“Can it still be hurricane season? Must be, because here come Serge A. Storms and his perpetually stoned bro, Coleman, in Tim Dorsey’s gonzo crime caper.” –The New York Times Book Review
The “compulsively irreverent and shockingly funny” (Boston Globe) Tim Dorsey returns with an insanely entertaining tale in which the inimitable Serge A. Storms sees dead people and investigates a creepy urban … inimitable Serge A. Storms sees dead people and investigates a creepy urban myth that may be all too real.
Though another devastating hurricane is raking Florida, its awesome power can’t deter the Sunshine State’s most loyal son, Serge A. Storms, from his latest scenic road trip: a cemetery tour. With his best bro Coleman riding shotgun, Serge hits the highway in his gold ’69 Plymouth Satellite, putting pedal to the metal on a grand tour of the past. Beginning in Key West, the sunshine boys’ odyssey includes a forgotten mass grave in Palm Beach County holding the remains of African Americans killed by the Great Hurricane of 1928, and the resting place of one world-famous television dolphin (RIP Flipper) from the 1960s.
But one deadland—a haunted old sugar field—holds more than just the bones of those who’ve passed. For years, local children have whispered about a boogeyman hiding among the stalks. Could it be the same maniac known as Naked Florida Man, who’s been raising hell all over the place?
There are few things Serge loves more than solving a good mystery and bestowing justice on miscreants who sully his beloved home’s good name. With his partner Bong Man, Florida’s psycho superhero will find the truth in this hilariously violent delight—packed with history, lore, and plenty of motel antics—from the insanely ingenious Tim Dorsey.

Serge Storms and Coleman at Christmas. What’s not to like?
One thing about this book is you never really know what’s gonna happen next. Three tales alternate in the narrative of a girl who loves football, a treasure trove of gold coins, and a historic tour of part of Florida. I love how they wove together and mostly love how Serge provided justice. I know…sometimes I wonder when I think these things are funny, but it’s best to let go and laugh while everything unfolds. I laughed every night…lots!
Not worth the time and effort to read. Tediously boring and really has absolutely no point to it at all.
There was nothing in the least bit humorous about this book. The 2 main characters were … all I can say is “STUPID”, as were their supposed motivations. Dialogue is nothing more than existential BS. This is one of what I am given to understand is a huge series. Guess I will not be one of its fans.
I love this author. He never disappoints
I have enjoyed several of these books by Tim Dorsey featuring Serge Storm and Coleman. This was the best so far. I look forward to reading more of them.
A new Dorsey book is always a treat. The Florida history is interesting & you can’t wait for Serge’s imaginative methods of dealing with the lowlifes who plague the Sunshine state. His books are like a Florida vacation without having to set foot in that dysfunctional state.
laughed out loud many times
This is my first Tim Dorsey book and won’t be my last. I just love the sense of humor…but likely not for everyone. The humor is darkly hilarious. The historical information about Florida is phenomenally researched and very interesting. Serge’s sense of justice is …interesting. Actually he is immoral by some standards however pretty much a twisty cowboy of the white hat variety. The socio political statements are pretty clear and fuel his righteous indignation which motivates what he does. Most interesting character I’ve read in years…can’t wait to read more! Thank you Bookbub for the intro to a wonderful author!!
I LOVE Serge and Coleman!! I’m a sucker for a happy ending anyway and the fact that the bad guys all become the subjects of interesting “science experiments” along the way only add to the fun as far as I’m concerned. Can’t get enough of these guys!
very confusing and twisted plot even tho things ended up OK in the end
Did not enjoy the style of writing.
It was entertaining but it was out of my genre so I had a difficult time staying interested.
Serge and Coleman travel around Lake Obasshobee. They help save a young girl from a ruthless treasure hunter after a fortune that was lost in the Hurricane of 1928.
Typical Serge Storms
I hope Tim never stops writing books. I’m too hooked now. I can’t wait for the next ones!
Sergej and Coleman on another epic adventure. This is another ode to Serge’s twisted sense of right and wrong! Don’t feed birds Alka-Seltzer, Don’t mess with children, and definitely do not mess with old people! As always and educational roller coaster in the great state of Florida! Buy this book people
