USA Today Bestselling Author Carolyn Ridder Aspenson introduces a fun new cozy series featuring sassy Southern charm! LILY SPRAYBERRY SELLS HOMES AND SOLVES CRIMES.Welcome to Bramblett County Georgia, where the tea is sweet, and the crime is real! I wasn’t exactly looking forward to my meeting with my cantankerous older client, Myrtle Redbecker, but I didn’t wish her dead to get out of it.But … I didn’t wish her dead to get out of it.
But dead she was. Right smack in the middle of her kitchen floor, with the murder weapon, a cast iron skillet, lying beside her.
That had to hurt.
Things couldn’t get worse for old Myrtle, but they sure could for me, and then did. Since I’d found the body, I had to report it, which meant I’d have to speak to my ex, who just happened to be the Bramblett County Sheriff. I was not looking forward to that.
I’d promised Myrtle I’d sell her property to a developer, not an individual buyer, though I wasn’t quite sure why that was so important to her. I intended to keep that promise, and as I worked toward that goal, I soon discovered the killer would do anything to make sure I wasn’t successful.
If you love Southern cozy mysteries, you’ll love Lily Sprayberry!

Deal Gone Dead, my first read from author Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. Well-written & enjoyable, reminiscent of the early writing of Karin Slaughter. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. I own 10 other books by her but need to get Decluttered and Dead to read next. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
I had already read all her Angela Panther series, so when I saw this I was very excited. I liked the characters and could relate to some of the quirky neighbors as I have met some of those myself.
Lily and Belle are adorable, I love that her series have a best friend that always has her back. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
This is going to be a GREAT series!!
I am really enjoying Lily and the gang! Such fun cozy mysteries with well developed characters and plot! Can’t wait to see what they get up to next!
A great fun cozy mystery. Love the characters.
I’ve not had much luck with cozy mysteries in the past. I’ve found a very few good ones, with most just being irritating by having the main character doing stupid things. This Lily Sprayberry story isn’t like that. Lily uses her head and tries to keep out of trouble, it just seems that trouble has a way of finding her in spite of her best efforts.
Lily is a likable main character with a funny best friend/business partner. Their constant banter and teasing makes them seem like real people who you’d actually like to know. I enjoyed the romance angle, too, between Lily and the new sheriff. I didn’t feel it was unbelievable or over-the-top, which is also a rare thing in a cozy.
Carolyn Aspenson has done a good job with this new book and I highly recommend it.
This is my very first Cozy Mystery by the Author that I have ever read and what an amazing Cozy Mystery this was!!
The characters were incredible. Lily was so much fun to read about and get to know. For being a real estate agent, she made solving murders easy. I enjoyed following along with Lily and the clues to solving the murderer.
The story-line was phenomenal. I literally couldn’t put this book down. It was so much fun reading along and solving the crimes and thinking I had the murderer figured out to finding out that in the end, I never knew what hit me. Aspenson is an amazing writer and is awesome at reeling her audience and keeping us in suspense. This is a fun and addicting story and I highly recommend it!!
A great kick off to a new series. The mystery is full of surprises that had me changing my mind repeatedly as to who dun-nit. I still was wrong, it’s a great twist! Lily is a great new character and her relationship with Dylan had me feeling sorry for both of them while laughing at them at the same time. The friendship between Lily and Belle was one of my favorite parts, this author has a real knack for writing great, realistic best friend relationships. I can’t wait to see what mess this group gets into next.
Great new cozy mystery! This one really caught my attention since the main character is a Realtor and that is what my career is as well. Great characters that were well fleshed out and ethical so I was quite pleased with that portrayal of a Realtor. An intriguing storyline that had multiple potential suspects although you will easily figure out who the culprit/culprits is/are the story unfolds in an entertaining and intriguing manner to keep you turning pages to the end! I really can’t wait to see how the characters progress and what other mysteries they unravel in future books!
I could not put this book down!!!!! I grew up in rural GA and this brought back great memories!!!!! Lilly is full of spunk and fun!!!!! She handles every twist and turn with flair and determination. Get this book now because you have found your new favorite author and your new favorite series!!!!!!!!!
Deal Gone Dead by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson is a southern cozy mystery that welcomes the reader to Bramblett County Georgia. Ms. Aspenson’s descriptive writing of the small town that Lily Sprayberry lives in made me want to move as soon as possible.
I really liked Lily and her best friend and co-worker, Belle. They own the real estate office in their small town and really do love what they do. You could tell that they have been the best of friends for years and know each other better than some sisters or brothers. The plot was quickly paced with a murder in the first chapter and so many suspects that all had some pretty convincing motives. With southern charm, plenty of little twists and few red herrings thrown into the story, I was wrapped up in the story until I reached the end. If you love cozies with southern sassiness, pick up this book because you won’t be disappointed. I am ready for the next one in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
Hooked from the very 1st page. The action starts right off. Hilarious adventures with Lily and the town full of zany characters. Love the friendship between Lily and her best friend, Belle. Great mystery with lots of suspects. I stayed up all night reading it even though I kind of figured who the killer was, I was enjoying the story so much. A great new series. Can’t wait for book 2.
