Her beautiful face, serene and immobile, resting on her folded arm. Her long, luscious hair, undulating gently in the evening breeze. Her eyes half-closed, and a hint of a smile on her pale lips, as if to welcome an unseen lover. “WOW!!! Don’t forget to buckle up your seat belt before starting to read this book. Oh wow, talk about a thrilling thriller. I just loved this book. I read the book when it first came out but I was still captivated until the very end listening to the audio book. I also spent most of the time guessing who the killer was because there was so much going on I couldn’t remember who was involved. I loved the fact that most of the investigation took place in a hospital room as the main character recovers from a gunshot wound but that doesn’t mean Tess is weak or incapable because she is definitely not. The story does jump around as the story is told by a number of characters but I think that really works as it adds to the tension and mystery, giving reasons and clues by giving you the different perspectives. Nobody writes a thriller like this author and she should be on every bodies to be read list.
FBI Special Agent Tess Winnett is supposed to be recovering in hospital but when she learns that a body of a missing woman is found in her back garden, she fears that a serial killer is at work. With the clock ticking and another life on the line Tess must push herself and her team to find the clues the killer is leaving behind. Non of the victims seen to have a connection other than catching a glimpse of a man holding a rope days before they are taken. Then someone Tess knows, doesn’t turn up for work and Tess feels the pressure to find her before the time runs out and the clock stops ticking.
I liked the narrator. He used some good voices to differentiate each of the characters.

Glimpse of Death (Special Agent Tess Winnett #3) was a great read by Leslie Wolfe. The body of a young woman is found in her back yard, a week after she disappeared. The evidence seems to lead investigators to the conclusion that she is not the first victim, and there is a serial killer no one knew of. FBI Special Agent Tess Winnett works with the local detectives to search for answers. The search intensifies when another body is found, and details about the killer’s unusual signature emerges. The serial kilklerlikes to stalk his victims before abducting them. While stalking them, he shows them a flash of what’s coming as a foreboding waring of their grim future. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.
What a ride! You will not be able to put this book down until you are finished!
WARNING: Graphic sexual violence against women. Warning given, I found this fast-paced thriller filled with lots of credible forensic information. Some of it may be author inspired, but I found it convincing. Less convincing … the main character Tess Winnett. The injuries she suffered before this book starts would make most of her physical actions nearly impossible. After three or four days in the hospital, she goes on a wild car ride over potholes at high speeds and doesn’t even tear one her many stitches. She is also portrayed as smarter and more intuitive than everyone else (police, FBI, techs, etc.). But … she’s the heroine, driven to find the serial killer and rapist who seem every bit as smart as she. Her failure to recognize the killer after having used a questionable approach to using a sketch artist doesn’t fit with her brilliance. Leslie Wolfe is a prolific writer. Based on this read, I’ll give her another try–with a different main character.
Great read!
I love Leslie Wolfe! Her books showcase strong women working and solving cases. She uses police and medical jargon, but explains it that so people who may not binge watch CSI / Law and Order can follow the story. I love her writing, the characters, trying to solve the crime before the ending (I’m seldom right.) Her writing is so intriguing that you have to finish the book right then! Thank you Leslie Wolfe for another amazing book!
Such a great read! Moved fast, kept me on the edge of my seat. Great characters
Fantastic book, written by one of my favorite authors.
