How far do we go for love when worlds collide? Clare Harrison has always felt invisible to everyone other than her grandmother. While she has everything she wants in her career, something is missing: someone to love and a family of her own. Pete Fitzgerald has family. Too much. The Fitzgeralds are loud, intrusive and always trying to set him up with the daughters of family friends. As he … the daughters of family friends. As he completes his PhD and contemplates moving back to his hometown, he’s determined to meet ‘the one’ and hopes she can cope with his overbearing family.
When Clare and Pete meet, they are instantly drawn to one another. They want the same things in life, but as Pete’s family unwittingly intrudes on his relationship and Clare’s worries for her grandmother’s health mount, their worlds begin to seem further apart than either of them thought.
Can they juggle the needs of their families to give them everything they always wanted, or are there too many differences to overcome?

Another delightful read in the series. Fun, charming and enjoyable from beginning to end. Great characters that are easy to like. One of those stories you don’t want to end and wish it could go on forever.

The Things We Always Wanted is a sweet and charming story. Pete and Clare are such a cute couple and so lovable, i loved them.
Clare and Peter meet by chance and it truly seems like love at first sight. As with any good book, there is humor along with some suspense. The pair have overcome hurdles to find that each other’s arms is right where they belong. It was a truly heartwarming tale.

What a fresh lovely love story ! It is one that is hard to put down because you want to just go with the flow of mostly positive feelings. All too soon it ends, happily, but leaving you wanting more.

He’d never been sure why there was a mirror in their office. Most of his colleagues usually looked like they’d gotten dressed in the dark and had never seen a hairbrush before, but it was coming in handy to check he didn’t have anything between his teeth…
There was something a little ‘jumble sale’ about the whole office. Was that a sword crafted out of foam sticking out a milk crate? What on earth went on in this office?
It had been rather remarkable, but not long after Granny Fitzgerald passed away, Sharon had turned up at their house with a cat under her arm, swearing it was Granny Fitzgerald reincarnated. Or ‘reincatinated’ as their brother Luke had suggested. Despite Luke’s joking, oddly enough, the cat did look like his late grandmother. As much as a feline could look like a human, that was.
My Review:
This was a sweet and predictable novella that was chaste enough for my elderly mother’s Sunday School Book Club. The characters were likable and varied with a large family and open-ended storylines to set the stage for a new series.
This was a cute novella length Australian romance. Clare and Pete meet when she sets up a TV interview for him. They date for a few months, but their romance isn’t always smooth and misunderstanding shake their relationship up. I loved his actor roommate Ed and hope he finds his own girl in a future book.
Delightful clean romance of two somewhat offbeat characters that seem to hit it off. Both have quirky families and each has little idiosyncrasies that make for an engaging storyline for a short story. The main characters are more fleshed out than the minor ones, but you learn enough to want to know more. (No this is not a cliffhanger)
I found this book through a Bookfunnel promotion for clean romances and am glad I did! This is a voluntary review.
This is a short story if how Clare and Pete meet. Ckare is tasked with helping to interview Pete about a new drug fir the local news and sparks fly between the two of them. Soon they are both smitten and inseparable, but misunderstandings and hurt feelings leave them seperated and confused. Will Peter be able to fix his mistakes or will Clare keep the walls around her? This book was short and sweet with a little bit of angst.

The Things We Always Wanted, by Meghan Mayfair, is a part of the Cafe Chronicles Series. It is a delightful romantic fiction, with a sprinkling of humor. We are faced with the intriguing question – “Is love at first sight beyond the realm of science? While Clair has everything she desires in her career, something is missing in her life: someone to love and a family of her own. Clare and Peter’s meeting each other for the first time, happens in such an interesting and surprisingly pleasant sort of way. What was supposed to be a formal interview for ABC Television turns out to be the stepping stone to a lifetime of love and happiness. Peter likes Claire, with her wide bright eyes, soft sweet voice and warm, happy smile. Claire is taken up with with Peter’s spectacular smile, gorgeous laugh and impish grin. He is cheeky, mischievous and extremely endearing, Funny, relaxed and sensible, with a great sense of humor. A real natural. Peter is mesmerized by Clare. She is charming and unpretentious, the most beautiful and bravest girl, the perfect blend of smartness and caring. Clare is the most spirited little fighter Peter has ever met.
Peter makes Claire feel so special. She is excited about everything they can build together. Family, love and togetherness for life. All the things Claire has always wanted. In Peter, Claire knows she has found the perfect one to start her very own Home Sweet Home. I highly recommend this inspiring book to all who are ready to traipse the extra mile to achieve true happiness in love.
Short simple sweet romance set in and around a university in Australia.
The main characters are well written, both the main characters have good friends that we get to meet, but don’t really get to know.
