A Holiday novella. The Shoemakers and Ferraros plan to spend Christmas in Texas with Larry and Jane Ann’s brother and then take a camping trip through the Southwest. But those plans are stopped cold when they hit a rogue ice storm in Missouri and they end up snowbound in a campground. And that’s just the beginning. Includes recipes and winter camping tips.
I love that these books give a realistic view of camping along with the mysteries that the characters are involved in solving. There are also lots of camping tips and recipes in the back of each book.
This is a holiday mystery that is sure to warm your heart. It is a fun story sure to transform any holiday Scrooge. I enjoyed all the camping information because I know so little about camping. Overall, it is a enjoyable read no matter the time of year.
I extremely enjoyed this book. For most of us that have raised our children and hope to see them at Christmas, this book lets us know that we can switch gears and create a new great Christmas. Bravo!
This was a short but sweet novella involving Frannie Shoemaker and friends. Frannie is looking forward to her children’s visit for Christmas, so when plans change, she is disappointed and doesn’t know what to do. Her sister-in-law and husband are planning a trip to visit brother Bob in Texas, so Frannie and Larry decide to go along. And, so the adenture begins!
A rare blizzard, complete with power outage, makes everything a little bit harder, but Frannie finds herself having one of the best Christmases she can remember. All in all, this was an entertaining book that reminds the reader of the true meaning of Christmas, family and friendship.
The narrator did a great job and is perfect for this book and the entire series. If you enjoy a good cozy mystery with fun characters and misadventures, give this series a try. You won’t be disappointed. I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook by the author/narrator/publisher and chose to review it.
I didn’t read anything about the book before I started but what a warm feel good read. An unplanned Christmas treat for everyone!
This review is for the audio book.
I have enjoyed the other books in this series but somehow this book didn’t work for me, I kept waiting for something to happen and then it ended. Don’t get me wrong I did enjoy it because I know he characters so well but if you are waiting for the mystery (which it is billed as, yes I did check) then you are going to be disappointed. It is a fun and very short story looking at what it is like going camping at Christmas, a nice fun cozy feel good book with old friends and new ones.
Frannie is facing a Christmas without her children or grandchildren for the first time and is struggling to get into the Christmas spirit. That is until Sue Anne and Mickey invite them to join them on there holiday plans. With the camper vans dusted off they head off to a empty camp site and settle down for the night before taking off in the morning . These plans quickly change when a snow storm hits and then it becomes a case of surviving. With no electricity or hot water its back to basics and as it was a last minute decision to go they have very little food. The roads blocked and even more snow falling they have to dig deep to find the joy of Christmas and use nature to help make it happen. Can the Shoesmakers pull off a miracle and actually enjoy Christmas? Somebody needs that miracle.
With Michelle Babb as the narrator a three star overall story jumps up to a four star. What more can I say? She is very talented and I enjoy listening to her.
