Can Collins and Quinn call a truce long enough to survive?Julien Collins was seeing things and dreaming things, and it was damned inconvenient. He didn’t have time to go crazy. His father’s legacy was at stake, and Psionic Enterprises was going to be split into a dozen pieces if he didn’t convince the board members that his company was worth saving. But things at Psionic weren’t what they seemed, … seemed, and the irregularities weren’t adding up. On the plus side, it made for a great excuse to hire Quinn Lehi to investigate. After three years of quasi-friendship, they’d honed arguing into a true art form. She was off-limits, but she was also as smart as she was sexy, and squaring off with her always put him in a better mood.Quinn’s hectic job as a UN agent kept her busy, but never busy enough to tamp out her inconvenient attraction to CEO billionaire Julien Collins. He was usually the biggest pain in her side, but he could also be charming when he wanted. He’s asked her to open a secret investigation into his company, and she worries that extra time alone with him might be more than she can handle. When the investigation leads to things no one can explain – no one on earth anyway – the two of them will fight to survive and discover a link between Psionic technology that is far beyond anything she’s ever dealt with before.

This is not what I expected at all. It was very clever and like another reviewer said it reminded me of those movies where the government enlists a group of teenagers who are the best of the best at Video games to fight aliens on another planet. Lol. I loved it. The beginning was slow which I understand b/c I know that the author is only setting up the story and the characters. Special agent Quinn Leh and CEO playboy Julian Collins are enemies. They don’t like each other and don’t trust each other although there is an attraction between them that is not to be denied. Julian takes over his father’s company business when his father dies. He has to convince his father’s partners that Julian is no longer a rich playboy. Quinn and Julian are called to an important company meeting. Julian sees Quinn at a meeting. They have a past as enemies that are still standing. Lol. Julian and Quinn learn in the meeting about a threat by aliens attacking on another planet. Quinn and Julian are needed to defeat these aliens based on their extraordinary skills in video games. This book was a fun read. Very exciting. It kept my interest all the way to the end. This is the first book I’ve read by these ladies and will not be my last. I will be reading books by these authors either together or separately. I definitely will Look to see if I can join their ARC books list. Lol. I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This story follows two main characters, Quinn Lehi who works as a Special Agent for UNID, and Julian Collins, who is a billionaire who acted like a toyboy after his parent’s death, but has now started to act more responsibly some three years later and taken over the mantle of his father’s company Psionics, a tech company. He has been looking after his nine year old sister Serah, although still making use of babysitting help as well, but he tries to be there for her all the time, unlike his father was for him. Collins asks Quinn to help him investigate a Special Operations part of his business, after its board member buries him under piles of paper records, when he asks to review their files, to find out why their division is losing money so quickly!
In recent days he has been getting daytime visions of things that are only from the Arcadian Fortress computer game he plays with some of his friends. He plays every night, as it is one of the things that helps him get to sleep, but now he wonders if he is losing his mind! Quinn is a bit worried about spending time so close to him, having had a thing for him for years, but disliking his playboy lifestyle. The two of them have a bickering, arguing relationship, each trying to wind up the other all the time. Hiding deeper feelings perhaps, from both sides. Clues start to be uncovered by Quinn’s forensic accounting, which link to some of the paperwork Collins has gone through so far. This somehow links his father’s company to what seem to be abandoned properties, with links to Helios Inc, the game inventors.
A trip with some of his close friends and also Quinn’s colleagues, is quickly organised to explore one of these sites after Quinn’s attempts to redirect satellites to view the site are somehow redirected, which should be impossible. There is something obviously being hidden at this site, but when they get there it isn’t easy to find, in what looks like a pretty empty warehouse. What they find is mind blowing and a conspiracy that could lead to the destruction of the world they live in, and leads them to the discovery of separate universe that man y of them know from their gaming time. Game playing and reality are beginning to meld. What comes next will surprise them all, but hopefully bring them closer together and make them all realise what is really important.
A great read, which is much more involved than the blurb gives you hope of and I don’t want to ruin anyone’s surprise, but it is well worth reading! I hope this is going to lead to a series, as I absolutely loved it and the characters. The world has already gone through enough problems and fighting, as this story starts, some time in the future. But there is so much more to discover and enjoy. I was completely lost in the world being portrayed and read the book straight through in one, even though the book is over three hundred pages long. I can’t wait for more! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Heir of Arcadia is a fantastic book. I enjoyed reading it a lot! It tells the story of Julian Collins, who now leads his father’s company, and Quinn, an agent at UNID. Something is not right at the company and together they must find out what it is. Julian also gets weird hallucinations from the video game he plays, Arcadian Fortress. The characters were very likable and the world building was great. The story kept me interested all the time and it was fast-paced. There were also many twists and turns and I loved that. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read science fiction with a bit of romance and mystery.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I read Heir of Arcadia, not knowing that it had a sci-fi feel to it, I DON’T LIKE THOSE, But, and here comes the big but. I thoroughly enjoyed Heir of Arcadia because of the characters, Collins and Quinn, and the secondary characters, Simon, Riya, West and Alex, and not to forget the AI Delcey. Even Flynn with his tacky, think his ass doesn’t stink, was written with such flair.
Deborah and Kimberly executed the plot beautifully and the planet…well, let’s say when I discovered that the planet was based on a game Collins and his friends played, I was intrigued.
It was also a beautifully written story, and these two ladies seriously have outdone themselves with sticking to the terms of space crafts object and even done an entire language for the Dracones. I salute you for that.
Okay, now to get seriously into the book. I have to admit. I’m a very, very picky reader. It’s hard to keep my attention, and the beginning of this book didn’t do it for me, but once Quinn Lehi made her appearance and the relationship/friendship with Collins got introduced, I couldn’t put the book down, even if the book had space in it.
Collins is such an intricated character, looking after his little sister when their parents died. But he is adorable with her, and you get that big brother vibe coming from him. Quinn is the woman figure in Serah’s life, Collin’s sister, and sort of a can’t have, for Collins. But it doesn’t mean that he isn’t trying, which makes their dialogue incredibly hilarious.
You can feel the sexual tension between these two characters, it drives you nuts, but in a good way.
Quinn, on the other hand, takes no crap from anyone, she is an agent with a superior force, and I laughed so much when she got to the planet, by mistake (I’ll wet myself) and a task to fixed object got assigned to her. The way she is fixing these object was done masterfully. I wish something like that could happen to me.
But without saying way too much. I love all these characters. I was taken on a journey, meeting the Arcadians, which my favorite was Mo, an old lady that is like a doctor. She was by far one of my favorite secondary characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The descriptions were vivid, the secondary characters felt real, the main characters were so three dimensional that it was hard to finally said goodbye to Quinn and Collins, but they certainly did entertain me for a few days. And let me just say, Finn so deserved that ending. I laughed out loud.
If you like the John Carter movie, you will love Heir of Arcadia and I hope they would turn this one into a movie as I would definitely watch it.
I recommend this to everyone. I’m not too fond of space types of books but loved Heir of Arcadia. Deborah and Kimberly are two authors we need to keep an eye out.
That was a page-turner!
Julian parent’s died three years ago. Since then a lot has changed. He takes care of his younger sister & tries to lead his father’s company, that’s about to be split. What he would like to do is play his game. As he starts to dig deeper into the company things don’t add up, he starts seeing things and that’s only the start!
Quinn is an agent and her work keeps her very busy. Still, she finds time for Julian’s sister and their strange kind of friendship. When he asks her to help, she jumps on board.
Not to give to much away, that was amazeballs! 🙂 Unexpected twists and turns, intensity building with each chapter… it’s seriously good. 🙂

What a curious tale of Sy-Fy and Romance. Have you ever wondered why teens and young adults play video games day in and day out? The concept in this story is not new but the author made you feel like you were reading something unique. After all, we have all those books and movies where the kids play video games and then the military pulls him in to fight a space war. It is a scary concept. But what if you spend your whole living a lie. I kept looking for Julian to wake up from a dream. Julian has spent most of his life playing a war game video game on an alien planet against alien warriors. In this story, Julian takes over his father’s company after the power outage and war. His father and mother had been killed. The board of directors are not happy, especially Cid. Cid ran the department of special projects with huge overruns and money losses. No explanation given so Julian demands the files. Cid gives him boxes and boxes of paper files. To help him get through all this, he asks an agent of U.N.I.D, a long-time friend, to help him. She just happens to be a great spy. Lots of complications in this relationship make the whole setup uneasy. Well, she helps him alright, right out to New Mexico with other friends in tow. What they find changes everything and almost takes their lives. This is totally a book of “I didn’t see that coming” moments. It also was an I cannot put it down book. The ending leads me to believe we may have a sequel. I personally would love that.
