Book 2 of The Albany Nightingale Duet.
The crown is mine. Revenge was dealt. But at what cost?
Actions have consequences, and mine have cost more than they should. After destroying those who’ve wronged me, I’m left with a hollowness that is eating me alive. The boy I love hates me, and I hate him, even as the connection between us burns brighter than ever.
I’m on a road to self-destruction, … to self-destruction, being manipulated and twisted down a crooked path. When everything comes to a head, will those I’ve wronged save me or leave me to the fate I deserve?

“It might hurt to accept what I’ve done to Ashton, but he threw the first stone. We are both as guilty as each other.”
This picks up where we left in book 1, with now Rose as the reigning queen of Albany Nightingale Prep. But the price is high, she and Ashton’s relationship now in destruction.
“In the weeks up to the night I delivered my revenge, I pictured Sophia’s face many times, imagining my glee and satisfaction as she fell from grace.”
“Turning on my heel, I saunter away without a backward glance as her screams vibrate through the air, threatening retribution, but her words are empty. Hollow. Powerless.”
In this book we come to know more our resident Dark Prince Grayson, and I can say that I get to love him more this time than book 1.
As for Ashton what can i say he’s a good guy with a heart of gold inspite of her family crumbling he’s still in love with Rose.
‘I all but sense her discomfort from across the room, and when our eyes lock, silent realization dawns on her face.”
“Are you my knight in shining armor?”
“Armor isn’t shiny, Rose. It’s as black as my heart. But even darkness longs for the light and you, Rose, are the brightest star in the sky.”
” I’m damaged, empty, full of hate; I’m a broken queen in a tainted kingdom.”
I’m glad that everyone’s got their happy ever after, and I can’t wait for Grayson’s book – – – Dark Prince
“She was never mine and she’ll never love me like she does him, but it doesn’t matter, because she woke me up. She made me see the good that lies beneath. And for that, Rose will always have a slice of my heart.”

This second story continues immediately from where the first book finishes. And straight away you are immersed back into Rose and Ashton’s world again.
Rose Davenport has one plan now- to rule Albany Nightingale with an iron fist. The fact that she could potentially ruined people’s lives, including Ashton Cole’s mother’s, doesn’t stop her. Even though she often really isn’t a very nice person, and wasn’t in London either when you think about it, there is something about Rose that makes you want things to work out for her. She is definitely a product of her upbringing but the question remains- will she always be like this or would she learn from her mistakes?
Ashton certainly takes a stand and with everything that happens in the story he has a huge load on his shoulders, I found myself feeling very sorry for him but also very proud of him too. The love that Rose and Ashton share is a deep one, and something that is truly tested but more so, would it last?
Grayson’s character is one we get to know a lot more about and surprise, surprise- I liked him a lot! When I found out more about his childhood I was incensed on his behalf and literally wanted to knock Arthur down. It’s more though, his self-honesty was refreshing and his vulnerability endearing too. I certainly didn’t expect to like him better in this half of the story, but I did.
I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns this storyline offered. It’s a fast paced story and very easy to read. Even though I had day to day commitments all I wanted to do was continue reading until the end- a sign of a wonderful book.
Be prepared you won’t be able to put this book down. It sucks you into a reality that is so farfetched for most of us it seems like an alternate universe. The level of wealth these characters have most of us will never dream of. You will not see the conniving and backstabbing that goes on in this book until it hits you! A certain someone gets everything that karma had been holding back for him, in one glorious book. As we learned in the last book wearing the crown comes with a price. See how the power of love transformers a group of people who need healing after the destruction. Here is my favorite quote from this book: “when you hit the point of no return… when everything you are is stripped away, the view suddenly becomes clearer.”
So. Many. Emotions…
Rose and Ashton had to fight HARD to win their HEA – it wasn’t easy, it wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t without sacrifice.
There were mistakes made, lies told, truths revealed and hearts broken.
Yet, somehow, Rose and Ash – despite the odds – resurrected their relationship and came out stronger than before.
“Rose, you’ve got to go home soon.” Rising up, her hands on the top button of my jeans, her smile grows wicked, alluring, and damn, if I didn’t already love her, I’d have fallen in love again in that moment. “Haven’t you worked it out yet, Ash? You are my home.”
Le sigh so sweet.
I would love to see an epilogue for them or even a novella for Gray, as much as he rubbed me the wrong way – I eventually grew to love the black hearted playboy.
Let me start with this… damn I want to be the meat between an Ash and Gray sandwich! Grayson also happens to be my favorite character in this world! The dark prince! This is an epic conclusion to Rose taking the crown of Albany. So much plotting and pain. Heavy is the head who wears the crown… until the crown fits the way it was also meant too.
I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
Another awesome book from this author. This is the second and final book in the new ‘Albany Nightingale Duet’. I so wasn’t ready for this duet to end and I still want more. You must read book one first.
This book starts where the first one ended. I was on the end of my seat for different parts of this book. I highly recommend this book/duet.
I received an advance copy of this book. I am voluntarily giving my honest review, and I plan to buy this book when it becomes available.
