He’s loved her forever. She still sees him as the neighbor kid. Can five desperate kittens bring them together? Marley is a baker at the new Furrever Friends Cat Café, which is still trying to find its footing. Her nine-year-old son, Brian, desperately wants a kitten, but they can’t have pets where they live. Who has the time to date? Just as well that she’s protected her heart since the father … since the father of her child disappeared.
Adam has loved Marley since he was 13, and she was his best friend’s free-spirited older sister. Back then, he fantasized about rescuing her from bandits or dragons. Now he’s 24, and the five-year age gap isn’t so serious. He wants nothing more than to become a family with Marley and her son. But will she ever see him as a man?
When someone leaves a box of week-old kittens at the café, Adam jumps at the chance to be a hero. But herding kittens might be tougher than fighting dragons, especially when two of them fail to thrive. Can Adam, Marley, and Brian save the kittens and find a future together?
The Furrever Friends Sweet Romance series features the workers and customers at a small-town cat café, and the adorable cats and kittens looking for their forever homes. Each book is a complete story with a happy ending for one couple (and maybe more than one rescued cat). These sweet romances will leave you with the warm, fuzzy feeling of cuddling a purring cat.
If you enjoy tropes such as best friend’s sibling / sibling’s best friend, friends to lovers, first love, unrequited love, and older women with younger men, check out Kittens and Kisses at the Cat Café. You’ll also find rescue cats with plenty of personality and their own ideas about what love is.

As someone who has always loved cats and kittens, I was drawn to this book the moment I saw it. Single mother, Marley, is a baker at a cat café—a coffee shop/eatery/bakery that also has a set-up allowing patrons to mingle with cats which are awaiting adoption (real cat cafes exist in a number of cities though I have never had the good fortune to visit one).
One morning, someone leaves a box with five, week-old kittens on the doorstep. Adam, who has carried a flame for Marley since his tween years, when he knew her as the older sister of his best friend, volunteers to take the kittens to the vet. When all is said and done, Adam becomes their caregiver. He recruits Marley, her nine-year-old son, Brian, and other friends to help him in nurturing the kittens. In the process, Adam finds opportunities to reveal his feelings to Marley, and she begins to see him in a new light.
Naturally, there are complications, as the path to true love is never smooth, but the reader knows an HEA awaits at the end. This is a sweet romance in which the kittens have almost as much page time as the characters. There are several secondary threads, involving a restaurant reviewer, a singing contest, and Adam’s passion for writing. The way in which Marley finally reveals her feelings to Adam is flirty and clever, guaranteed to leave the reader with a smile.
This is the second book in a series in which characters cross over, but each story is complete. I had no problem being grounded in this book despite not having read the first book. After finishing it, I immediately bought three more. I could do no less as someone who loves books and cats—a match made in Heaven!
**spoiler alert** I loved that Marley didn’t feel like her dream to be a singer was squelched by her son and realized that she didn’t want to be a singer anymore.
She loved her life just the way it was! I liked that this book portrayed being happy where you are and the fact that dreams change. She loved her job at the bakery and being a mum. I thought that was so sweet.
I received a free copy via Story Origin and am leaving an honest review.
Adam has had a crush on his best friend’s older sister for years. But Marley sees him as a kid even though he’s very responsible with a good job and recently bought a house. Her son Brian likes Adam and they really bond over the week old kittens dumped at the cafe that Adam is tasked with caring for. I didn’t realize how much round the clock care there is when there’s no mama cat around. Marley is afraid that Brian will be hurt when two of the kittens aren’t doing well and eventually they all are old enough to be rehomed. She seems to live with quite a few fears like what will happen if she’s successful with music and pushing Adam away when he gets close romantically. I love the idea of a cafe where you can play with rescue cats. It’s a great way to spend time with one if you can’t have your own. Although it would turn off anyone who is allergic.
Great story. I really enjoyed reading Adam and Marley’s romance. They are both well written characters along with all the other family at The Cat Cafe. This is a great series that holds your interest. I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
I really loved this book from the very beginning to the very end.
I loved the story line and I am a lover of cats and at one time I had 4 and the story just made sense in my opinion.
The characters both human and cats made the story pop in my opinion.
I got this book for free with a honest review given freely.
