I, Holiday Brown, have it all. A platinum record. Multi-million dollar home in Manhattan that I share with my two best friends. Life is looking fantastic until my roommate’s brother decides to bunk in our guestroom while his house gets renovated.W. Emmett Bell has always been the bane of my existence. He’s annoying, stubborn, a know it all, and just might be the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid … ever laid eyes on. But I refuse to fall for him. But when his sister’s threatened by a stalker, dynamics change. His unwavering faith isn’t quite as self-righteous as I’d always thought, and maybe he has a good side I’ve overlooked all these years.
Or maybe it’s all too much trouble.
The Trouble With Love is the first book in the Christian Chick Lit series: Faith & Fortune.

My mind tells me that I don’t have much in common with a wealthy, city-dwelling celebrity musician. However, my reader heart established an immediate kinship with Shiloh’s relatable characters. Skillfully written authentic complexities breathe life into this story through struggles, doubts, and genuine soul-searching or, more appropriately, Savior-searching.
Unapologetic faith issues share the pages with simmering attraction and sizzling animosity while an unknown threat lingers in the periphery. The Trouble with Love is an engrossing and inspiring read that I couldn’t bear to put down and therefore devoured in one day. I highly recommend this story as well as the author’s backlist to readers everywhere!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. As a co-owner of JustRead Publicity Tours, I received compensation from the publisher and/or author to coordinate a promotional tour for this title. The opinions expressed are my own.
“Wally blew out a breath. “Before my stay is over, I’ll get you to wave that white flag.” “Are you sure I won’t be smothering you with it?”
Toni Shiloh just found my happy spot. Her new release “The Trouble With Love” is the first book in her latest series Faith & Fortune and it may be my favourite series yet! I’m loving meeting these three best friends and roommates. They are all successful women & when one of their brothers comes to visit, the sparks fly. Holiday Brown has loathed Waldorf Emmett Bell for years, but finds herself annoyingly attracted to him.
“Ew, where on earth did that come from? It sounded like a compliment. Okay, a lot more than a compliment. Like feminine interest, which made my mouth pucker as if I’d just eaten something sour.”
This romance, friendship, and journey to faith story will warm all those cold places in your heart. The mystery thrown in really added to the book and will have you praying for them. Then you’ll realize it’s Shiloh’s writing, so you know there will be safety, grace, redemption and healing. I love the thread of who our Heavenly Father is and how we can depend on him. Beautifully written, heartwarming and engaging, it is a tale not to be missed for romance lovers and for those who enjoy stories about the Lover of our souls.
“I pray I can. From the moment I decided I wanted to marry, I prayed for my future wife. Prayed that God would be very present in her life. That He would protect her and bless her. That I would know when I found her and be the man she needs me to be.”
Another humorous aspect has a shout-out to the movie Clueless, which had me laughing out loud. There are so many sweet and sassy moments laced with humor, it really lightened the book. However, the message is deep and riveting . Truly touching and heartwarming storytelling not to be missed.
I read this book through my Kindle Unlimited account. I am expressing my honest opinion, and I honestly loved it!
I have read quite a few books by Toni Shiloh (I think all but one), so when she came out with the Faith and Fortune series, I knew I had to read it. I enjoyed reading “The Trouble With Love”. It was interesting having it just be from Holiday’s perspective. I found the characters to be realistic and believable. The book is well written and flowed smoothly. There is a strong biblical faith element through the story. It shows the doubts and struggles that a person might experience as they seek God and clearly shows the way of salvation. Even though the story gives a conclusion to Holiday and Emmett’s story, there is a storyline that spans over into at least the next book. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I got a free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and given voluntarily. No compensation was received for my review.
Holiday Brown had the world at her fingertips, fame, fortune, wonderful friends, yet Waldorf, a kind faith-filled man, opened her eyes to some new beliefs. Which broadened her world immeasurably.
Toni Shiloh’s skillful writing draws you into this captivating and fresh Christian Chick-lit story, and I’m happy to go along for the ride.
I’ll be looking out for the next novel in the series. Find out for yourself how wonderful it is. You won’t be disappointed. It’s that good.
I really enjoyed this book. I will admit that first person narration is not my favorite, but it was done well. Overall, this was a fun book. I enjoyed the characters and the plot was well done. While not exceptionally unique in theory, the author was able to spin it in an unexpected way. I will eagerly wait for the rest of the series.
The first book in a new book series by Toni Shiloh, and what a great book it is! It is a change in writing style for Shiloh, and she nailed it! This refreshing romantic tale marries the glamorous life of fame with the grounded everyday life of a young woman just trying to find her place in God’s Kingdom. Wonderfully sweet and superbly written, this is a hit for Toni Shiloh. I can’t wait until the next book is released!
Oh, this book was so good! What a great combination of characters and emotions in this story. As I turned the last page, I wished I had book two to dive right into because I got so involved in these characters’ lives.
The author did a nice job of introducing the three main women of the Faith and Fortune series. These three women are successful and famous in their careers, as well as being from wealthy families. It was easy to see both the benefits and the downsides to their lives, including the need for full time security as one character began receiving threats from a stalker.
I loved watching as Emmett and Holiday began to morph from adversaries to friends to more. Holiday had a lot of hang ups and doubts regarding love and relationships. She also began to question whether there was a God and what He wanted for her. Her spiritual journey was so beautiful! I loved the friendship and romance in this story!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This was such an interesting and engaging story. I love the nicknames that Holiday and Emmett had for each other. Holiday’s internal dialogues were hilarious. This story reminded me that someone we have to look beyond the face that one presents to the public. The sisterhood dynamics in this story was well developed. I can not wait to read the continuation of Tori’s story. Ms. Shiloh has a way of crafting characters that are going through something that anyone can empathized with.
I received the book from the publisher and the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
The Trouble with Love
The Trouble with Love is the first book in the series. I am looking forward to reading the next book. I love the name of the main character which is Holiday. She is not looking for love but somehow it will find us. More than one kind of love. I love this quote from the book “ The Trouble with Love was it always smacked you in the face when you least expected it.”
There is lot of things I loved about this book. The friendships, relationship between father and daughter. Above all the relationship with Jesus. Read the book to enjoy it for yourself.
I received an advanced copy of the book from the author. This book review is my own opinion.
I loved this book. I loved the diversity and the fact that the characters were so relatable. Talk about an enemies to lovers romance, Emmett and Holiday had it hands down and it was beautifully written too. It didn’t take long for me to be pulled into the story. Getting to know the girls and the underlying mystery throughout the book that has me wishing for the next books to come quickly.
One thing that stuck with me though was Holiday’s salvation journey. I loved that she was genuinely curious and willing to seek
God. He was gently calling her and even when she didn’t understand, she was ready to ask questions to know more. It was so beautiful.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All opinions expressed are solely mine.
I absolutely loved this story! Following the lives of three heiresses living in NYC, this particular novel focuses on pop star Holiday Brown and her jaded view on love. Add in a lack of musical inspiration, her roommate’s brother that she can’t stand, and someone stalking and threatening one of her best friends and Holiday’s story is full of fun and excitement from the first page to the last.
I loved the relationship between Holiday, Tori, and Octavian. There conversations were hilarious and they were always pushing each other to be their best and take chances. And the banter between Holiday and Emmett complete with annoying (adorable!) nicknames? Perfect. And the best part of all is how relatable the characters are. Despite being a famous heiress, Holiday’s struggles are very much ones we all struggle with. From questioning her worth and offering forgiveness to learning to be vulnerable and trust in love, Holiday’s story is one we can all relate to, providing wisdom and encouragement intermingled with its romance and humor.
Toni Shiloh has quickly become one of my favorite authors and I’ll pick up anything with her name on it. But, this is definitely one of my favorites by her and I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

The Trouble with Love is an amazing read, seriously it’s so good and I absolutely loved it!
I loved Holiday and Emmett, Holiday was so likeable and totally relatable, I was cheering her on! Emmett was such a sweetheart, I loved how he helped Holiday to see how much God loves her!
I have never been to New York City, but I am fascinated with stories that are set there, and I loved that NYC is the setting for this series, Toni skillfully brought the city to life and made me feel like I was there!
I loved Tori and Octavia too and I’m super excited to read their stories, especially Octavia’s because she’s currently my favorite of the three ladies!
I also loved that this book is written in first person.
And I loved the suspense thread that was woven through the story!
The Trouble with Love is a fabulous read! I highly recommend it and I can’t wait to read The Truth about Fame.
Take my word for it, The Trouble with Love is one you don’t wanna miss!
I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher. Which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own!
This is the first book by Toni Shiloh that I have read. I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did. I really liked the characters. I loved how even though they were celebrities they were very relatable and seemed like normal people. I loved how the romance developed between Emmett and Holiday. I love how they went from enemies to lovers. I also loved Holiday’s journey to find God and that it helped her to be willing to open her heart up to love. I look forward to reading the other books in this series and seeing how Holiday’s roommates find love.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
