This is the first book in a new series & what a lovely starter it is. I was drawn in from the start & left with a huge smile on my face at the end. I loved both Alan & Caroline who both were dreading their impending marriages, I loved how he was so caring of her. They were attracted to each other but more importantly they liked each other & became fast friends. There was also a lovely chemistry between them. The road to their HEA wasn’t easy but it was entertaining, romantic & satisfying
My honest review is for a special copy I received from Booksprout & voluntarily read
I hate to give a book less than perfect reviews but this book was not what I expected. The story is about a young lady, Caroline, whose grandfather has arranged for her to marry a sea captain she has never met. On the way to her grandfather’s house in the mail coach along with several other people they get into an accident with a rider on a horse. The rider, Alan, The Earl of St. Clair, is on his way to his father’s house to meet his arranged bride. Caroline, severly injured, is the only survivor of the accident and Alan does surgery on her in the middle of a storm and buries all of the other passengers all with a fractured ankle. This is just the beginning of the bizarre occurances. There were too many contradictory situations for me. I just can’t recommend this book.

Sandra Sookoo is such a wonderful author and her stories come from the heart. I so enjoyed this first book in the Colors of Scandal series and makes me look forward to reading more of this series!!
Caroline and Alan meet in a most unusual way….he saves her life after a horrible accident and even though he’s badly injured himself, he takes care of her until she’s conscious again. Not knowing when they will be rescued, they find an old fishing cabin and a new way of life sets in while they heal. A friendship blossoms into passion but it all seems hopeless since they are both promised to someone else. My heart ached for them and the decisions they had to make.
I loved the ending and I couldn’t help smiling and grinning:) Well written and I definitely do recommend this book. I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
