Living in the town where his life changed, Dax can’t help but wonder if he’s passed the man who brought him back to life. He doesn’t know what that incident cost the med student who stopped to help a dying man. Now, it’s Dax’s turn to repay the favor, even if neither of them realize it.Never Too Late was … it.

Hmmm … if I could, I would give this 3.5 Stars. It started off well but then began to drag. As the story unfolds, there’s too much drama with Michael’s late wife’s inlaws and Dax evolves into such a bland character. Michael, on the other hand, is a mess and he stays a mess. The ending was predictable but I did finish the book.
This is a must read!
Man getting to know all of these guys and how they are and become connected was my favorite part. Watching them become a family was beautiful and made what was already great even better. There are a few moments in here that show how one moment can change so much including perceptions and beliefs. For this reader it got me thinking and maybe it will you too.
This book gets off to a great start with an opening chapter that really grabbed me and set the stage for what was to come and for who Dax was. It also gave us a good peek into who Michael was and how he was floundering.
Unfortunately, after that opening salvo things really leveled back off into the commonplace for a book in this genre (first time gay/gay for you) and the story arc slowed down. We didn’t get a lot more character development for Dax though we did get to know Michael better. The story arc kind of just moseyed along and I kept hoping for more meat to the story.
The secondary characters played a strong role in the development of the storyline which is always important to me. The crisis moments built the tension well and the ending was well done with a nice cathartic feel to it.
It’s a solid 3 star in my rating system, OK with some big flaws but parts that are enjoyable. There were several proofreading errors and I think some better editing might have helped move the story along.
*I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my objective review *
I liked the premise of this story a lot, with seond chance trope being very well thought out and presented.
I had a hard time getting into it at the beginning and identifying with the MCs took a while, but by the end of it I really enjoyed it and really consider the book to be a good story.
When Dax decided to clean up his life years ago, he never quite forgot the voice of the man who rescued him back then. That that man is now in his life is something neither could have foreseen coming.
While sweet, I have to admit that this slow burn story didn’t quite work for me. I liked Dax, and loved that he figured himself out and became a teacher. Michael, on the other hand, did nothing for me and their relationship moved at an odd pace. Still, not a horrible story or anything, just not really to my taste.
I very much enjoyed this book. The story was interesting and well written. I loved the writing style and especially the dialogues. They were really natural. What I loved the most was the two main characters, Dax and Micheal. Their relationship evolved so naturally, it was truly beautiful to read. They had amazing chemistry and I just couldn’t get enough. The side characters were great too. I hope Matt and Justin will get a story too.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
