Ripped from her home when it’s attacked by raiders, Iris is given to a strange clan as the price for their warrior’s help. Desperate to protect her cousin and help what is left of her people, Iris makes a deal with the leader of her new clan. Interested in nothing more than the land that is now his, and the omega who can provide him an heir, Verik doesn’t care if what is left of her people don’t … left of her people don’t have the supplies to survive the winter.
Until she reminds him how necessary they are to his plans.
Verik’s Price is the third book in the Alpha Barbarians series. It is a non-shifter, omegaverse romance. It contains sexual situations and language that may make some readers uncomfortable.

Verik’s Price is the third of the Alpha Barbarians series where we learn what happens to the two omegas Verik claimed for helping Raider attack Lyric’s village. Iris and her cousin, Autumn (see book 4) are carried away, but like Raider before him, Verik is not content with forcing omegas to accept a mate; he wants Iris to see that he is as perfect for her as she is for him but he’s not above using coercion to prove it. Carefully built characters and relationships in a well-drawn environment. Good stuff with some hot action.
Another great book in this series. Verik claimed Iris as part of his payment for his men participating in a raid on her village. He told Iris that she would have to ask him to fully claim her but he did tell his people of the Andtay clan that she was his. The land Iris’s people were on were also part of the payment. Initially Verik had little concern for the people on that land but it took Iris’s common sense about her people having the know how to work that land. Verik’s respect for Iris grew as she made more intelligent suggestions about her people and land. Iris grew to support him more and more and, of course, fell in love. Great ending also.
Very sweet and hot sexy scenes that had me hot! Lol! If you haven’t read the other series before this book, it’s okay because each is their own story. The author does wonderful at setting the scene so nothing is missing. I recommend all three of the books!

This is book 3 in this Omegaverse series by Leann Ryans and things continue to heat up. This story focuses on Verik and Iris, Verik’s reward for helping Raider. The story picks up from just after the invasion of Shiloah, the village Iris is from, so reading at least the first book in the series is recommended before reading this one.
This story isn’t a particularly dark read. There are some spanking scenes; and a strong, controlling Alpha, but there is no Non-con and no triggers. There is also a HEA with only a cliffhanger in the overall story arch that has been happening since the beginning. The story has excitement, some danger, a lot of sexiness, wonderful characters and world building, and the hints of more to come. One of the things I love the most about this series is that it’s a great introduction for readers who haven’t read any Omegaverse stories. It’s more along the lines of a sci-fi romance with Omegaverse elements. If you are a lover of this trope then it’s a no-brainer as to how much you will love the story.
Iris is a really fun character and Omega. She isn’t as submissive as some and watching her stand up to Verik, even when nervous, is awesome. Verik is also a lot more than an Alpha. He listens and honestly cares about the people he leads. There relationship takes a different path than I was expecting and that sweetness was refreshing. There are a lot of kindle melting scenes thrown in among that sweetness and the mission Verik and Iris are on. I’m eagerly awaiting for the next story in this series, and I can’t wait to see who claims Autumn.
Although I didn’t read the previous books in this series, I didn’t miss anything or felt lost in any way (the author lets you know what’s happened before and it’s easy to catch on).
Iris and her cousin Autumn, both omegas, get captured when their village is raided, and they are given as a prize to the raiders’ allies. Verik is the Alpha of the clan that receives the omegas and he claims Iris for himself.
At first I didn’t care much for both MC, Iris was too stubborn (I hate stubborn heroines, not a nice treat) and Verik was an asshole. But there’s a clear transformation there, they start seeing each other more deeply; the alpha is shown as a caring leader of his people, not the brute he seems to be, and Iris changes her attitude because she is given a chance to choose.
There was a point where I started enjoying the story a lot (when they travel to Iris’s village to claim it as their own); the world here is primitive, the barbarians are conquerors, yes, but they’re no tyrants. There is where we can see Verik’s true character, what a wonderful alpha he is by not using force but patience and understanding toward the villagers.
Verik’s Price is perhaps a low burn, there’s not so much smut as in other omegaverse books; the sex is integrated in the story but it’s not the main ingredient (although it was still hot, with the customary knot and slick we enjoy in omegaverse).
I’d have liked a longer page count to have a deeper knowledge of this world and its characters, the ending came too quickly and there’s a light cliffhanger, but it was a solid read all the same, so I’ll be reading more from Leann Ryans.
This book is the 3rd in the series and I loved every bit of it.
This book is about Iris along with her cousin Autumm (both omegas) who were taken from their homes in the first book Raider’s Treasure, in which they become the two omegas Verik choices for his clan.
Verik ended up being like no Alpha I have read about before. He was nice and took his time with Iris letting her come to him. He also cares deeply for his people and it shows greatly in this story.
Iris was a smart, feisty omega just trying to look out for her family and helped Verik see certain things from a different perspective, which he needed to see before it was too late.
Cant wait to see what’s in store next for the Alpha Barbarians!!

Iris must find a way to ensure her cousin gets a choice of things, that she is not forced into an unwanted mating. Verik will do what he needs to do to get Iris to bend to his will willingly, even if that means using her cousin against her. He knows she wants him even if she fights it at every turn. Who will give in first in this tug-of-war?
WOW….I really enjoyed this book and the direction it has gone. I love the world building, how we get to see another side of this world and how the people made the most of their situation. This book also briefly touch on a situation that happened in the first book. I mean, the author didn’t have to do it but I am glad as it kind of solved that little mystery, of whether there was a betrayal or not. I am excited to read the next book, to find out what’s going to happen. Who will come out as the hero to that heroine.
i loved this book. as payment for services rendered Iris is not sure what is going to happen to her or what her future will be. but as an omega shes sure it wont be one of her choosing.
for an omegaverse book this was a sweet one. I loved how Verik gave Iris the time to get to know him and come to realize that he was hers as much as she was his.
there was great world building in this story with interesting characters, and an interesting story line, 1 you don’t see in many omegaverse stories. while i really love the dark ones. i find i am coming to love these sweet ones just as much. I cant wait to read the next story in this series. i hope it will be about Autumn.
I liked Verik a lot more then I thought I would. He seems like a not so great guy when you meet him in the first book in the series. But the author does a great job explaining why he is that way and also in changing my mind about Verik.
He ends up being a really great alpha and cares greatly for his people. You also get to find out what happened to the village that was attacked in the first book. I also loved Iris. She was super feisty and super smart. And she may be an Omega but she didn’t let it stop her from letting her opinion and beliefs known.
This talented author has created a unique omegaverse/barbarian world that grabs the reader’s attention within the first few pages & I enjoyed reading it. The plot is intriguing, well-thought out and written with some suspenseful situations and/or events. There are some character crossovers from the previous books but this book can be read as a standalone. The main characters are well-developed complex individuals & one of them is determinate to possess what he desires while the other one is going through the emotional turmoil of facing an uncertain future. There is good support from the secondary characters.
There is: a feisty female omega (Iris) & her cousin (Autumn) are taken captive by barbarian & the alpha leader of the barbarians (Verik) decides to claim Iris as his mate, Verik’s manipulative brother (Vargan), a second-in-command barbarian (Larok) with a unique taste in a omega, action, adventure, attacks, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, verbal confrontation, distrust, fear, emotional turmoil, defiance, threats, manipulations, ultimatums, distrust, regrets, compromises, strange attractions, disobedience, punishment, embarrassment, spankings, contentment, some steam & a happy ending
She was payment for services rendered.
This is a good story line. Verick’s “residence” is definitely different. The characters are not as strong as the previous books’ characters in this series, but they are still enjoyable with their quirks. Iris has a good head on her shoulders and she is smart. This story has friends, enemies, lovers and bad blood between brothers. I would recommend this book for everyone.
This novel was well written and edited, with few missing words or wrong word choices. I thoroughly enjoyed this romance. The world building was a vibrant character in itself, as usual with this author, but I enjoyed the hero of this novel much more than I did the hero of the second book in this series. The plot was better in this novel too, with the external and internal conflicts being more high stakes in this third book in the series than the second book in this series. The hero in this book immediately thought MINE! when he saw the heroine and claimed her right away, and a lot of the internal conflict of this story was that the hero had to convince the heroine that she should want to claim the hero as hers, too. This is one of my favorite tropes and internal angst setups for romance novels, so I was a very happy reader in that respect. There is nothing worse in a romance novel than a hero who is unwilling to go after what he really wants. The external stakes in this novel were really high too, with a potential rebellion by the heroine’s home village maybe costing even more people’s lives than had already been lost if the protagonists were not able to deescalate the situation. The heat level in this book was pretty low for a m/f omegaverse romance, with the only sexy scene happening about 90% into the novel. However, the sexy scene happened at the right time for this novel’s plot and the protagonists’ development of their romantic relationship. The plot and world building of this short romance rated four stars, and the internal angst, characterization, and development of the romantic relationship also rated four stars, for a combined score of four stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending, like the rest of this series, so that is a big plus for this novel. I highly recommend this novel to readers who enjoy m/f omegaverse romances and romances where the hero immediately declares MINE when he sees the heroine.
