Ruth Warthan is tired of her sedentary life. She longs for adventure, excitement, and most of all love, but her overly protective parents are content for her to stay with them forever, shunning even a hint of romance. Will an advertisement for a mail-order bride in faraway Texas be the answer to her prayers, or will she find that her parents were right, and she isn’t suited for marriage or life … life outside their cloistered home?

Great book in a really fun series. The supporting characters are really fun. Really original plot!
A great series!!
I truly loved Ruth’s personality. She knew what she wanted and stepped up and made it happen. She managed to “escape” her parents home and attitudes. She had felt trapped her entire life. Now she was on her way to Needful, Texas to become a Mail Order Bride. Did she make the right decision? Will she find a husband before her parents find her?
Darwin Rivers, the Hostler in town was lonely and wanted a wife in the worst way… When Ruth lays eyes on him, she goes after him immediately and they are married that day! How will this new addition to Needful fit in? Will her privileged ways keep her from what she wants the most? Darwin is just happy to have a wife and knows they will find a way to be happy together.
Both have things in their past they are afraid to talk about in the beginning… It will take some drama and a bit of excitement and danger for these two to tell each other everything. The one thing they have going for them is their incredible chemistry. I loved reading this book and know you will too. The incredible secret at the end, brings Ruth to terms with the way she was raised… You won’t want to miss it!
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
Romance story about strength, family, love and God. A few twists and turns and a mystery with a little excitement too. Very Good!
This is the best story in my mind in this series and I have loved them all so far. This one has so much going for it that just made it perfect. There is laughter, amazement, amusement, bad guys, and the wonderful folks of Needful, Texas. There is just so much more in this story that makes it a step above the others, as in all that it has and reasons I am not giving away.
If you haven’t started this series yet, start with the first book as it gives a backdrop to the stories and it’s really good anyway. Then continue in order as it makes more sense then, when you get to this one, you’ll see why I said for me it’s the best yet, which still leaves room for the next ones to come. I applaud Ms. Roan, for her brilliance in this storyline, making it have more awesome writing and characters new to the story. I truly loved this story the best so far and I can’t wait to read what this author has in store for more stories in this series. I highly recommend this story and this series so far to all readers. Give it a try and you won’t be sorry you did.
Darwin and Ruth Rivers made for a great story!! When I first met Darwin in Beth, I had no idea he’d turn out to be such a wonderful hero! When he finally came to know Jesus, He turned Darwin into a man all of Needful could depend on. Beth needed someone just like him, someone who could see her for who she was, and love her just the way she was, and could give her a little room so she could flourish. She found that man in Darwin. Where Darwin has a more serious nature, Ruth is more outgoing and cheerful. Just what Darwin needs after his rough start in life. Their personalities compliment each other, even as the two of them bring out the best in the other.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
While this is Book #5 in this series and can be read as a stand alone, after reading it you will certainly want to go back and read the other four in the series. Every one of them show the strength and determination of the characters. This is Ruth and Darwin’s story and each of their views for their future was influenced by what they had been told in their lives or what they had done in the past. The little town of Needful, Texas is full of good, helpful people, as well as some evil ones. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it…it’s a real page turner; don’t miss it.
I so want to live in Needful Texas! This is an amazing continuation of a wonderful story. A fantastic read for every library. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Powerful characters that will grab you from the first chapter.
