In New York Times bestseller Allison Brennan’s Cold as Ice, FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid must get into the head of a psychopath to save her family, and herself Two years ago, FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid put psychopath Elise Hansen Hunt in juvenile detention for her role in an organized crime syndicate. Now eighteen, Elise has been released with a clean slate, and plans to take her revenge by making Lucy’s … take her revenge by making Lucy’s life hell. The plot begins with Lucy’s husband Sean Rogan, who has been arrested for a murder he most certainly did not commit.
Lucy is determined to prove Sean’s innocence, but is warned off the case by her boss. As she calls in reinforcements, she learns that Sean’s brother Kane is missing in Mexico, her partner Nate Dunning has been arrested for possession of cocaine, and her friend Brad Donnelly has been kidnapped outside DEA headquarters. Lucy realizes that Elise doesn’t have the resources or patience to execute such a devious plan. Did Elise’s father orchestrate everything from prison? Or is there someone even more calculating seeking revenge on Lucy by hurting the people she loves?
One thing is certain: if Lucy doesn’t find the answers fast, Sean will die.

Cold as Ice is Allison Brennan at the top of her game. And also Lucy Kincaid. A roller coaster thrill ride that doesn’t let up until the last page is turned. When one of their own is in deadly danger, it takes Lucy’s family, Sean’s family, and all of their friends to follow the clues, hunt down the bad guys, and save the day. In other words, Lucy and Sean’s daily life. I was worried for awhile, but I knew Brennan would make all right in their world. At least, until the next adventure. Can’t wait!!!
This was a high-octane Lucy Kincaid thriller with the whole family involved in rushing to Sean’s aid when he is arrested for murder. The cast of characters is wide and varied, but most are those whom fans of Lucy have met previously, including the villainous Elise Hunt and her father Jimmy. The plot is a complicated one, a spider web of a plot to take Sean down and completely destroy him. I loved how all of the little details came together to make one fabulous puzzle! Mostly, I loved being able to read a story about Lucy and Sean again and look forward to more from this author. The characterization was beyond perfection, with little glimpses of how they are thinking and what is going to happen next based on their decisions. And the plot was totally enticing from beginning to end! Fans of Lucy Kincaid and thrillers in general will want to buckle up to read this one! Loved it!

I purchased a copy of this book from AMZ. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own.
This is one of the best Lucy Kinkaid book yet! Nail-biting and exciting, kept me wondering until the very end. Highly recommend!
OMG!!!
“To have a loved one stolen from you for no reason except another human being’s sick needs, it tears you up inside. Especially when it’s your child. It twists your heart. The grief. The anger. You can’t breathe … you can barely think of anything but your child … even though you don’t want to.
That you weren’t there. That you couldn’t save her.”
This is the most nerve wracking edge of your seat thrilling ride I’ve been on all year. I’m so invested in these characters after 17 + books.
Lucy and Sean are my favorites and they are put through the wringer. I’m almost afraid of how this will effect them in the future.
The bad guys in this story are off the charts crazy.
This is a must read for time fans or new!!
I did not want to put this book down. I had not read a Lucy Kincaid book in a long time and am sorry that I gave missed many in the series. This was a wonderful story of suspense and intrigue. I also love how the love shines through between Lucy and Sean. I also loved that they brought in storylines that included most of Lucy’s and Sean’s families. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I received a copy of this book from Minotaur Books and Netgalley for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
This is an intense, entertaining, well-written, fast paced romantic suspense novel. It has intrigue, mystery, twists and turns, and is another excellent entry in Ms. Brennans’s outstanding Lucy Kincaid series. It can easily be read and enjoyed as a stand alone, but it is even better when read in order, as characters from previous novels make appearances in this novel. This is a real treat for those of us who have read all of Ms. Brennan’s Lucy Kincaid novels and novellas. Ms. Brennan never disappoints her readers!
Cold as Ice is the 17th book of Allison Brennan’s fan favorite Lucy Kincaid series. This is the first book in the series that I’ve read. I know you’re telling yourself that can’t be right…no one starts a series on the 17th book! But that is exactly what I did. I never claimed to be normal. At first I was confused as to how all these characters were related to one another; should I make a flowchart? I continued to read. What about all these past circumstances they were discussing? But onward I went. And then I began to not care about any of that. I got so caught up in this exciting story that all of that baggage fell away. I’d worry about past books later; this was fun! How have I not read any of the series before this book?!
I’ll make this synopsis a quick one. Two years ago, FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid put psychopath Elise Hansen Hunt into juvenile detention. She’s out now and has it in for Lucy. First Lucy’s husband Sean is arrested for a murder he did not commit. Then Sean’s brother Kane is missing in Mexico, followed by Lucy’s partner Nate being set up for possession of cocaine and her friend Brad being kidnapped. What is going on? No way could Elise have planned and carried out all this by herself. Was her criminal father behind it all from jail, or was it even a more nefarious plot than anyone could have imagined?
This book seriously started out with a bang and never let up. Though I wasn’t acquainted with the characters’ histories, they were well fleshed out and I was able to get a sense about each character. Even though they were not all related, they were a real family in the truest sense of the word. All the different tangents of the story seemed a bit widespread, but they coalesced into a magnificent end game. My favorite bits of the story dealt with Sean wondering if he’d ever see his beloved family again and Brad’s treatment at the hands of nutjob Elise. All in all, a truly exciting thriller. And I’m happy in the knowledge I have 16 more books to read about the previous adventures of Lucy and the gang!
I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. I received no compensation for my review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Once again Allison Brennan has delivered an incredible thriller with Cold as Ice. I could not put it down. I loved every page. I love the relationship between Lucy and Sean and all the descriptions of locations in Texas and Mexico. Cold as Ice includes all the plot twists and turns, and the occasional bittersweet moment that I have come to expect and enjoy in Allison Brennan’s incredible stories. Cold as Ice is the seventeenth story in the Lucy Kincaid series and I think that it might be my favorite story in the series. Lucy Kincaid is an FBI agent in San Antonio, and Sean is her husband, who is a jack of all trades, from private investigator to security consultant. There is a lot of action in this story and it begins on the first page and does not let up until the end of the story. Elise Hansen has turned eighteen and has been released from the juvenile detention center with a clean slate. Elise and her father, Jimmy Hunt are out for revenge against anyone who played a r0le in the deaths of Nicolle Rollins, and Tobias Hunt and the loss their money. The story starts with the disappearance of Kane Rogan in Mexico after rescuing missing girls and he goes in search of Peter Blair, who is behind the trafficking. This is followed by death of Mona Hill in Houston, which leads to the arrest of Sean Rogan for her murder. Then FBI agent, Nate Dunning is arrested when cocaine is discovered in his trunk of his car parked at the courthouse and he is detained. Then DEA agent, Brian Donnelly is kidnapped. Nate and DEA agent, Aggie Jensen work together to uncover the source of the cocaine that was found in Nate’s car. The team knows that Elise and her father know are behind the events, but they have no way to prove it and no one in the police departments will believe them. I love the surprise plot twist, about who was funding the revenge plot. I love how Allison Brennan kept me guessing who was behind the plan. I was on the edge of my seat, hoping that everything would be resolved and Sean and Brian would be rescued. Truly a surprise to discover who funded the Hunts mission. Cold as Ice had me guessing as to who was the mastermind behind all the events and illegal activities throughout the story. I love how Allison Brennan always writes about strong women: Lucy, Aggie, and all the other FBI agents. They are amazing women. I loved Lucy’s strength in dealing with Sean’s arrest and kidnapping and Sean’s vulnerability when he is discovered. Once again, Allison Brennan proves that she is a master storyteller and that is why I love her books. All her books are always a must read for me. My favorite part of Cold as Ice is how all the Rogan and Kincaids work together to solve all the events of the revenge plot put into action by the Hunts. I absolutely loved Cold as Ice. It was an incredible story.
Oh boy, I am a huge Allison Brennan fan and even bigger Lucy Kincaid fan. This book is part of a series but stands entirely alone. Cold as Ice is a complex story. There are a lot of characters with intertwining storylines, yet it was easy to follow and intriguing to read. I knew that Lucy would be able to prove Sean, her husband, innocent but I also knew it would not be easy. I loved seeing Lucy and Sean’s friends come to support them even though they knew that by doing so it would be putting them in dangers path.
Cold as Ice is a thriller of a book that brought back many characters from Allison Kincaid’s past books. The suspense kept me holding my breathe until I reached the end. I had so much hope in how the story would turn out and was not disappointed in the twists and turns the story took. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading.
Lucy Kincaid made a big mistake when she was a teenager. This mistake has affected her in many ways: career, with her her family, with the love of her life Sean Rogan. That mistake is rearing its ugly head in an oblique way once again. Lucy is very happy with Sean and his son Jesse. Things have been quiet. Then the dam bursts. Sean has been arrested for murder and many other close friends and family are put in positions where they can’t help her prove Sean’s innocence. Or have they been? Lucy knows Sean is innocent and has been framed but it going to be very difficult to prove it. The Rogan family business RCK steps up to provide the best lawyers and investigators. Lucy appreciates this but knows it is not going to be enough. Rogans and Kincaids race to the rescue. Many of them are either in law enforcement or have investigative jobs. This time it is going to take a major group effort to save the day.
Meanwhile Sean Rogan is not doing well as a prisoner. He has enemies in jail who mean him harm. He does not do well in confined spaces. This is not helping him think straight. Sean knows he didn’t kill Mona Hill but the frame job is very good. When Sean is taken from his cell to be transferred to Beaumont Prison his fear factor is raised exponentially. Something is wrong, very wrong! He had been assured that he would remain in the Houston administrative jail until his arraignment. Someone is manipulating the system and that could result in his death. There’s gotta be a way to escape. If only he could think straight.
Cold As Ice by Allison Brennan is Book #17 in her Lucy Kincaid series. Every Lucy Kincaid story written by Ms. Brennan is a thrill ride. This story is one for sure. Lucy and Sean have faced so many dangers together. This situation is really devastating to endure. I love how Lucy and Sean believe in each other and have determined attitudes to endure and succeed. As for Kane Rogan – wow! He always manages to amaze me in these stories and always manages to land on his feet. How Nate Dunning and Brad Donnelly contribute is fascinating. Both the Rogan and Kincaid families are always so supportive. Lucy and Sean are lucky to have such helpful and loving families and friends.
Good thing I set up my day so I could read this book in one sitting. I would never have been able to put it down for long. Allison Brennan writes suspense stories that get your heart beat up and your mind thinking and guessing just as fast.
One of my friends has recommended Allison Brennan books to me for years, and when this one came up for review, I was thrilled to get it!
Have you ever been the new person at a family reunion, where everyone knows everyone (and their backstories) so well that they can talk in a shortened type of code? That’s how I felt coming into this series so late. There are a lot of characters here to keep track of. People who joined the family years ago came to know them one by one and get to know them along with everyone else. That would be so much easier!!
It was a bad choice to jump into this well established series. But I like Brennan’s writing style and Lucy Kincaid as a protagonist and I want to get to know them both better. I rate this 3.5 stars, but I’ll be going back to the series beginning, and come up the way the rest of you did. I can tell this series has a lot going for it. I need to catch up!!!
My thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for allowing me to read a review copy of the book. Publication is expected to be 10/27/20. All opinions expressed here are my own.
