Meet Braxton Smith in this enemies to lovers romance.Dating the hot athlete? Yeah, been there. Done that…Braxton Smith.Cessna University’s baseball captain.Naturally talented.Sinfully gorgeous. And exudes enough arrogance to fill a stadium. That same cocky attitude is what landed him in my anonymous gossip column. Believe me, I, Cara Gonzalez, don’t want anything to do with him.But he’s … cocky attitude is what landed him in my anonymous gossip column.
Believe me, I, Cara Gonzalez, don’t want anything to do with him.
But he’s everywhere.
In my class.
In my dorm.
In my mind.
I left this type of drama back home.
Transferring to Cessna University is my chance for a redo.
And regardless of his rock-hard abs and panty-dropping smile,
Arguing with an athlete isn’t one of my goals.
My instincts betray me, though.
This attraction feels different.
Stronger.
I have no choice but to stand my ground.
Because this time, I’m afraid I’ll not only be hurt.
I’ll end up gutted.

The more the story progressed the more I liked the characters and got sucked into their world. Sarah Puckett and Chris Brinkley do a fantastic job bringing all the characters to life. I love the way they add so much to the story. The things that happened made me chuckle at times, and then at others I just wanted to grab the two of them and smack their heads together, lol. Really enjoyable listen.
This was my first Kimberly Readnour’s book, but won’t be my last. This is the first book and a great introduction to the Cessna U Wildcarts Series, a sweet College Sports Romance. Braxton is a handsome and sexy baseball player, but after a bad experience, he has some trust issues. Cara is beautiful, and independent. She has some prejudices against athletes. They share an undeniable attraction, but they have a complicated relationship, exacerbated by a lack of communication. The storyline is filled with secrets, angst, gossips, lies, and twists and turns. The secondary characters are great and intriguing. Miller, the dog, is a sweet addition to the story. Sarah Puckett and Chris Brinkley did a good job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Behind the Count, Noah and Shannon’s story. #AudiobookObsessionVIPreviewer
Great book.
Cara transfers to Cessna University for a new start. A do over. Her first assignment at the school news is for the gossip column and she has to find something juicey. While looking for the story she sees the Modern babe ruth, Braxton Smith with 2 different ladies in the same night. This was a great read. Cara and Braxton have great chemistry and the story kept me entertained.
I am hooked on this Cessna U Wildcats series. Braxton Smith is God’s gift to women. He is a cocky baseball player and knows his talent on and off the field. The problem is he needs to stay focus if he expects to be drafted. He is also under a lot of pressure from his dad. Cara Gonzales is new to Cessna University. She has her own issues with what comes of being known and famous. She will do everything to make sure she does not fall for another athlete. What she does not expect is when your heart wants a certain baseball player, there is not anything she can do about it.
Loved their chemistry, their banter and their fight to get what they want. I love the friends Braxton surrounds himself with and cannot wait to read more about them. I encourage you to start this series now.
Swinging Strike
Cessna U Wildcats, Book One
By: Kimberly Readnour
Narrated by: Sarah Puckett, Chris Brinkley
Kimberly Readnour knows how to write a book that catches my interest and keeps me engaged. Braxton is the star of his college baseball team, and can be with any girl he wants. But Kara, the one he has taken an interest in gives him the cold shoulder. Does this deter the man? Not in the least. He will do what it takes to win her. Kara has her reasons for staying away from Braxton, but the pull may be too hard. Will these two get together and find their happily ever after? It’s not only a romance, but has some meat to it. There are family matters, problems of the heart, trust issues and life decisions to be made. While the perfect escape, the characters dealt with their lives in a realistic way which makes the book that much better. Readnour had me from the first chapter, and I can’t wait to see what the Cessna U Wildcats have in store for us next.
Sarah Puckett and Chris Brinkley bring this gem to life. Sarah is a consummate professional and she finds the perfect voicing for her characters. For Kara, she found that balance of crazy emotions and coolness. It was my first Chris Brinkley listen, and I enjoyed his voice. He has a good sound for the age bracket, and gave Braxton just enough attitude not to go overboard. I enjoyed this team and their performance.

A college romance with sports, a gossip column and a hard to get rid of ex…. what more could you ask for? This book has a perfect blend of everything and some really great narration to bring it to life. Definitely a must read to a beginning of a new series.
I really enjoyed this book! It was fast paced and flowed nicely. The turn of events were done beautifully and the ending was terrific!

Braxton and Caras story is one of misunderstandings and bad timing.
Cara was hired to get gossip on people at the university. What she chose to report on was never quite right.
Braxton was a baseball player who had a promising career to look forward to.
Like all good sports stories the girl has the chance to get in the way but she ends up making him better.
I loved that through this book we are set up for future books and future couples. Couples who have the potential to have amazing books written about them.
I haven’t read much by this author but I sure do enjoy her writing.
An enemies to Lovers baseball themed read. A new to me author this book was a fun read, captured my interest right away and kept me entertained. I will be grabbing more from this author.
Great entertaining story. Cara is a new student to Cessna University. Heart broken from her relationship with her cheating baseball playing ex, she has sworn off athletes. Assigned to write a gossip column for the school newspaper she writes about the star baseball player Braxton being a player on and off the field. Then they run into each other and there is an instant attraction. It was quite entertaining to watch as Braxton tries to read down Cara’s wall and Cara try to fight her attraction. Great story with wonderful characters.
I won an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
Braxton seems like a know it all jock in the beginning and doesn’t think anyone can ever say no to him until, he encounters Cara. This book contained lots of heartbreaking realizations that both Cara and Braxton had to face in order to overcome their obstacles. It was a great story of true love finding its way back to each other. Great read overall!
Must read!!! I could not put this book down!! Cara and Braxton are Destined to be together.. if you love stories with baseball, hit guys, sassy smart girls, this is the book for you! Cannot wait for the series to continue!
Eh!
I was hoping for more. There was a lot of unnecessary drama. It dragged on and on. I didn’t find any real meat to their love or relationship. Then when they finally both gave in it all blew up and ended in a flash. It was weird.
Also I was so unsettled by Cara’s very high self reflection. We aren’t really told about her looks, yet there were times she was over the top very high on her looks. It just didn’t fit.
Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, hot and steamy, lust and passion, strength, happiness with a happily ever after. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed.

4.5 stars
This was an enjoyable read with strong characters. Cara and Braxton were a good couple together despite all the secrets and family members that were working against them and their relationship. Lies, angst, push and pull, misunderstanding, drama and finally happiness are the reasons that you will like this book!! I am anxious to see what comes next in this series!!
I LOVE the enemy to lovers genre and this one does NOT disappoint!
The chemistry Braxton and Cara have is a no-brainer but neither have the time for distractions. And while Braxton is trying to figure out why Cara won’t give him the time of day most of the time Cara is busy trying to keep secrets of her own.
Add to that the little problem of having each other as lab partners for the semester, a group of friends from the same circles and Hannah (Braxtons sister also transfers in) and you have your typical college read. It’s a little bit more than that but no spoilers here!
Cara had been burned in the past by a ball player. When her new professor gives her the assignment for the new sports gossip column she’s thrown in the of another baller. I love how she gave him a hard time. She pushed for herself. Right ration to drama and romance to keep it flowing
I did enjoy this book but both Braxton and Cara drove me crazy. They both needed a smack upside their head but in the end they got it right. I am now anxiously waiting for Dalton’s book.
