It was just supposed to be one night. No kissing. No feelings. A wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am tangle in the sheets and we go our own ways.Only it’s a small town, and I was bound to run into the irresistible Porter Jones again. I just didn’t expect it to be at my job interview…which he’s conducting. Now the live-in nanny to his adorable seven-year-old daughter, I’m doing my best to avoid falling for … doing my best to avoid falling for his charms.
Except it’s much harder than either of us anticipated.
What’s a few romps between friends?
No kissing. No feelings. Just fun.
Sounds simple, right?
Right…

nother fabulously written story from the wonderful Teagan Hunter! Porter is a single dad to a hilarious 7 year old daughter, Kyrie. Dory is funny, smart, and beautiful but working 3 jobs to make ends meet. Their chemistry is off the charts, their banter hilarious and a one night stand turns to incredibly awkward working environment. I was immediately hooked on their story and did not want it to end. Definitely an unputdownable must read!!!
Porter and Dory are a couple that needed to be written. I loved seeing Porter in the last book and was glad he got his book and HEA.
There were so many things about book to like, the single dad, the forbidden romance, the comic relief. This book has it all.
Dory doesn’t do relationships. She doesn’t let herself get attached. Porter says everyone leaves. These two that are opposites have such a connection. Will the pull be enough to make it work? Add in Kyrie and her sass and spunk.
This was a great read. I’ve loved this series and hope for more!
Porter goal in life is to slow down and enjoy being with his daughter and his friends on the East Coast. A major cross country move left him needing a nanny. Enter Dory, she is smart, gorgeous, loves his daughter, and is great in bed. OOPS, she is his one night stand that is now living in his house. They can play it cool is the promise to each other. Good intentions can fall to the wayside in the fight for love.
Hunter gave us everything a good story needs: intrigue, a hot relationship, nosy friends, great world building, and two people fighting love. Porter and Dory had great chemistry and his daughter Kyrie was good comic relief.
Doughn’t Let Me Go is an engaging sweet, witty, fun, emotional and humorous small town romantic comedy, with an element of forbidden romance.
Porter is a successful businessman, a bit of a workaholic and a single father to the sassy Kyrie. He’s kind of bossy, and incredibly sexy and a wonderful, loving father.
Dory is a hardworking young woman, who is down on her luck, life seem to be doing it’s best to keep her down. She’s a bit unavailable emotionally as it takes everything she has to survive. She’s strong and resilient and I loved her interactions with not only Porter, but Kyrie as well.
The sexual tension between this pair just oozes off the page and their banter is fun and flirty and will leave you with a smile upon your face.
Several past favorite character make cameo appearances throughout the storyline and I cannot wait to see who’s story is next.
Once again we have a funny, emotive, phenomenal romantic comedy centered on the pizzeria, Slice, in a small beach town in North Carolina, and I was so tickled to return to this pizza-loving community. This one sliced up my heart more than chopped and diced pizza toppings. I adore all things Porter, Dory and seven-year-old Kyrie.
Porter Jones has recently moved to the east coast to be near his best friend and have his daughter grow up in a place close to his heart. In setting up to run his California business from his new home, he needs to hire an assistant as well as a nanny for Kyrie. The assistant is easy peasy, but the nanny proves problematic since his first choice turns out to be the woman he just had a rare one-night stand with the previous night.
Dory Palmer has fought and scraped for everything since the age of sixteen. Her goal is to go to college and become a social worker, and the nanny job will allow her to quit her three part-time jobs and work towards her goal. When she discovers that Porter is the one who’s hiring, she sees her dreams disintegrate before her eyes. But they had agreed their night together would be just that, one night that included no kissing and no feelings, so maybe it’s possible for them to be professional going forward.
I got the biggest kick out of watching these two together. Those declarations of “we can be professional,” or “we’re just friends” signal to me that it’s going to be highly entertaining watching them fall. Obviously Porter and Dory fall, and I had the biggest grin on my face throughout most of their story. Add a precocious, smart, unfiltered seven-year-old with an attitude, and stick a fork in me because I’m done. These three wound their way around my heart and I gobbled up every word of their story.
This whole series is amazing, and Porter and Dory’s story is the perfect addition. Outrageously funny, a nice dose of steam, and plenty of heartstring pulls, this delightful, engaging, feel-good story is not to be missed!
Hunter delivers a dash of common sense with a slice of empathy and a sprinkle of humor. Doughn’t Let Me Go puts the heart on notice with some food for the soul. Hard truths doled out in a heartwarming way. Dory and Porter provide a breath of uniqueness in a world of narratives that have obviously been done before. With a laugh track and tempting dose of emotion, Hunter will have readers coming back for seconds from her entree of love.
Loved this book – I came away with such a big smile on my face
This is book 3 in The Slice Series and I think it’s my favourite so far! (I also think I’ve said that before lol) but still…this is my favourite so far!!
We have Porter who is a hot single dad who owns a multimillion dollar company and needs a break! He needs to take a step back and just breathe, learn that you don’t have to do everything on your own, and enjoy life! After hearing about this ‘lil town over and over again from his pal Foster (who we meet in Book 1, A pizza my heart) he takes the plunge and moves with his adorable 7 year old daughter Kyrie.
Speaking of his daughter…talk about being wise beyond your years!! That child had me in stitches, such a sweet, funny and cute character.
The relationship that dad and daughter have is pure swoon worthy, I swear there’s nothing hotter than a good dad!!
Then we have Doris aka Dory who is getting it tough! She’s working 3 jobs, going to school to study Social Work and living in a crappy apartment when the opportunity to work as a live-in-nanny comes about. It sounds perfect, if only she hadn’t met the dad the night before….
An excellent read that I thoroughly enjoyed
If your looking for a fun, cute, feel-good read with adorable and believable characters, you like catching up with previous characters and want a book that you can read over and over again, then look no further!
I voluntarily received an arc from the author and this is my honest review.
Single dads is one of my favorite jams to read. I was loving me some of Porter and his hilarious 7 year old daughter, Kyrie. She needs a nanny and Dory is the perfect gal for the job. I thought Porter and Dory were an awesome couple. There wasn’t any unnecessary over the top drama with them, they had some serious hot chemistry and banter between them. I had a good time reading this. I really enjoyed every character in this series, they were all fun and entertaining. It’s like I want to be friends with all of them and hang out and eat pizza!
There is a very short list of authors whose books I will buy every single time, no matter what. Teagan Hunter is one of those and this book, Book 3 in her Slice series, does not disappoint.
We “met” Porter briefly in Book 2, I Knead You Tonight when he is in town visiting his friends, although we didn’t get to know anything about him then.
Porter is a dedicated single father to 7 year old Kyrie, who is freaking amazing. Seriously, I love that kid. Dory (not like the fish, thank you very much) is working hard to support herself and pay for college. She loves kids and wants to be a social worker. The nanny position would change her life in the best way possible. Of course things get complicated 🙂
This book was so very good. Highlights: Chapter 12. The entire chapter. Cha Cha Slide. Porter shopping in a tiara. Foster being an amazing uncle. Every word that came out of Kyrie’s mouth. Porter as a dad. Pancake Wednesdays.
This is another fantastic installment in the Slice series and I can’t wait to see what’s next. Also I really want some of these specialty pizzas that *need* to exist in my life.
Whenever I need a witty, funny heartfelt read,I know I can count on the perfect remedy from Teagan. This book delivered and then some! Just when I thought I couldn’t love the characters from the first 2 books more than I already did,Porter came blowing in and fit perfectly within this group of wildly eclectic and fun characters! Dory and Porter meet and hit it off with a BANG…literally. When Dory ends up nannying Porters daughter, it opens the doors for all sorts mayhem, comedy, and *gasp* feelings! The one thing they are both trying to fight the most. Little Kyrie stole the show with her fun, no filter, unabashedly open personality which reminded all too much of my own child! lol this book has lots of fun sexy times, laughs, and is swoony with all the feels! Go grab this book! You don’t want to miss out on the slice world!
*now everybody clap your hands!*
Porter is a single dad new to town. Taking advantage of the few nights he has time to himself, he goes to Slice for beer and pizza. Dory, a college student, working 2 or 3 jobs to afford school sits next to him, as she tries to enjoy her night before the interview that could change your life. Next thing we know, Porter and Dory share a night either of them will forget. Until the next day, when neither of them expect to see each other so soon, Dory is interviewing to be Porter’s daughter’s nanny. Which comes as a stock to both of them. Their chemistry is amazing from the the beginning. They are made for each other, whether Dory believes it or not. Teagan has the best puns for this book!
My heart feels so full and happy after reading this book. I absolutely love Porter and Dory. The chemistry between these two is intense and just makes you all giddy like a school girl. Porter comes from a past of people leaving him, but he wants nothing more than to find someone who won’t leave him. While Dory has trouble having feelings of love. Their past is one of the things that make their connection so strong.
I really enjoyed the banter between Porter and Dory. They seemed to click from the moment they laid eyes on one another. But the one who had me laughing out loud several times throughout the book was Porter’s daughter, Kyrie. For a seven year old she has so much sass and I loved it.
I found it hard to pull myself away from the book. The story has a happy ever after, is easy to read, great world building, and full of wonderful characters.
Jesus, Mary, and Porter.
I loved this book. But that’s no surprise since it came from the mind of Teagan Hunter. I know exactly what to expect from her books and that’s a good thing. I devoured the book in one morning. The story between Dory and Porter was funny, sweet, and heartbreaking. I especially loved Porter because he reminds me of my husband. Minus the multimillionaire part. Dory’s perspective of kissing and sex was so relatable. That little twist (which I’m not going to say, you’ll just have to read it yourself), was so beautiful. It really made me love Porter even more.
Am I swaying you a little?? Read the damn book!!! You won’t be disappointed!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. There’s a reason Teagan Hunter is one of my new favorite authors. In her typical fashion, this book is funny, and also sexy. Porter is my most favorite character; Kyrie is second. Dory, I found to be a little irritating. Overall, the story was fantastic, and I am still hoping Sully gets his own story.
Porter is a single dad, but when he gets a free night to do what he wants, he takes full advantage. Enter Dory. Dory is trying to take a night to relax before she interviews for a job that could change the course of her life. She never expected the guy she spent that one night with, would be the guy she had to interview with for this job. The two agree, one night was it, that’s all it can be and Dory becomes the live-in nanny for Porter’s daughter. However, the sexual tension becomes too much to ignore and they decide it can’t hurt to scratch the itch. They’re just having fun, no feelings, just fun, but is fun all they’re really having??
Porter is the most amazing father. His relationship with his daughter, Kyrie, was beautiful, and to watch how Dory becomes entwined with them…my heart almost couldn’t take how perfect they were, even before they allowed themselves to start feeling more for each other. I absolutely loved Teagan’s texting series, but the Slice series has become my absolute favorite by her. The banter between all of the characters is hilarious but also meaningful at the same time. And the sass on Kyrie, girl is like my spirit animal I swear, she may be small but that sass was mighty and I loved every minute of it! I also love that we get to revisit the previous couples and get a peek at how they’re doing! Honestly, one of Teagan’s absolute best books I’ve ever read, hands down!
DOUGHN’T LET ME GO is book 3 in the “Slice” series and it is my favorite of all the books I have read by this author.
I devoured this fast paced story in one sitting. I wanted to write a review full of cute pizza puns, but it just felt cheesy.
There is nothing that I would change in this story. It is light and airy with some heart tugging moments. It is fun watching this couple navigate their relationship.
I absolutely give this book 5 stars.
Porter was the single dad that dreams are made of. He loves his daughter fiercely and she was his number one priority which I adored about him. He was also hot, bossy but also sweet and some of his dirty talk had me feeling awkward in the school drop off line. Dory was sassy and she stole my heart at the very beginning.
The three of them together made am amazing read. The chemistry wasn’t only between Dory and Porter but Kyrie too, like they were always meant to be a family. They had me giggling and other times emotion was heavy. it was the perfect mixture of giggles and feels.
