Former cop Michael Hessop arrives in Red Cedar with a mission – track down a teen girl named Delaney Sparrow and the predator who convinced her to run away from her family. He finds out about Liz Lucas’ reputation for being an amazing amateur sleuth from the owner of Gertie’s Diner, and teams up with Liz and her dogs, Brandy Boy and Winston. The dead body of a young girl is found in the woods … found in the woods with a note saying the killer ‘will strike again.’ The killer makes an anonymous call, taunting that he’s got a girl tied up somewhere in Red Cedar, and if she’s not found in three days, he’ll kill her, too.
Is the murdered body Delaney Sparrow or is she the one who’s tied up? It’s a race against time for Liz, Michael, and the dogs.
This is the 12th book in the Liz Lucas Cozy Mystery Series by a US Today Bestselling Author and Amazon All-Star.

This book starts with the setting of 2 people getting rid of the body of someone they had murdered and everything they do so that there is no evidence left behind. Enter Michael a former police officer coming to town searching for a missing girl. A body of a young girl is found. Read on to see if how Michael and Liz can find the clues to nab the culprit. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and this is my honest review.
This one will have your head spinning as Liz gets involved with not just one-but two mysteries. A young woman is found murdered but who did it? Then Liz gets a visit from an ex police officer turned private Investigator. A different young girl has been kidnapped and he is trying to find her. Everyone except the Sheriff gets involved–he is too busy writing speeding tickets–until Liz and the PI come up with some viable murder suspects-and there are quite a few.
Be sure to read the recipes at the end-they will definitely have your mouth watering!!
This is the first book in a series, but I had no problem reading and enjoying the story – in other words you don’t need to read any of the previous books to understand and enjoy the book.
A girl is missing and a new private investigator has been asked to help locate her. A murder makes the investigation even more urgent. Liz Lucas joins up with Mike to quickly investigate the lay of the land and to come up with some potential suspects.
I listened to the audio version and while the narrator was OK, there was some strange emphasis on some words in sentences. It didn’t keep me from enjoying the story.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys murder mysteries without too many gruesome details. It’s sufficiently complex to keep your interest.
This review is for the audio book.
I enjoyed this fun light hearted cozy mystery. I like the way the author weaves clues into the story and has you guessing along with the main characters, because just as you think you know who it is, there is a twist that has you guessing all over again. The characters are like able, especially the lazy dog because everyone knows a dog just like that. The mystery was interesting and I liked it the way you were never sure if there was two cases or just one perpetrator at work, also I found the pi’s explanation about body language interesting. This is the second book in this series that I have listened to but it won’t be my last as I am enjoying the series.
A private eye comes to town and asks Liz to help him track down a missing girl. She has runaway from home with a much older man and her mum is worried about her. They haven’t been investigating long before a girl’s body is found. Is she the missing girl? Lucky for Liz she is soon identified and as they are questioning her brother a phone call comes in saying a girl’s life is on the line if she isn’t found. Using the private investigators understanding of body language can they find the missing girl before it is to late?
I liked the narrator she has a good range of voices, enough to keep the story in interesting.
