I am a huge fan/admirer of this very talented Swedish writer. Ms Martin suddenly appeared on the erotic/romance genre around a year or so ago with a real winner and I have been a follower of her work ever since. She has been extremely prolific and yet manages to keep it real, compelling and, more importantly, different. This is the sixth and final chapter in the Russo Saga a veritable tour de force mafia family story. Although this particular genre (Russian/Italian Mafia) appears to be in fashion at present Ms Martin avoids falling into the run of the mill predictable, big hard mafia man meets or takes submissive Mafia princess gives a few spankings and some very hot sex and hey presto HEA. No, these stories are gritty, the characters are deeply complex and (in most cases) deeply flawed. They are capable of carrying out profoundly cruel and sinister acts, none more than Luciano Salvatore the not so glorious leader of the family and boss and uncle of the Russo clan. Chloe has been savagely beaten up by Christian Russo and on discharge from hospital becomes intensely enraged and in a fit of pique walks into the lion’s den but when she is thrown into a cell refuses to buckle under extreme hardship both physical and mental and somehow, between beatings and starvation manages to crawl under Luci’s skin. Can there possibly be redemption and even love in the future. At the risk of repetition, I reiterate that this is where Ms Martin is a real winner, she doesn’t take the easy option where suddenly there are hearts and flowers, no she follows the story to its proper conclusion, without cutting corners, properly ties up all loose ends and finishing all the clan’s stories satisfactorily. There is a HEA with love but no sentimental slush which tends to make the reader cringe, well I do anyway LOL No, Luci is still a tough formidable gangster and all the Clan are still in the business of being bad mostly anyway thereby bing far more interesting than they would as loved up fluffy bunnies. I am sure I will revisit these books again and again. Excellent entertainment, I cannot wait to see what she will come up with next. Meanwhile thanks Nicolina thanks for all the terrific reads.
This is the first book I have read by Nicolina Martin but I hope it is the first of many. I couldn’t put this book down. I always think it is a testament to a good author if they make the reader fall for the bad guy and this was so true in Capo. When I started, I didn’t think that I could possibly root for Luciano, never mind that Chloe would fall for him, but somehow both of those things happened. This is a fast paced, exciting, at times brutal and ugly story, that turns into a love story just as strong. An incredible read.
This book is part of a series, The Russo Saga. This is the story of Luciano Salvatore, the Boss of the mob organization. It’s a very intense book from the beginning, as expected, since Luci is ruthless. He is a monster towards Chloe, very cruel, but once he sees her interacting with his son, who suffers autism, he sees her differently. It is hard for him to acknowledge his feelings, and she fights and argues with him all the time, so he does what is normal for him, fight back and instill pain. He changes his approach to her, but she doesn’t give up and submit, so he gets angry. They have this hot and cold relationship until finally are able to acknowledge each other’s feelings and get their HEA.
I love the fact the epilogue is like the beginning of the next book, about Angela Russo. I can’t wait to read that one!!
Luciano Salvatores story is everything and so much more of what I hoped for 100 stars OMG so good the writing and character development is amazing his story takes over your life I couldn’t get enough.
Luciano Salvatore the Capo is brutal with no mercy be woman or man and he is just plain out cruel and when Chloe god bless her she is so brave walks into that den it’s explosive and downright wrong and their painful journey begins maybe he does have a heart but in his own style.
I can’t say enough how I absolutely loved this story the chemistry is explosive and redeeming one self and meeting your equal on all levels was just phenomenal.
Gritty, Brutal and Fabulous!!
If you are jumping into this series, I truly recommend you start at the beginning … This story is interwoven with the previous adding to your enjoyment if you recognize “action” from the other stories.
Luciano Salvatore is a monster. Brutally beaten by Salvatore’s nephew, Chloe confronts “Luci”. Bad mistake. Now she is “his” to do as he wishes. Her continued defiance intrigues and attracts the monster. Amazing depth of characters, and glimpses of the possibility that there may be some sliver of humanity residing beneath the ruthless exterior.
Edge-of-your-seat reading at its best. Captivating series finale!
