Reading Tessa and Gray’s story was so fun. It reminds me so much of a couple of young adults in my life – best friends (that refuse to date). It was realistic enough to have me identifying with it all along the way. I loved Tessa’s grandfather and his hand in the whole match-up. Gray’s parents on the other hand . . .
As with all of Carol Moncado’s books it’s hard to put down, and easy to re-read.
Gray Beach and Tessa have been friends forever. Then Gray tries to turn a meal together into a date, making things awkward. Tessa’s great-grandfather dies and she has to keep the farm along with marrying Gray. They get married. For weeks it is awkward, but their friendship holds out. Gray realizes first that he loves Tessa making it harder. But love wins in the end. Another sweet clean story.
So loved this story! Another fantastic book by an amazing author! Great characters and an awesome storyline… can’t wait for the next one! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review but the thoughts and words are all mine 🙂
I just finished Small Town Girls Don’t Marry Their Best Friends by the fabulous Carol Moncado. Book 3 in the Beaches of Trumanville series. This is the story of Gray Beach, we have met his sisters in previous books and Tessa Braverman. Tessa and Gray have been best friends since diapers. Tessa’s grandfather dies and leaves a stipulation for inheriting the family’s property. One of the sisters must marry a Beach brother. Not willing at first but the only really pair are Gray and Tessa. They have been bffs forever. They hang out together and really know each other better than about anyone.
It’s a wonderful story full of unexpected twists and turns. Can God open their eyes to true love? With the ending that leaves me wanting the next one to continue this family story. Read, enjoy and be blessed.
One of my favorite books in this series so far. The issues they deal with are real world based and make the story very interesting. I love seeing character development over multiple books. I cannot wait for her next book to see where the characters go next.
I’ve said it before and I’m sure I will say it again… Carol Moncado is one of the best Christian fiction authors out. I always look forward to a new book coming out!
I love this new novel about a modern day marriage of convenience. And, I love how the characters have to slowly learn to fall in love with each other. I love her happily ever afters.
I have read every book in every series she has written. If you have not read any of the other series you need to do so!
In the latest release, readers return to Trumanville to discover more about Gray and Tessa. This is the third book in this series with each book focusing on a different Beach sibling. The book starts out with Tessa returning to town after missing Lani’s wedding. Gray and Tessa have been best friends forever. However, they are given an opportunity to get married. This new release gives the reader a glimpse into this family and especially Gray and Tessa’s character and background. There are scenes that lead into the next book (which I can not wait to read). This series is a fantastic series of sweet romances that focus on a family. Ms. Moncado writes these stories so that the reader is entertained and wondering what will happen next. I always enjoy reading her books. They are filled with romance, but also deals with various types of relationships and situations. I love all of her series if you have never tried any of her books I recommend you try any of them. I highly recommend you read this book! You will not be disappointed!
This story starts out with Tessa complaining about various things she’s missed, like a wedding and a movie stand in, to Gray Beach. Being best friends since they were toddlers, something comes up that ties their hands. An injury adds a new dimension to their relationship. We see a bit of Mam and Papa Beach, as well as Lani, Harrison, Edward, Miriam, Lani, Sean, Heidi, Gray’s parents and a few others as well as being introduced to Alexis and a name I suspect will show up in a future book, Wyatt. Beautiful story, with getting to know our two main characters and the growth they make in their relationship as well as the interplay between Harrison’s parents and the typical attitude of Gray’s parents.
This was a fun story of a marriage of convenience between best friends. Author Carol Moncado loves the theme of couples marrying without love and incorporates it into so many of her books!
In Small Town Girls Don’t Marry Their Best Friends, Tessa and Gray are forced together by the death of her beloved great-grandfather. I enjoyed the way their marriage changed their friendship, making it awkward as they attempted to navigate this change and their growing feelings for each other.
But it wasn’t enough to have this as the plot. When Tessa sustains a debilitating injury, things get even more difficult. And sweet.
Each of Carol Moncado’s books incorporates characters from her previous stories. The number who appeared in this one and played a significant role seemed high to me as I was trying to keep up with who is who and what happened in their story. As secondary characters, I probably didn’t need to do this other than by compulsion.
The story had a satisfying conclusion and a cliffhanger to set the scene for the next book in the series. I’m curious to find out what happens next!
I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
This is book three in the Beaches of Trumanville series. Gray and Tessa had lots of obstacles to face but with a strong friendship as their foundation they were able to build on that to begin a lasting marriage. Their situation was different and they kind of just had to come to realize that they could love intimately instead of just as friends. Sean’s situation has me intrigued so I’m looking forward to book #4!!! Great read.
*I was given an arc for a honest review
I have had so much fun reading these new books by Carol Moncado. They are entertaining and full of unique relationships. I love the big family fun and wonderful characters this author has placed in each of her books.
I actually read this book in one day and was so delighted. It was full of interesting moments and also fun reconnections with many of the past characters from some of Ms. Moncado’s past series books. She knows how to bring just the right amount of emotions to all her books, and still leave you wanting more.
This book dealt with grief and pain in an interesting and sort of fun way. We get to see the deep friendship between Gray and Tessa, and yet we can also see the struggle they go through with their developing feelings.
If you’ve not read any of Carol Moncado’s books then you really should go out and get them.
They usually flow smoothly and are delightful from the very beginning, with some twists and turns too.
This author is one of those authors I will always drop everything to read her books!
When I read them I know it will be entertaining. Her storytelling is full of sweet moments and wonderful life lessons.
I appreciated Carol Moncado sharing the issue of everyday people like you and me. There was sadness, healing, suspense, humor, sweet moments of romance and wonderful examples of God’s love and hope.
I look forward to reading more in this new series of books from this author.
I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Here’s the next installment in Small Town Girls Have to Get Married Quickly Due to Some Unknown Edict/Forgotten Law/Grandfather’s Will, etc 🙂 Moncado has more fun pushing her main characters together before they’ve had a chance to fall in love. I enjoy discovering how she comes up with so many different ways for this to happen, and for said main characters to actually fall in love in ways that indicate they’ll hang in there for the long haul. Although they are physically attracted to each other initially, they end up loving each other for the right reasons – inner character, Godly attitudes, and such things, rather than just shallow, surface reasons.
I’m glad that Moncado includes characters from many past books, because I know these characters will show up again in future books and that the plot threads left hanging WILL get resolved at some point.
