Emily Finland, twenty-five, college graduate, hot mess, lover of all things cheese. Hasn’t had a date in a year. Yeah, that’s not something I would put in a dating profile. Ever. In fact, I can’t be bothered to date. There are so many awful guys out there. I much prefer to Netflix and chill with a pizza. But of course, my busybody best friend Charlotte was having none of that. She persuaded me to … to go on a blind date and even though I was reluctant, I decided to go. I never expected to meet a man like Liam Montgomery.
Liam Montgomery, forty, rich, cocky, wears a rolex, likes expensive whiskey, completely out of my league. He was not who I would have chosen to have gone on a blind date with. Just because he was gorgeous didn’t mean he would make a good boyfriend. Plus he was way too old for me. That didn’t stop me from flirting with him though. Or from spending one very long exciting night with him. I’m not going to tell anyone about that night. Ironically, it turned out that Liam hadn’t even been my intended date. Oops!
Unfortunately for me, hot mess Emily, the biggest shock of my life was still to come. For while Liam and I should never have been, he’s not about to leave my life quite that easily. You see I’m celebrating my dad’s retirement with my folks and Liam is also there. Only this time, he’s not alone.

About Last Night is the second in the Alpha Boyfriends series and in it we get Emily’s story. What starts as mistaken identity turns into a very hot night and then more. When Emily sits down at the table with an older man whom she thinks is her blind date she has no idea where it will eventually lead her. Mateo decided to play along with the beautiful young woman when she claims she is his blind date and before you know it they have shared a very hot night.
Later a second unexpected meeting and more of the actual the truth comes out. Emily finds out not only wasn’t Mateo not her intended blind date but also much more dangerous and he parents are involved. What ensues is a race to save her parents and towards love. You never doubt Mateo’s feelings for Emily even if you might doubt his actions.
Emily is not my favorite heroine by J.S. Cooper but the story and Mateo make up for it and keeps you wanting to read and see how it all ends and rooting for a happy ever after.
I received an advanced copy for an honest review.
This is the second book in the series and it’s Emily’s story. Emily is setup on a blind ate by Charlotte. When she gets to the restaurant she meets Liam AKA Matteo ( mafia boss). What ensues is one fantastic journey with plenty of twists and turns to keep the couple and the rest of the characters engaging. The storyline flowed smoothly and kept me entertained from beginning to the end.
I received a free copy for my honest and voluntary review.
I liked that this book had the same characters as The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancé with Max and Charlotte. Emily is one of Charlotte’s girl friends. Throughout the story she on one hand appears confident and independent, but she is easily lied to and is too forgiving. I want to shake her more than once when she accepted what I thought was another lame explanation for something she should have been wary about.
It was hard for me to understand why Matteo was so enamored with Emily. He was declaring his love pretty early and they hadn’t done that much together for the reader to think they were meant for each other – the romantic build up seemed missing. I was more skeptical of his sincerity than Emily was.
I didn’t like this book as much as the first book in the series, yet I can’t help but look forward to Anabel’s story. I think it is because I like my bad boys a little “badder” than Matteo was, which is a personal preference.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and from author and am voluntarily leaving a review. Emily gets set on a blind date by best friends Annabel , Charlotte her boyfriend max but when she goes to the wrong person who is matteo Liam fellini of the calbrese mob family life gets interesting. 10 stars awesome story
This story is my introduction to the author. I think it would have been extremely helpful to have read the first book or to know there was a first book. However, I know now and will be reading Max and Charlotte’s story. Honestly, I’m looking forward to Luca and Anabel’s story, too!
When you read this book, pay attention to Matteo/Liam and his revolving “life” or story. He’s passionate about Emily after accidentally going out on a blind date with her. Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out how that comes about. It was funny and loved Emily’s sassy mouth. Emily’s parents are a problem in this book and this is a major issue for Matteo and Emily. I really don’t like her parents and they deserved more animosity, but that’s my personal opinion.
I liked the book and while some of the dialogue between the Besties was annoying…it’s what many of us experience. However, we go with it because they’re our Besties!! I really don’t like Lucia and hope she gets what’s coming to her in the future. Luca, well we shall see!
Read the book, but you might want to read Max and Charlotte’s book first!! I received a free ARC via Booksprout and am leaving a review!
Sexy old man, blind date and best night ever!
Emily goes on a blind date and not only meets a sexy older man but one who rocks her world literally. Her and Matteo are absolutely hilarious together. If you love a book with great friends who have your back for everything, twists you couldn’t see coming and love then this book is for you.
I was so excited about this book and was not disappointed. I do wish it was a little longer and more dragged out. I loved their story and wanted more! I am definitely more anxiously waiting Anabel and Luca’s story. Now that is going to be an amazing Dark bad boy book.
I received this ARC for an honest review.
I like the cover as for the book, sigh…it wasn’t believable. It was too short, it lacked depth. The gangsters are mafia light, really nothing was going on in the book except weird insta-love, odd dialog and no actual character development. It reads like a short story with an attempt to make it a whole one that did. not. work. The premise was interesting which is why I bought it…silly me. Also the book, short as it is needs editing, lots of wrong words, left out words, odd sentence structure.
Beautiful Depiction Of Unconditional Friendship – 4.5 Stars
This novel had a little bit of everything with: action, adventure, drama, romance, sensual scenes and suspense. The story was good and it flowed along relatively smoothly. There are some edits that still need to be done that would change my review from a 4.5 stars to 5.0 stars. As well, there were a couple of instances of where the incorrect character name was placed in a paragraph.
The characterizations were all good, including the ensemble cast members. I especially liked the aspects of the story that highlighted the friendship and camaraderie shown by the main female character and her two best friends; unconditional love and support. Beautiful!
I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this novel via the author and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
This book is a great read! It grabs you on the first page and holds you till the last page.
This book had it all and more…
Liam (Matteo) and Emily’s story had it all. Angst, mystery and sexy romance. And I can’t wait to learn about Luca’s. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I have to say when i started reading this book my first thought was this is going to be a cute read! As i got further in and the drama and excitement stepped up i thought to my self wow i really didn’t think it would turn like that.
Liam was a handsome stranger that i wouldn’t mind kicking from my table! But Matteo is a total alpha and makes you fan your self. I love the banter between a Emily and her friends they cracked me up. It was well written and i thought it was a great storyline! Defiantly a must read!
About last night dips a toe in to the darker mafia world with Emily & Matteo, all while maintaining the usual J.S Cooper charm, quirky wit, and oh so lovable characters. Definitely a must read, like all others of hers.
On a side note, I have been oh so intrigued by Anabel since Billionaires Fake Fiancé (book 1) of the Alpha Boyfriend series, and cannot wait for her story in When We Were Us!
A chance encounter, a beautiful connection. Fate has a way of showing up and the strong connection these two have is intoxicating! This was a different kind of love story I very much enjoyed and couldn’t put down! Xo
If you like spicy romances with lots of twists and explosive chemistry, this books for you. Talk about a page-turner that will take you on an emotional roller coaster. More twists than a slinky. The passion and chemistry between Emily and Liam/Matteo will set your Kindle on fire. Thrown in mistaken identity, the mafia, stolen diamonds, the wrong blind date, parents with secrets, a billionaire or two and some loyal friends for some added drama. The book was well written with engaging characters and an exciting story line. I read this book as an arc and voluntarily chose to write a review. An ending with a twist that you won’t see coming. If you read Billionaire’s Fake Fiance you’ll recognize some of the characters. The book was a fun read with plenty of sexy scenes.
I completely love Emily. She made a mistake and then stood by it just to not say she was wrong. Who hasn’t done that. Then there’s Matteo he so was not what I thought that’s for sure. I did love his character through the book but by the end I may have been in love with him myself.
About Last Night is Book 2 in a three book series following three friends, Charlotte, Emily and Anabel. About Last Night I’d Emily’s story.
Emily has been set up on a blind date by Charlotte because she has found love with Max and wants her friends to find love also. Emily hasn’t been on a date in over a year as her last boyfriend broke her heart by breaking up with her on their Anniversary Dinner. Emily is reluctant but she doesn’t want to disappoint Charlotte so she’s headed out to meet her date. Little does she know the chain of events that follows this date will change the course of her life in the most dramatic of ways. We follow Emily into a world of deception, intrigue, danger, unbelievable pleasure and a little thing called love.
If you enjoy reading about Insta-Love, loyal friends and hilarious banter between those friends you will totally enjoy this book. I’m so ready for Anabel’s book, she’s been the most guarded character with her two best friends and we do get a taste of what that is about in About Last Night so I’m anticipating When We Were Us to be as entertaining as the previous two books.
I was gifted an ARC for my honest review.
Omg where do I begin. This book is hot, sexy and funny. The front cover is amazing. The book starts off on a blind date- which is so funny because Emily calls “Liam” old. That part of the book had to be my favorite. So this books is romance, and mafia. The book was a real roller coaster to find out who Liam was. This is hands down JS Cooper’s best written book. I LOVED this book.
If you like your romances filled with suspense, drama, twists and turns, mystery, secrets, lies, danger, undeniable chemistry, and hot sex, then check out About Last Night by J.S. Cooper. This fast-paced mafia romance story is riveting, intriguing, and unpredictable.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
I got an arc of the full book. I love the concept. I wish it had been a little longer. The storyline was very complicated with twists and turns and I wish it was more drawn out to allow me to wonder what’s gonna happen next. Overall I very much enjoyed the book! Definitely worth reading!
