Dollycas’s Thoughts
Usually, trouble finds Poppy Fields but this time she goes looking for trouble. To get the answers she needs she flies off to Egypt by herself. Mark aka Thor can’t go with her but he hooks her up with Ethan Alexander from the C.I.A. Poppy isn’t sure if she can trust him but when bullets start to she realizes she doesn’t have a choice.
This story is a little different because all the normal supporting characters, Mark, Mia, Chariss, Yurgi, and even Consuela are not around to assist Poppy through all her trials and tribulations. Okay, some do show up in the nick of time near the end of the book, but Poppy really had to hold her own before that with just a couple of surprising assists.
She was there on her own private personal mission but she runs into someone that her boss, Mr. Brown is very interested in. He puts her on the case of surveilling his target until he can send another agent to help. This adds a nice twist but also puts a huge target on her back. The action is truly non-stop with the perfect amount of Julie Mulhern’s signature humor.
I really enjoyed the way the author describes everywhere Poppy travels, from the hotels, the ship on the Nile, the desert, the temples, the tombs, the marketplace, and everywhere in between. Of course, Poppy wasn’t on your typical vacay but it was an incredibly fun virtual trip to the home of the Pharaohs.
Like every other book in this series, the book was just impossible to put down. I would have read the entire thing in one evening but my breast cancer therapy had my eyes slamming sooner than I would have liked.
I absolutely loved this Poppy Fields adventure. Julie Mulhern never disappoints. Like the 4 previous books, Fields’ Guide to Pharaohs receives my Paradise rating. To get know Poppy and all the other characters I recommend reading them all in order and enjoy all their adventures! You can thank me later
This whole series is a scream.
You just have to get past the start of the first book, where it seems it is not going anywhere.
Fields’ Guide to Pharaohs is an incredible, exciting, action packed adventure. I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down. I can’t wait for the next book! This book is full of mystery, action, excitement and intrigue. The characters are fantastic. I grow to love Poppy more with each book. This is a must read!
Poppy can not stay out of trouble, when the plane lands, trouble soon finds her. How can one beautiful, smart, woman attract so many bad guys. She has more guys in her life that a Hollywood It Girl. The difference is when the bad guys shoot at Poppy she shoots back. Enjoy your journey with the Pharaoh’s.
This is the fifth book in the Poppy Fields Adventure series and it still continues to be a hoot to read. If you enjoy Stephanie Plum, I think you’ll enjoy this series. This time Poppy went to Egypt to find her father. But she no sooner sets foot there and she becomes a target. She has to trust new people, use her wits to avoid being killed and answer to Mr. Brown. I don’t want to give anything away, but she finds her Dad for a brief time before Thor(Mark) comes to take her to safety and her next possible adventure. Maybe her father will show up again? Julie Mulhern does a great job of describing Egypt, Poppy’s couture, and her driving again (ha ha!). I hated to put it down and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed at times, and was worried for Poppy and her new friend, Ethan at other times. Looking forward to more adventures, or is it misadventures? Can’t wait.
Fields’ Guide to Pharaohs is timeless fast-action adventure at its best! Take away Poppy’s smart phone and her breathless search for her father across Egypt, author Julie Mulhern’s 5th Poppy Fields novel could have taken place at any point in time since the international search for Egyptian antiquities has inspired greed and murder.
Poppy’s search for her father among the tombs of Egypt kicks her danger magnet into high gear. The many talents she learned from her father before his supposed death come into play as an unidentified menace leaves bodies in her wake. The one man she trusts to help her can’t enter the country and she does not trust those assigned to assist her.
While I recommend readers follow the series from the beginning, if you only read one novel in the Poppy Fields Adventures series, Fields’ Guide to Pharaohs is the book to read.
I love this series! Not only that, I have been itching to travel to Egypt. But since we won’t be traveling anywhere for a while, this book was a super way to experience Egypt while staying safely at home.
Poppy is in search of her father. He’s somewhere in Egypt and he has secrets that she’s yet to uncover. She teams up with a CIA agent to help guide her in her search. That’s when bullets start to fly! It’s nonstop action and fun. I had a blast trying to figure out what was going on while visiting all the best places in Egypt. This book made me even more anxious to visit there one day. I highly recommend it.
