they will be familiar friends … but if not, these characters stand on their own, from sisters Ava and Emma, Carson, Reese, and Oliver.
For me Imperfectly Delicious was perfect. It’s a delightful read with a solid, well written storyline with a heartwarming plot that will have you cheering for the good guys, smiling at the creative names, and sighing over the witty banter between the characters. This story will warm your heart
This book is on my TBRR shelf and I’ve already started the re-read.
I received an ARC. This is my honest review
Mary Frame
Do not know why but I do love a good romance that centers around chefs once in awhile. This is the first time I came across this author with the characters picking at my interest with one being a chef. Guy is the big time chef in here with lots of ambition but not as much it would seem as Scarlett once you get her background and why. Once they are aware of each other again it is on it would seem. Battle of the wills with territory being in there also. But the wrench in all that is the chemistry and the seering heat that builds also. Watching and seeing how this works out is the fun of seeing these two at work and play. You are also given a taste on how one lives with someone with difficulties. A good one that gives a escape with romance and bits of humor.
What a fun, romantic comedy that had me laughing a lot. Scarlett was such a fun character. She owns a food truck, For Goodness Cakes, and she does catering on the side to make ends meet. She is funny and kind of a klutz. I enjoyed that she was a chef and her specialty was cupcakes. It was funny to hear the names of some of the cupcakes, especially when she was mad at Guy.
I also liked Guy, who was opening a restaurant very close to Scarlett’s food truck and her truck being parked nearby was not in his plans. The way they met and all of the antics in between made for a delightful read. I also enjoyed learning about Angelman Syndrome which one of Guy’s sisters had. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This is a great book to read I enjoyed the well developed and engaging characters throughout the pages. The storyline flowed smoothly from the beginning to the end.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Someone give me Scarlett’s cupcakes! To say I like this book is reductive, I definitely loooooooved it! I love sassy spunky heroines, and if they are also messy and a bit goofy it makes everything more funny. Her cupcake food truck is amazing and I love her dynamics with Fred too, she is the nerd everyone of us want to be. What can I say about Guy… I love how protective and attentive he is, and I was so looking forward to know more about him! And the chemistry between him and Scarlett is so incredible. Cherry on top of it? Meeting Granny in the end!
Definitely recommend it!!!
Imperfectly Delicious is a great book! It’s humorous, sexy and filled with southern charm! A clumsy heroin and not so perfect hero a food truck and five star restaurant make a great read! I loved this book! The whole series is fantastic! Mary Frame is a great author!
After dealing with the new world full of Covid19 for over a month, this book was such a refreshing bright ray of sunshine in my life.
I found Mary Frame’s books a few years ago and I love her style and humor. I truly get her! This book is another great story. Her characters in this book (and past books) are quirky and lovable and I miss them already now that I have finished this book.
Two people that would seem to not be each other’s soulmate, find that they are truly meant to be. The path that they find this out is funny and hot blooded. There are many humorous scenes which had me laughing and I appreciated that at this time of life so much! While the story is light-hearted and an easy read, it also has a serious side to it at times.
I received the advanced reading copy of this book from the author. My review is my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.
Great Characters!
I really enjoyed reading Ms. Frame’s novel. I think I enjoyed her story in part due to her diversified characters. The main female character was a hoot due mainly to her Southern roots. She learned most of the sayings she used from her Granny. Now her Granny was quite the character as well; she really was a hoot and a half. The main female character’s work mate also had her own charm to her, along with her parents being quite unique. The main male character’s home life was unique and he was dedicated to his family. As well, his work environment is livened up with his assistant and his way of dealing with things. All-in-all, this novel hosted quite the ensemble cast. Besides the lovely romance, I learned about another type of syndrome causing some disabilities for a person and how the daily experiences they had were impacted by the syndrome. As well, we saw how one family dealt with having a member of the family with this disability. Ms. Frame delicately showcased a person who had this disability. These segments in the story were enlightening and heartwarming to read about. Good stuff!
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel from the author and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
This is quite the comedy of errors at the beginning. You have to buy into his complete change in personality … but not so much a change when it is the one he has with his sisters. He is complex. Some scenes really made me laugh. Some were precious. I really enjoyed this story. (I think I read this a couple years ago and it came up for some reason. Was a great re-read).
It feels real. The h is quirky but strong and curiously afraid of confrontation. The H wants something she has control of, but he can’t find her because she’s avoiding him. Watching him finding her and the confrontations to follow is hilarious.
The supporting characters are just as fun. You especially lose your heart to H’s twin daughters, one of whom has a developmental disorder. (NOTE: read “A note from Mary” after the story. It’s worth it.)
Fun, sweet couple: different goals but similar attraction
4.5stars
This story struck me as upbeat, with a bit of slapstick and a cute romance between chefs mostly set in the Big Apple. The heroine is big-hearted and a hard worker with big dreams; the hero has depths of goodness buried under a facade of privilege and ruthless perfectionism. Granny and Fred’s mom, two of a team of supportive side characters, offer extra levity. The romance has some heat but it’s not terribly explicit and it’s sprinkled with humor and touching moments with hero Guy’s young twin sisters, one of whom has a rare condition that robs her of the ability to speak.
I really liked the easy, breezy style and the characters.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review and the opinions expressed are my own.
This book is so sweet and charming. I love the plots and pranks. I love the awkward moments that have me blushing while reading. All the books of this series deserve to be read. Mary writes with lighthearted humor that isn’t too sweet.
