Can she bake a winning cake without getting iced?Competition is hotter than the pre-heated ovens as The Great British Baking Competition moves into cake week. Amateur baker Poppy Wilkinson has a lot to deal with, from learning she has talents she never knew about, to trying to keep cool and bake under pressure. She’s also trying to track down the secrets of her parentage. Meanwhile, she’s saved … parentage. Meanwhile, she’s saved from death by a local Border collie who seems to think she’s part of his flock and herds her out of danger. Was it an accident or does someone want her out of the baking competition permanently?
With witches, an energy vortex, an ancient manor house that holds it’s secrets tight, Poppy’s barely got time to practice her fondant icing, never mind escape from a killer.
Taste this culinary cozy mystery series from USA Today Bestselling author Nancy Warren. Each book is a stand-alone mystery, though the books are linked. They offer good, clean fun, and, naturally, recipes.

Just as much fun as the first book in this series. More character development and great story line.
Readers can always count on Warren for great character-driven storylines, where you are interested in the outcome for the characters from the very beginning. Poppy’s story is no exception. It is so easy to get involved with these characters that are so rich in detail and depth of personality! This second installment of the Great Witches Baking Show Series beautifully blends mystery and magic, depth and humor, and great food! It grabs your interest immediately and holds you until the very end. Great pacing and flow!
Completely gratifying read! Can’t wait for Poppy’s next outing!
The Baker’s Coven by Nancy Warren
The Great Witches Baking Show Series Book Two
Poppy Wilkinson has a very good reason for wanting to continue being a contestant in the baking contest…she is looking for her birth parents and the clues lay in Broomewode Manor. She’s just having a time getting inside to find those clues.
Not to mention, she’s been kept a bit busy finding bodies, entertaining a ghost, and keeping her newfound secret, well, a secret. She recently found out she’s a water witch. Now she just has to learn what that even means.
A new cozy mystery that will have you turning the pages and…if you like to bake…putting some new ideas in your head to try out in your kitchen.

Baker’s Coven is the second book in the Great Witches Baking Show cozy mystery and is a fabulous addition to this series.
Poppy and the other contestants are on the baking round of the competition but with another murder investigation, Poppy, Gateau, and Gerry the ghost have more than enough to keep them busy. All this along with trying to find out more about her bio-parents.
The characters in this story are developing nicely and the storyline is well written and engaging, keeping my interest from start to finish with a cake-off, the supernatural, witchy powers, murder, danger, and a friendly sheepdog.
I loved this book and cannot wait for the next one in the series!
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Cake, a ghost and a murder!
Such an enjoyable series! Poppy is becoming an old friend and I would love to walk around the town. She has her ghost friend Gerry eavesdropping on conversations and trying to help her solve yet another murder while also trying to move on in the baking competition. Will she be the next victim? Will her cake win or will she go home? Can she find a way into the estate so she can try to track down her parentage? So many twists and turns! Looking forward to the next in series!
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
Baker’s Coven is another delightful Great Witches Baking Show cosy mystery. Poppy is back at Broomewode Hall for the second round of the baking contest. It is however another chance for her to try to get some answers to her past, learn more about being a witch and help solve a murder. This book, and series, is packed full of wonderful recurring characters and is easy to read. Although it can be read as a stand-alone I recommend this book is read as part of the series in order to get the maximum enjoyment from it. Sly the Collie is the hero of this book for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
The second book in the series. Poppy goes back to Broomewold for the second week of the Baking Competitions.
But where Poppy goes, trouble seems to follow. Poppy is trying to come to terms with the fact that she is a witch and the powers she has, while trying to bake the winning cake and find out more about her past.
This is the second book in the series. Poppy is back and the competition is getting fiercer. She’s just learning about her abilities of the magic variety. I got easily lost in this book. I gobbled it right up. The mystery had me flipping the pages because I had to know who was behind it. The cast of characters will suck you right into the book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Baker’s Coven is book two in The Great Witches Baking Show Series by Nancy Warren. Poppy Wilkinson is a character that I enjoyed meeting in the first book but whom I have now grown to love. She is both confident but somewhat vulnerable as she competes in the bake-off while trying to solve the mystery of her beginnings.
This main mystery involves murder once again which makes a murder a week for each of the competitions at Great British Baking Show at Broomewold Manor. Wow, who knew baking could be so dangerous? I also love that the animal character population is growing as well as the background of other characters are being reveal. Such wonderful characters with a plot that ties up nicely by the conclusion.
I don’t think that you would necessarily have to read the books in order to love Poppy in Baker’s Coven but why not. It is a lovely series and Baker’s Coven is just the second book.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The heat is on, in the kitchen, that is. Another lighthearted, cozy baking competition story. Anticipation is building on the mystery of Poppy’s parentage search as well as the mysteries of the locale. This leaves me pondering because I can’t wait for those revelations. Poppy is a magnet for the mystery of a murder and is becoming quite bold in her sleuthing. Enjoy her adventures, straight-forwardness and compassion. I received a free copy without obligation and am voluntarily reviewing.
Poppy’s back for week two in the Big White Tent to continue to compete in the baking contest and feeling a little unsettled after getting warnings that she is in danger, finding a dead man and watching a grumpy groundskeeper being rude to the sweetest pup! She’ll have to work hard to remain in the competition while also trying to figure out who has offed a villager before she finds herself the next victim. I absolutely love this series. The characters are so vivid and realistic even the animals have distinct personalities that you can’t help but fall in love with. The plot is quite well written with nice twists and turns to keep you intrigued and engaged! If you haven’t read this series yet, you really should. I would recommend that you start with the first book to enhance and prolong your reading pleasure!
Fondant borders
Once again, we find ourselves under the baker’s tents and the author has brought back the humor, the magic, the recipes, and more than a little mystery. I love how this author makes this a seamless continuation of book one, but yet it could be read as a complete stand alone. Not only does Poppy have to worry about moving on in the competition, but she has to avoid death, and add another animal to her support team. I don’t know what the author has in store for Poppy next, but I am looking forward to finding out.
