Ellie: I didn’t hear or understand the world like everyone else. What I can tell you is I knew I had found the love of my life and I would love him until I breathed my last breath. But that’s the thing about life, it throws you curve balls you never saw coming. Life can rip your heart out and leave you gasping for air as you try to make sense of the world that continues to move on without you. … And then when you think you cannot go on another minute, the rain clouds part and you catch a glimpse of sunlight.
Nolan: I loved her the moment I saw her. Crazy right? Yet true all the same. But she wasn’t mine, as her heart belonged to another. I accepted that and willed myself to move on. But then the unimaginable happened and it turned our world upside down. She left and I knew I had to give her space, but now she’s back and I’ve been given the chance of a lifetime. Only problem is I don’t know if I’ll ever be enough for her, to help glue the pieces of her broken heart back together.
“A raw, heartbreaking story of grief, forgiveness, and finding love again. An edgy yet inspirational Christian romance that brings the hard truths of life into the pages. It shows God is in everything, not just the happily ever after moments!”

I read and reviewed this book Voluntarily.
This is the second book I have read by Sarah Tomlinson; and once again I was sucked into the story.
Ellie’s pain is so real and raw when she loses her person. The love of her life. But is there someone else for her? Will she be able to open her heart and let in love?
This was a great book and I recommend that his be read. It was a heartbreaking and sweet story.
An emotional and gripping story that pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s an incredible read and one of the best ones out there. Ellie has been deaf her whole life. She met Connor when they were 7, and knew immediately that they were soulmates. He was there for her when her father died. Best friends always, and in love, he’s her rock when the kids at school are mean, or when her mother attacks her. They’re inseparable. Until the unthinkable happens, and Connor’s gone. After wallowing in grief and self-pity for months, she goes to stay with her aunt in Seattle. She goes to school, gets a good job, builds a life, while keeping her secrets. Nolan fell in love with Ellie the moment he saw her, but she was Connor’s girl. He has secrets relating to Connor as well, secrets that hurt her terribly when she finds out. This is one of the most moving books I’ve read, with a story line unlike any other. heartbreaking at times, even as there are joyful things going on. There are definite Christian undertones, but the religious aspect is not a major focus. Love, friendship, family, forgiveness, redemption – this book has it all and more. Need tissues.

This was an emotional story with Ellie who is deaf and grew up next door to her best friend Connor. They always planned for a future together until Nolan moves to town and he instantly has his eye on Ellie but stays away. When a horrible tragedy occurs it is Nolan who steps up to comfort Ellie.
I picked this book up because the premise sounded phenomenal but I was very apprehensive when I realized it was a christian fiction book. I don’t have anything against religious fiction but it was just a genre that I chose to skip over when looking at books. I can’t tell you how happy I am that I decided to read this one!
This book sucked me in so hard and I felt like I was in this story, feeling Ellie’s feelings and crying her tears, and let me tell you that there was some ugly crying at times. I liked that it showed the ugly side of grief and how it can consume a person, cause them to act irrationally, and reinforces that grief impacts each of us differently. We not only see grief but we see how the love of family and friends can heal a person, and how impactful forgiveness can be. I liked that while it had religious aspects it wasn’t so in your face that it was off putting, like they talk about praying or waiting til marriage but they make sense for the particular scenes at the time.
I can’t say that I am completely on board with Christian Fiction/ Edgy Christian Fiction books but I can honestly say that I see myself reading more Sarah Tomlinson books in the future. I truly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it to others, just have Kleenex near by.

Wow. Absolutely incredible. Seriously. I can’t get into details without spoiling it, but this book was top notch. I read hundreds of books a year and this is in the top 10. The depth of character, the intricacies of storyline, the different aspects, such as ASL. Truly great. I can’t wait to see what Tomlinson comes up with next.

Heart-wrenchingly Beautiful
Love often brings pain, and trying to prevent that pain is hard, if not impossible. That’s the way it is for Ellie, Conner and Nolan. It wasn’t meant to be, but it happened.
This is a story of true love, painful love, healing love.
Losing a father is painful… losing the one who is your forever is excruciating. Then, having your forever take care of you when he can’t be that forever anymore, is heart wrenching. That is Conner, Ellie and Nolan’s story…. moving from one forever to another. It’s not easy. The journey breaks your heart as you read it. This is a journey of love … real love, true love, tested love.
