PennyI gave up looking for love a long time ago, when I decided that no man would ever measure up to my family’s expectations.Instead, I focus on my dogs—at least they’re easier to understand and loyal to a fault. When Johnny Mitchell, a divorced cop, walks into Penny’s Pups looking for help training the dog he got for his son, I rule him out immediately in spite of his smoking hot body and sexy … of his smoking hot body and sexy dad vibe.
Too bad the heart doesn’t obey as well as the dogs do.
Johnny
My life was flipped upside down when my wife left me alone with our son five years ago.
We adopt a puppy in an effort to heal and distract ourselves, only to find that apprehending criminals is easier than training a stubborn canine.
Luckily for us, Penny Perez is on the job and hopefully soon to be in my arms.
Sometimes even cops need to be rescued.

Penny owns and operates an animal rescue place. When Johnny gets a dog for his son he seeks her out to help train it. This quick and lovely read gives us all the feels. Penny is a strong woman with the love and support of her family and Johnny is a strong single dad trying to navigate his new normal and bond with his son. Well done.
Johnny got a dog after his divorce because of his therapist’s recommendation to help him and his son getting a better relationship. And he needs help because Kylo, the dog is untrained.
The story is nice but there is one thing I don’t like and that is the words in Spanish. It is ok if they are used for a couple that is in love but just to write a word in another language randomly and not necessary at all. No, I don’t see it. I’m sorry maybe it is me just being fussy. I loved this story. The characters were well developed and easy to relate to. Nate was super sweet. This story has lots of feels.
Penny is really sweet and runs an animal rescue called Penny’s Pups. She has given up on finding love. Penny focuses on her dogs they’re easier to understand and loyal to a fault. She meets Johnny Mitchell, a divorced cop, that is looking for help training the dog he got for his son. Penny figures that he wouldn’t be interested in her with his smoking hot body and sexy dad vibe.
Johnny is a cop with a teenage son named Nate. Their life was flipped upside down when his wife left them five years ago. Johnny adopted a puppy in an effort to heal and distract themselves. Their puppy Kylo Ren desperately needs training and Johnny was told that maybe Penny Perez could help them. Johnny is attracted to Penny. He is wary because of what happened with his wife, but Penny is different. Hopefully, Penny will rescue him and his son, soon.
I loved the way Penny’s family interacted with Johnny and Nate. Penny, Johnny, and Nate were so sweet when they were working with Kylo Ren. I loved Howie and how he helped Penny Their happy ever after made me so happy. I definitely recommend reading this book.

I enjoyed this sweet quick story. The only downside was that it was to short and that is the only reason I didn’t rate it a 5. The character were all so lovable including the four legged ones. Penny was my favorite because I haven’t read many books with strong independent minorities as the heroine. Well done CL Cruz. CL Cruz is a new author for me and I’m glad I was introduced to her work. Her next book I’m reading is Fat Chance. Until next time y’all happy reading.

A cute short story about Johnny a cop and single dad and Penny, a dog rescue worker. These two make a lovely loveable couple who you can not help but like. The author does a wonderful job of writing an easy read book that is not rushed at all, but still with all the attributes a great story has. Really enjoying this series.
