Welcome to Bramble’s Edge Academy. a university where Fae hone their elemental powers. Sounds exactly like what a powerful being needs, right? If only things were that simple. Like many over the past decade, Ryker has no desire to attend Bramble’s Edge Academy and fights when the Collectors come to take him to the school. His escape attempt ends in disaster, leaving him incapacitated in the … in the middle of the quad with battered wings and an unwanted attraction to Maurelle.
The sexy female comes with more than he can afford. Too much negative attention. And a smile that makes him forget his name.
Ryker reluctantly develops a friendship with Maurelle after they are repeatedly thrown together. While attending classes and trying to keep their heads down, the pair discovers a plot to poison the students, as well as the Headmistress’s secret group of assassins.
With their friends’ lives on the line, they sneak into the Edge and unearth the fact that he’s the heir to the Fae throne. Nothing like adding complications to their already precarious situation.
Dangers rise, leaving Ryker with the decision of whether or not to reveal he survived the murder of his parents decades ago. Problem is the fallout will bring more casualties than he can live with.

I loved this book, the characters were interesting and entertaining, and the acadamy setting enjoyable. Ryker draws people to him, inspiring loyalty although he plays hard to get with Morelle, while she attracts both Brock and himself, giving the first hint of the reverse harem component. The head of Bramble Edge Acadamy is a work of art as the villain, and made me wonder how she had so much power to keep everyone inline, I desperately want book 2 to find out who else is involved in the conspiracy!
Ryker is a young Fae who is coming in to his powers. His mom is trying to get him to escape before the Collectors show up to take him to Bramble’s Edge Academy. She knows something is seriously wrong there, but they aren’t fast enough for his escape & the Collectors show up capturing him. Maurelle has been in hiding in her family’s home for years, and they’ve been trying to keep the Collectors away. When they show up to collect her, her mom begs them to let her stay because she’s sick. Once they have Maurelle shackled, one of the Collectors shows them all what can happen when you try to stop the collectors. Maurelle has psychometry as one of her powers & she can see things that happened in the past when she touches something. At the Academy she spots the Fae that she saw being captured that had been in the same shackles, Ryker. He’s instantly attracted to her, but he knows he needs to keep his distance because she’s going to cause him trouble. There’s something seriously wrong at the Academy Ryker comes to discover. Ryker & Maurelle learn that the Fae King is going to be unearthed & that they are the ones who will discover who he is.
This is a fast paced, action packed story. The characters a well created, and the story is different & unique. Ryker is an alpha male thru & thru. He’s charming & sexy. Maurelle is not your normal Fae. She has curves and the typical look for female Fae is stick thin with no real female assets. Maurelle is smart, strong & snarky as Hell. This was a quick read & ends with a cliffhanger.
This book grabbed from the start and had me pulled into the story. A really great read with great characters. Looking forward to reading more in the series. I recommend reading.

What a great start to a new series! The Fae have been defeated by the humans which is a nice change from the norm when it comes to books about the fae world. This book is full of new friendships, betrayals, magic and plenty of action. Being that this is only the beginning I am super anxious/eager to find out what happens next for these characters.

“Unearthing the Fae King” is an original tale that changes things up and the Fae have been conquered by humans. This is such a departure from the usual Fae tale that it grabs your attention and holds on tight. There is a lot going on and wonderful new characters to like fall in love with and dislike. The story is well-written and the scenes are vivid and alluring. I love this first tale of the “Bramble’s Edge Academy” and look forward to the rest of this tale.

Omg this book was amazing. I love the characters especially Ryker & Maurelle. This book will have you glued too your kindle. I can’t wait too read the next book and see what’s going on.
Welcome to the world of the Fae. In this series starter, there is a LOT going on. The world building and character introductions were done with such intricate detail. Humans have conquered the Fae. Their only hope is the rise of the new King. Most of the story takes place at the Academy. While the students are not teenagers, they are young adults. They are building relationships, finding out who they are and where they belong. It will be great to watch each of them grow and what they become. Each is discovering their power. Ryker and Mari are both strong individuals. Together, along with their following, change is coming. The story is full of action, betrayals and new friendships. It is also loaded with magic. This is only the beginning. The possibilities of what’s to come are endless. Anxious for more. My review is my honest opinion of an advanced copy I received.
A great twist on an idea, looking forward to more in this series!
