From New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy comes a funny, sexy love story about what happens when your best friend’s brother becomes your new roommate. Oh, and you two still haven’t talked about that one night stand you had a year ago… plans to take to the grave.
She’s certain Carter feels the same, since they haven’t talked about it once in the past year. Not that they’ve ever been much on talking. The two can hardly stand each other on a good day.
If there is a single worse idea than sleeping with her off-limits enemy, it’s inviting him to move in with her.
What can she say? She’s bored. Her barista job is her passion, but it seems to be all she has in her life these days. Even fighting with Carter would be preferable to another night alone. Besides, he needs a place to crash after burning out on the Los Angeles grind.
Neither of them expected the chemistry to come roaring back.
Should they admit that one night wasn’t enough? Or will secretly dating each other turn into the epic fail Stella feared?
Only one way to find out…

Sweet, Sexy and entertaining with these lovable and endearing characters. I have been loving this series and couldn’t wait to read this new book. “HATE TO DATE” is an absolutely charming romantic comedy that will surround your heart with all THE FEELS! It’s a delightful entertaining best friend brother’s romance that will make you laugh, and swoon for days. Once you pick it up, you won’t want to put it down.
I am loving this special group of tight knit girlfriends, their easy fun times, as well as watching them as they fall in love. This is what keeps me coming back again and again.
I haven’t read the previous books in the series so didn’t know some of the characters but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story.
Carter and Stella had a one night stand, thr next morning he ran out and Stella hasn’t forgiven him. When he comes back they are thrown together and hilarity ensues. I could see the funny looks and Stella rolling her eyes everytime he spoke. Slowly they build a friendship but with an attraction that can’t be denied the sparks fly.
If you like a little fun with your contemporary romance this is a book you’ll love.
Bring on the sunshine. Hate to Date You encourages emotions to step away from the stress bombarding hearts from all sides and find a smile again. Carter and Stella light up any canvas with their over the top antics and simmering attraction. Murphy provides a breath of fresh air in a time of never-ending chaos. A much needed escape.
I think this book was my favorite of the whole “Dating” series by far!
Stella Ricci the 20-something barista working at her family own coffee shop “Sweet Dreams” is as independent as it comes. Her best friend Caroline wants to move in with her fiancee Alex but her brother who is currently having a mid-life crisis has just moved back into town. He’s needing a temporary place to stay while he figures life out and Caroline has just the answer for him. Move in with Stella and take over Carolina’s empty room!
Only problem is.. that pesky one night stand Stella and Carter had a year ago.. that left Stella hating Carter for leaving before she woke up and never talking to her again.
I loved their dynamics. Carter is very head strong and doesn’t like to apologize. Stella is very stubborn and doesn’t care what Carter has to say. They are so similar that everyone thinks they are perfect for each other.. except themselves.
Throw in Stella’s crazy Italian family and it will have you laughing at every turn. Nonna is amazing. Everyone needs a Nonna in their life!
I couldn’t put this book down and you won’t either.
The challenges when you’ve slept with your best friend’s brother and now, he is your roommate. To make it worse, he slinked away and never said anything to you after that night. How else should Stella feel other than angry at Carter? I love Stella’s spitfire personality but the one place she doesn’t really show it, is in front of her family. Her father and brothers are very domineering so she feels like she is in a rut as she works at the family’s bakery/coffee shop, not knowing what she truly wants to do with her life. Having Carter live with her disturbs her solitude because she struggles with the attraction she feels for him. Carter has always had a plan or goal he was working toward but quitting his job and returning to his hometown has him lost. Living with Stella is unexpected but welcome because he does regret not talking to her after their one-night. But he has never been a relationship kind of guy. As these two commitment phobic individuals start to spend more time together, will they find out it’s not them but they people they dated? Or will their fears push them apart? I love these dating stories as we get a different couple’s journey to finding love while we still interact with an amazing group of friends and family. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Hate to Date You is an amazing best friends brother romance. I just love Stella and her stubbornness. She is head strong and isn’t going to let Carter get away with what happened between them. Carter is back in his home town and is searching for what he wants. I love how Stella and Carter slowly build this friendship between them. They have this amazing chemistry. There is plenty of heat and some laugh out loud moments when it comes to Stella and Carter. You will just love this one. I couldn’t put this one down. You will just fall in love with Stella and Carter.
*I got to read this as an ARC for my honest review!*
I loved this book!
This is the fourth book in the series and its just as great as the rest. It was well written and believable. My favorite character wasn’t Stella or Carter (even though they were magnificent), nope, it was Nonna! She was loveable and feisty! I really love the male main characters. Its refreshing to have guys other than the jerk alphas that are usually the go to types. I can’t wait to read the next book!! I highly recommend Monica Murphy!
YAY we finally get to read Stella’s story! Stella is great at projecting attitude and confidence, but her reality is that she doesn’t possess a lot of self love. She doesn’t have that drive to go after what she deserves thinking she won’t be good at it. Turns out Carter has a lot in common with her even when he is a go getter at work. They just click. And their friendship is effortless when it stays in easy territory. Demand more commitment and one of these characters will grow up and rise up to the challenge while the other panics and takes longer to get there. But they are so good together!!!! And don’t even get me started on the sexy flirting and smoldering.
It’s good how in this story the tables turn. One chapter you are 100% supporting one character but then you switch. And with the help from a meddlesome grandma and friends, you become their loyal cheerleader. Because Carter and Stella just bring the best out of each other.
I just love this series! This is the fourth book in the dating series and they can be read by themselves. However, reading them in order just gives you more background on everyone in the book. I was so glad we got Stella’s story. She has been in all the previous Dating books and she always had something to say. She is independent and very strong willed. Hard to tell her what to do. She is just like her Nonna. Carter is the brother of her best friend, Caroline. He is a workaholic who has decided to move home. Now he is kinda lost. Stella and Carter has a one night stand a year ago and it did not end well. So when Stella sees Carter she is a little upset. She tries to stay away from him, but when they become roommates, that’s a little difficult! The banter between them makes you smile. Then add a meddling Nonna into the picture, you’ll be laughing out loud. Can Stella and Carter hold off their off the chart chemistry with one another? Or will they give in and see where things will go?
I absolutely adore this series, and I love that each book we get to see a new coupling, but we also still get a glimpse of the couples from previous books.
Carter and Stella have known each other for quite some time. They got to know each other on a more intimate level about a year ago, but Carter bailed and the two haven’t seen each other since. Thanks to Caroline, Carter is back and in need of a place to live. Stella has the open room, so Carter moves in. What’s supposed to be platonic turns into something different. The question is, are the two people that have sworn they aren’t good at relationships ready to take a chance?
I love Stella and Carter, but I have to be honest and say that I think Nonna was my favorite in this story. She’s feisty and just a little sneaky and I adore her! This was a great addition to the series, and I love that we get a little buildup to the next story that is to come. I also love that even though these women are finding love, they still make time for each other. I think that’s just as important to mention because I truly feel like it shows these successful women learning how to balance life in a relationship and that’s beautiful to see. I will also say that the chemistry between Carter and Stella was white hot and super fun to read!
As soon as this book hit my kindle I stopped what I was doing and started it. I have been looking forward to it for a while. Monica turned the heat up with this series. Carter and Stella were electric. You could feel their connection early on. Stella is Caroline’s best friend and Carter is Caroline’s brother, so they knew if this didn’t work out between them they would be in each other’s lives forever and that is a lot of pressure.
Carter just returned home after a complete burnout in Los Angeles and has an inevitable run in with Stella, whom he had a one night stand with a year before. He panicked and left her in the middle of the night with not so much as a goodbye. No one knows about their tryst, hilarity ensues. Both Stella and Carter have relationship issues, they don’t think they are cut out for them, they get bored. Once they are living together though, you can cut the tension with a knife.
I binge read this book, I didn’t want to put it down. I love when a book gives me butterflies, and Carter and Stella gave me them in spades. I didn’t feel the hate between the two as much as the simmering tension waiting to boil over.
