I hate Jasper Marshal. Hate is a visceral and terrible word, but it’s the right one. This guy is everything I’m not. Jock. Sports ball obsessed. Testosterone fueled. Jacked up. He’s also sexy as hell with a submissive side I discovered by accident. Definitely an accident. If you want to call him on his knees in my kitchen an accident. He pushes all my buttons good and bad. And to top it off, he’s … buttons good and bad.
And to top it off, he’s my best friend Sam’s brother.
I’d become really good at avoiding Jasper since high school, but then Sam asked us both to be the best men at his wedding. Now, not only do I have to work with him to plan a bachelor party in vegas, we need to survive a destination wedding…in Hawaii.
It’s hard enough to be civil so we don’t ruin the wedding, but on top of that, I have to resist the urge to drag Jasper into every back room I can find and show him how much I hate him, all while trying not to get into a fist fight.
One of us isn’t going to survive this, so may the best man win.
May the Best Man Win is an enemies to lovers romance with the promise of pineapple bushes, tit-glitter (whatever that means), and one definitely unfixable bed.

This was one of the best enemies-to-lovers books I’ve ever read. To top it off, it also also had a nerd/jock component which is totally my jam! Lincoln and Jasper have hated each other since high school, when Jasper stole Lincoln’s “girlfriend” away from him. Since Jasper’s brother is Lincoln’s best friend, they’ve had to endure each other over the years, but now with Jasper’s brother getting married, they have to be co best men and are forced to try to get along. Not an easy thing to do when all you want to do is throttle the other person. As the barbs fly and tensions rise, the line between hate and lust gets a little blurry. There’s more than one way to shut someone up! 😉 I loved the way Lincoln is this nerdy teacher/gamer but has this filthy dominant streak that brings Jasper, who is a total jock to his literal knees! Talk about swoon worthy material! Hate sex is seriously HOT in this book! The characters were absolutely brilliant and were so much fun to get to know.
A good enemies to friends book. Lincoln and Jasper have hated each other since HS, before they even came out. Being thrown together cause Lincoln’s best friend Erica is marrying Jasper’s brother is bad enough, but now they are going to share best man honors. The wit and barbs between them, not only causes aggravation between them, but also sparks. Will they be able to put there feelings aside till the wedding is over??? Their attraction grows as the fighting continues…and eventually comes to a head, literally, with angry hate sex…. their underlying feelings can’t be contained, but neither can their anger towards each other or their animal lust. Each time we think they are going to somehow make something out of it, one of the two is a dick and screws it up. Vowing to make a truce till after the wedding was good in theory. I was so glad when things started coming together, only for it to fall apart again… I have to admit I was getting quite aggravated myself… but wasn’t that the authors point??? Hung in there till the end and it was worth it for them and me, lol.
Good book if you’re into dom/sub content.
Now this story was a little more lighthearted and fun in comparison to the other books by JR Gray I have read recently! It still had some angst and keeping it real moments.
It’s a story of how emotions control so much of how we react and act with people. It wanting to be attracted to someone can make you fight it all the harder and then when you do give in it confuses you.
This story has all that and then add in family and friends and it gives it the edge it needs!
Everything was great about this book!
Very enjoyable story
If you love the enemies to lovers trope, snap up this read my JR Gray and Kate Hawthorne. Funny banter, lots of hate sex, a bit of kink and did I mention stripper glitter? Enjoyable read!
I love to hate you
Oh my glitter, this book had me alternating between rolling with laughter at everyone’s antics, especially Lincoln’s and Jasper’s, and burning up from the intensity of the do-me-now hate vibes between them. I will admit at times I wanted to bop them on their heads or maybe just throw some pineapple at them. Lincoln has a way with words He’s a little evil and a lot sexy. Jasper, I adore. I want to take him home and keep him forever. “I get lost with you.” Oh these two and my heart, they squeezed and squished it so beautifully. So many feels in and I absolutely loved everything about this amazing book.
Lincoln and Jasper had hated each other for years. Lincoln’s best friend Sam was Jasper’s brother, and when they were both asked to be best men at Sam’s wedding, things came to a head. The sparks flew, insults were flung, and some hot and sexy moments were had.
I’m very conflicted about this story. There were moments when I loved Lincoln and Jasper, though not usually at the same time. I tended to side with one of them in every argument, which left me annoyed with the other one. I hated when everyone in their circle jumped in with their opinions of the relationship, but I also never felt one hundred percent sure these two would stay together. I wanted them to, though! I really wanted Jasper and Lincoln to find the happiness they sought, and I hoped they were finding that with each other. Though there were moments that rubbed me the wrong way, I did like this story. I would love to revisit them a few years into their relationship, to see if they’ve continued to grow stronger together. And to see if they are still enjoying the rough and kinky times. I hope so!
May the Best Man Win by Kate Hawthorne and JR Gray is a contemporary m/m romance with an enemies to lovers and best friend’s brother theme. There is a little kinky aspect here, a little dominating/submitting coming into play. The story is definitely a fun read with lots of humor and steam.
Jasper and Lincoln are great characters that I really loved getting to read about. The Jock and the Gamer… that supposedly opposites attraction. Their story has a little bit angst but also a little bit sweetness and a whole lot of chemistry. I loved it.
