I love the retelling of how the parents met and feel in love to their daughter. It was nice that it focused on how hard sometimes it is to hold onto that love
Short, but oh so sweet! This is Ana and Eduardo’s story as it was told to their daughter. It was love at first sight but oh, the struggles they would have to endure! A wonderful, quick read!
Quick sweet read. I loved it.
I very much enjoyed this short story about Ana and Eduardo from Brazil. This is a prequel to a new series coming soon and I am looking forward to it. The author, Edith, has a nice way with words. The sentences are well crafted and paint a vivid picture for your mind to imagine. The story is told as a look back into the past as they tell their grown daughter, Gabi, about their love story. There is a bull- headed and manipulative mother, another man to contend with, and long spans of time apart. How do they overcome these obstacles? I recommend giving this free read a go. =^..^=
I loved it!!! I adored the love at first sight, the struggels, heartache and the joy. It proved that love does hold strong and can help you get through anything as long as it is done together no matter the challanges. I give 5 stars, because it reminds me that no matter what, love is still out there and it can overcome any challange. I recommend this book to everyone who wishes to read it. It is a wholesome romance that is sure to portray the feelings to others as it have for me.
Really good story. Ana and Eduardo live thru some hard times while out of their native country. Their love for each other gave them the strength to make it thru.
It’s a quaint little novella. I enjoyed it. A reminiscing story the mother tells her daughter about how her and her father met. They are Brazilians who came to American to ride the rodeo. She told of the troubles they had, but in the end, all they ever wanted to their love.
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. I really enjoyed this short story. A prequel to the series “Barrels & Hearts”. The sweet love story of Ana & Eduardo. They lived thru hard times outside of their native country but their love for each other only made them stronger. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
This prequel is a quick, short read that tells the love story of Eduardo and Ana, a young couple who fight for the right to choose their own soulmate, rather than succumb to the matchmaking tendencies of their elders. The story is told in a series of flashbacks as Ana shares her own sweet love story with her daughter Gabi. Set against the background of bull riding in Brazil and America, it also touches on how tEduardo and Ana confronted the social challenges of poverty and discrimination.
Overall, this is a promising start to the Barrels and Hearts series.
This is such a beautiful, heart warming story. I have thought this kind of stories did not exist anymore. Only heard these kinds of love stories from parents or grandparents. I guess I was wrong. Absolutely LOVED this story. Such a beautiful story, I cannot get it off my mind. It’s a rare love that you hardly ever hear about.
I got a free copy of the book and is voluntarily leaving a review.
This short sweet was a great way to start the Barrels and Hearts series. Told as a memory being passed from mother to daughter it reminded me of times when my family reminisced. Ana and Eduardo pass through mountains of challenges as they find their happily ever after. With family, strong prejudices, and poverty all set in their path- their love grows stronger than they could have dreamed and Eduardo finds his true paradise.
While this story lacks characterization and visualization, it does bring a sense of family and connection to the past. Edith Mackenzie makes this prequel fit the bill of a short novella setting up for something greater to come. It makes me look forward to reading the rest of the Barrels and Hearts series.
Overall, a good story. The attitudes of Ana’s mother and the way Antonio’s mother talked about Ana as if she were a broodmare was disgusting to say the least. Fortunately, the two older women are mostly a distraction to the real story of Ana and Eduardo. The prejudicial attitudes expressed throughout seemed very realistic. First with the city boys, then the mothers, and finally with Americans. There were a few encounters which provided an inspirational attitude.
